Finding the time to look good and keep your wardrobe fresh can be tricky at the best of times, never mind when you’ve got your hands full with the various obstacles that life throws at you. Whether you’re trawling the high street or searching online, acquiring the right outfit for the right occasion can be a mission - and not always a successful one at that. With that in mind, Stitch Fix want to hear your tips and tricks for staying stylish when you’re pressured for time.

Here’s what Stitch Fix have to say:
"Stitch Fix takes the hard work out of shopping so that you can get back to what really matters, without sacrificing on style. After filling in a short online questionnaire, a Stylist hand-selects, just for you, pieces from the best established and emerging European brands. The selection is delivered straight to your door. Keep what works, return what doesn’t, simple as that!”

Do you have certain accessories you use to freshen up an outfit and make it look ‘new’? Or do you make a dash for the shops when you have a couple of hours free and hope for the best? Maybe you have a few key friends or relatives you can borrow clothes from at times of great need?

However you manage to stay stylish with limited time, post on the thread below and everyone who does will be entered into a prize draw where 1 MNer will win a £300 voucher of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck!

Knowing what suits me with cuts, colours and designs saves a lot of time as I can automatically weed out the ones I know won’t look good. I find there’s a lot more choice online so I make use of those filters on clothing websites. If I’m really short on time I put on my failproof black dress and heels which I always feel smart in. A quick swipe of red lipstick and I’m suddenly ready!

I have some good quality white and black tops/shirts in different materials silk/merino wool etc and I find these serve me well in mixing and matching with whatever bottoms I choose to wear.

I’m pretty much a What Not To Do on this. My “technique” is:

  1. remain more or less the same size for thirty years
  2. have big wardrobes and keep everything - get them built in to maximise space
  3. never shop extremes of fashion
  4. know your specific favourite shades (this is key)
  5. never pass a charity shop without having a very quick check for items in your preferred styles/shades or just something random which catches your eye
  6. very occasionally identify a specific gap and go out and shop for it
  7. if your preferred shade happens to be on trend one season raid the sales at the end of it and scoop up a bunch of stuff.

I’ve got the absolute opposite of a capsule wardrobe: it’s all over the bloody shop, but I can “shop my closet” for any given occasion. It may take me an hour, leave my bed piled two foot deep in clothes and drive DH to distraction but it’s probably less time consuming and cheaper than a trip to the shops.

I have a go-to stylish jacket that looks good with almost anything. Wearing layers can make you seem so stylish when you have put in no effort!

Bb cream definitely quick fix for the face in a morning

Helsbells68 · 08/08/2019 09:56

I have a selection of classics that I can mix and match depending on the occasion

cocochips · 08/08/2019 12:42

I find it easiest and quickest to accessorise my outfit with jewellery

mccattack111 · 08/08/2019 14:42

I have a capsule wardrobe so that I don't have to really plan outfits - means stylish with minimal effort!

moom54 · 08/08/2019 14:56

I lay all my clothes and needed items out the night before. It gives me an extra 15 mins in bed!

Pollywollydolly · 08/08/2019 17:31

I use the Konmarie method of folding tops and T shirts so that they are all visible when I open my drawers. It makes matching easy and sometimes matches that I hadn't previously considered become apparent.

Black jeans, pretty top and heels

kittykomp · 08/08/2019 20:11

keep it simple

Hannahscuff · 08/08/2019 20:27

I have some good quality basics that go with a variety of outfits - black cardigan, some kitten heels etc. Means I can get ready without having to think too hard!

Thiswayorthatway · 08/08/2019 20:36

Hair spray or clear nail varnish to stop small holes in tights running.

Nikita90 · 08/08/2019 21:04

I love a capsule wardrobe - something that is timeless! I like skinny jeans, white blouses etc. Also a little bit of lippy goes a long way!

MillyVanilli222 · 08/08/2019 21:25

I always have a selection of outfits that are my 'go-to's, when I'm rushed off my feet and don't have time to sort through my wardrobe. Basic, staple pieces like tailored jeans and simple tops are a godsend! When I don't have time for full makeup, lipstick and mascara pulls everything together and makes me feel more myself!

NICH7 · 08/08/2019 22:03

A simple dress and a high heel shoes. Keep simple!

sweir1 · 08/08/2019 22:57

little black dress never fails

becks213 · 09/08/2019 00:25

Wear a pair of heels as they glam up any outfit

defineme · 09/08/2019 00:33

Big sunglasses, nice scarf, good bag, hair tied up= good to go

OnlyToWin · 09/08/2019 07:03

I make sure items fit well. Even a pair of jeans and a t-shirt can look great when they are a good fit. Good quality shoes/boots and bag also pull an outfit together, as does some simple jewellery.

Tiredoptimist · 09/08/2019 07:36

I moisturise daily, make sure my clothes are repaired, clean my shoes, brush my hair and stick on a big smile.

Where possible, I rarely leave the house without lipstick and heels. I may be the wrong side of 40 and definitely not rich, but I have sass!

jazzitup · 09/08/2019 11:51

I look fabulous all the time, always have, always will.

dadshere · 09/08/2019 13:53

I keep it simple and accessorise with a few 'special' items I keep in the wordrobe.

ConorMcGregorsChin · 09/08/2019 15:14

Minimal make up. Clothes are all colour coded in the wardrobe. Clothes set out the night before. Keep on top of the washing.
Always have my favourite perfume. Favourite lip gloss and Favourite jewellery which makes me feel comfortable / confident.
Rather than anxiously rummaging / deciding / looking for things.
