Home is a place many of us feel our most comfortable and happy, and making your house a place you feel like you can truly call home is personal and individual. Crown would like to hear your tips for making your home a happy place.

Here’s what Crown has to say: “We have exciting new paint shades to update your home this spring in our Breatheasy® matt and silk finish which is 99% solvent free and now certified asthma & allergy friendly® – a fresh look for your room and peace of mind for you, allowing you to create a healthier and happier home”

Have you added a splash of colour to your walls to brighten up your home? Perhaps you’ve filled your home with art that inspires you, or you have plants in every room to bring life to your surroundings?

All who post below what makes their home a happy place will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 voucher for the store of their choice (from a list), plus £100 worth of paint of their choice from crownpaints.co.uk.

Thanks and good luck

Renovate items from your childhood and place in the home. My brother in law renovated a battered rocking horse and it brought such joy to his young sons. I did the same with a high chair and it makes such a lot of talking points. My Grandnephews and g,Niece now using it!

I like my home to be clean and clutter free. I really don't like 'things'. This is not easy to achieve with young children and a messy husband.

Emmax12 · 17/04/2019 13:52

I love having a clean and tidy house, maybe because it hardly ever happens! Otherwise having things out that make you happy, such as photos.

sm2012 · 17/04/2019 14:01

Photos everywhere make my home happy. Lots of ones of my children as babies and now they're a bit older as well. Mix of canvas and framed prints. I like a bit of wallpaper as well as painted walls as that helps to add colour and patterns.

no clutter, lots of photos of happy times, and most importantly lots of laughter

addverbaan · 17/04/2019 14:08

Fresh flowers, lots of natural light and cosy sitting areas

gd2011 · 17/04/2019 14:17

Adopt a rescue dog which you call all help look after

Living a clutter free life.

Colours that enhance, but don’t overpower.

Good storage meaning that no matter how messy, my house is totally tidy-able in 15 minutes or so.

Clean light reflective colours, making sure the colours flow and the inside runs smoothly to the outside, bringing the outside in.
Regularly opening all the windows to get some clean, fresh air through the house, it makes the house feel lovely and fresh.

having great storage so that everything can be out of sight but easily found

iloveadsxx1 · 17/04/2019 14:37

I do most of the house work in our house, its quite big so I am forever cleaning however our children do take out their plates/cups after eating and put rubbish in the bin.

They also take shoes / coats off when we get indoors to keep the floors clean! I love a clean home, it makes me happy! xx

somewhere we feel safe and secure makes everyone relaxed and happy away from the chaos of everyday irritations ,that's what makes ours happy home

emmmaaa26 · 17/04/2019 15:24

Not being scared to be you. If you like bright pink or giraffes for example, then add them to your designs. I like to feel cosy and so I have a lot of soft furnishings in my house.

glennamy · 17/04/2019 15:50

Less clutter, more light, warm and welcoming does it for us!

bryonywilson91 · 17/04/2019 15:55

We've just paid for an interior designer to come in and look at how we can brighten up the home - we've added more mirrors and painted a few walls brighter colours.

disdream84 · 17/04/2019 16:50

Small touches like lots of cushions and nice family photographs make the place more homely and in turn makes it a happier place! I also used to worry about mess and kids toys everywhere but with decent storage all is good!

ljbrad · 17/04/2019 17:08

keep the house clean but don't worry too much about it being tidy!

andywedge · 17/04/2019 17:15

Tire the kids out so they are too shattered to attack each other

TiggersAngel7774 · 17/04/2019 17:15

keep things calm, no raised voices and apologise if your in the wrong

Sallyannlloydjones · 17/04/2019 17:26

Good use of colour and pretty accessories

Annimousey · 17/04/2019 17:26

Having photos of the kids on the walls and their artwork dotted about the house. It makes us realise how lucky we are. :)

JoJoY · 17/04/2019 17:50

I make my house happy by keeping it relatively tidy, allowing the kids to choose their bedroom decor and doing lots of baking!

devito92 · 17/04/2019 18:01

We have a large cupboard painted with blackboard paint and encourage our kids to draw on it.

strawberrisc · 17/04/2019 18:16

My Mum's house is lovely but she has a lot of 'stuff'. When I moved into my house I went the other way. It's minimalistic but cozy. I have light colours on the walls and just a mirror on the wall in the living room. I love staying in hotels so I changed my room to look like one. I have sliding wardrobe doors, spot lighting and minimal items on display. My daughter makes her room cozy for her by having a floordrobe and stuff everywhere!

sammylea80 · 17/04/2019 18:30

I like to have lots of cushions and blankets on the sofa for tv snuggles!
