We have a lot of inspirational quotes on the walls in all the rooms and we try to give inspirational tips and advice everyday to each other just to make the days seem brighter

Abbiechazols · 17/04/2019 10:09

Fresh flowers, i love plants too. I have a few orchids and a money tree as well as fresh cut flowers ! At the moment it is tulips and daffodils, last week it was pink roses and gyps. I’m happier when i have beautiful flowers in my home!

maryandbuzz1 · 17/04/2019 10:15

We do have a bright colour in one room but also bright cushions, curtains and beanbags.
On the walls we love having paintings bought from where we have been on holiday and have photos of happy times on the wall.

cluckyhen · 17/04/2019 10:21

Living in married quarters means that we move quite often so we have always found that having our own soft furnishings and plenty of our happy memories on the walls helps.

glynda · 17/04/2019 10:27

Make everything warm and cozy, a coat of paint and some personal accessories and photos are a cost effective way.

Music, all day music. Laughter and light jokes.

kamaxtra · 17/04/2019 10:35

I have art hanging that was purchased from markets, as well as a large framed photo taken by my father of an amazing scene of fisherman and cormorants. We also add lots of flowers and plants :)

What makes my home a happy place is keeping it light and airy and as clutter free as possible. I have mirrored panels on a couple of walls to make the room seem bigger and it draws the light in. Ottomans are used to keep toys and games neatly stored

AnimalAddict · 17/04/2019 10:37

Bright colours, lots of photographs and comfy furniture! :)

LeeR1985 · 17/04/2019 10:49

Redecorating makes it a happier place in my opinion. I've had the same wallpaper and stuff for around 10 years. I recently started looking at new designs and ways of decorating and i'm already much happier at the thought of the new designs and I haven't even started. I found a website called Ikea Hackers where people have taken various things available in Ikea and they've changed and modified things to make it look different so i've gotten loads of great ideas from that

pixelwife · 17/04/2019 11:18

My house is filled with family photos, artwork my children have created and cheerful bright decor that means, although we are forever on the go with school, work and hobbies, we love to return to our happy home!

Elizasmum02 · 17/04/2019 11:28

julieef · 17/04/2019 11:29

nice bright bedrooms and a nice play area makes them really comfortable

keshimonster1 · 17/04/2019 11:47

I find pastel colours really relaxing so I love to shabby chic the furniture

MrsRix32 · 17/04/2019 12:06

I like the have photos all over the house, seeing the faces and my family and friends throughout the day is always uplifting.

Funkyferret · 17/04/2019 12:17

A happy home to me is clean but not clinical, dotted with art, photos and objects that remind us of things we've done and places we've been. It's also got lots of storage so everything has a place and clutter doesn't become overwhelming.

iut044 · 17/04/2019 12:17

Treating everyone with respect and listening to them.

sallyhartley · 17/04/2019 12:21

I asked my daughter the question about making a home a happy place. These where her answers:

  1. Make it cosy and comfortable
  2. Put plants round your house
  3. Make sure the radiator works
  4. Make sure the floors are not just hard. Make sure they are carpet
  5. Make sure you have a bright light
  6. Make sure there's a big TV in the living room to watch movies
WhiteKnuckleRide · 17/04/2019 12:21

For me it's minimal clutter. One of the main things that instantly makes a bedroom look tidy is making the bed. Wiping down the kitchen sides with an antibacterial cloth always gives me satisfaction as does putting bleach down the toilet Grin

Val1234 · 17/04/2019 12:30

My home is minimalistic in calming colours and it is my happy home. I use furnishings to inject colour and personal items to make it fell homely.

JellySlice · 17/04/2019 12:34

A happy home is a comfortable home, where everybody's needs are considered, where compromises are happily made to achieve this.

Dh has long legs, I have short legs, so we have a very deep sofa with lots of cushions - I get the cushions!

Dh likes to switch off lights, I like bright light, so we have lots of lighting options available.

Dc need to be able to make a mess, whereas dh likes order, so we don't stress about the playroom but we keep the living room tidy.

zeezee33 · 17/04/2019 12:50

Family photos in frames, flowers in every room and our family's crafty items on display make our home a happy place

happysouls · 17/04/2019 13:29

I think it is a matter of attitude quite often. Relaxing and everyone making an effort to get along well. Taking responsibility for doing your share so that there are no niggling issues. If each person is contributing wholeheartedly then there are never arguments about who does what. We just get on with it happily!

Joannemcdonald17 · 17/04/2019 13:31

A place for everything so there is no clutter helps me to feel less stressed!

Lindseymorris29 · 17/04/2019 13:33

Not being overly precious about the home when you have kiddies, you have to let it go a little. So in order to minimise kiddie impact we have used scrubbable paint all over, so accidents or non accidents can be fixed easily. As opposed to re-painting the walls every time! Using washable fabrics for example leather sofas that can easily be washed, or curtains that can be put into the washing machine (easy fix for those little chocolate fingerprints).
Have a good fun stylish storage solution, so mum and dad don't have to look at all the chaos when the kiddies are in bed, and can enjoy a sit down and cup of tea in uncluttered surroundings. A home has to be a home to be happy, and that means making lots of memories in it, be it painting, baking, story time with cuddles or planting strawberries.
