Home is a place many of us feel our most comfortable and happy, and making your house a place you feel like you can truly call home is personal and individual. Crown would like to hear your tips for making your home a happy place.

Here’s what Crown has to say: “We have exciting new paint shades to update your home this spring in our Breatheasy® matt and silk finish which is 99% solvent free and now certified asthma & allergy friendly® – a fresh look for your room and peace of mind for you, allowing you to create a healthier and happier home”

Have you added a splash of colour to your walls to brighten up your home? Perhaps you’ve filled your home with art that inspires you, or you have plants in every room to bring life to your surroundings?

All who post below what makes their home a happy place will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 voucher for the store of their choice (from a list), plus £100 worth of paint of their choice from crownpaints.co.uk.

Thanks and good luck

Having photos and canvasses on display to make rooms a little more personal. A big dining table is important for us too, because we talk about our days when we eat, so this has become a key part of our home

OhMyGodTheyKilledKenny · 17/04/2019 21:49

What makes our home a happy home is the fact it's not a show home with the latest on-trend art or nicnacs, instead it has personal touches that mean something to us as a family.

Things that we've picked up from a charity shop or on holiday have memories attached

Having my beautiful girls around me

cocochips · 17/04/2019 22:04

We eat together and have plenty of photo's around the house

Home is just somewhere you can relax and be yourself.

My home is happy when it’s half tidy! My kids makes such a mess that it’s a nightmare keeping on top of it. Nice clean painted walls do help as well!

Sezza110 · 17/04/2019 23:10

Keeping things clean and tidy and having plenty of food and snacks for the kids.

We ask Alexa to play music for 30 minutes and we all chip in to tidy up until the music finishes. The deal is that if the DC help without complaining then we have to play whatever they want for the following 30 minutes. It doesn't always work (and we don't always get as much done as I'd like) but it beats spending hours nagging them to put their clothes and toys away and I can catch up on jobs at the weekend. The plus side is it means we have to find time to play games - we know it's important to spend time with our DC but our busy evenings were being taken over by housework and cooking and the DC were missing out.

A happy place for me is a home full of photos. I'm less keen on formal, posed pictures but love informal pictures of DH, DC, friends, family, holidays, weddings, events around the house.

Clean, comfortable and with a little sprinkle of luxury. That's my happy place.

tompob · 18/04/2019 06:26

for us its about space, we have our own spaces, toys whereevr but after playing they get put away, its just a happy place

frances93 · 18/04/2019 08:35

Decorate it to your style and fill it full of things that you love, current trends and other peoples opinions often get in the way of what really makes us happy. But I think to be truly happy in the home you live you have to ignore others and put your own stamp on things.

velocitygirl · 18/04/2019 09:12

My #1 tip for keeping your home happy is getting a cleaner!

iforgotwhatiwasgoingtosay · 18/04/2019 09:36

Having cuddles with the dog in the bed - even though I always said I'd never let him in there! Also big fluffy throws dotted around the house - I am the blanket queen Grin

gemmacarolyn · 18/04/2019 09:51

Lots of natural air and light.

Doodygirl2009 · 18/04/2019 10:40

I have all natural colours, and comfy furnishings etc. A nice bright cost home

sweir1 · 18/04/2019 10:57

Natural light, plenty of pictures and plenty of house plants

farhanac · 18/04/2019 12:46

Toys in every room. Yay!

Ren1974 · 18/04/2019 13:19

My husband and I have special pictures and home made mothers/father's day card on our bedroom walls and wardrobes. I does look a bit untidy and random I suppose, but we love it and the kiddies love seeing them there and like to reminisce about when they drew them!

kungfujoe98 · 18/04/2019 13:28

Never let loved ones leave the house without reminding them you love them.

chrissy53438 · 18/04/2019 13:37

Keep it tidy and burn a smelly candle

janeoho · 18/04/2019 14:14

Our home is a happy home as I let me kids make mess. We have a lived in home and im not constantly at the kids to tidy up. We do a big tidy up once a week but during the week, a little mess doesn't hurt anyone. This way we can just all relax and have fun!

sophiefx · 18/04/2019 15:05

Routine and love! With routine, everyone knows what's happening next. Lots of love gives them happiness and a safe haven!

DassDass · 18/04/2019 16:24
