NOW CLOSED

With a school half term in our midst, you may be thinking about the ways you can keep your children occupied and active. Arla BIG Milk would like to hear about the Big Adventures you have planned or have been on this October half term.

Here’s what Arla Big Milk has to say: “We know how important it is to get your little explorers out in the world around them, so we’ve partnered with Magic Light to bring you yearlong BIG Adventures. From Gruffalo nature trail walks to BIG Adventures craft videos, there’s lots for you and your little one to get involved in. We’re also running an on pack monthly prize draw, available across UK grocery retailers, to give you the chance to win an amazing trip to Chessington World of Adventures. Arla Big Milk is simply fresh whole milk that’s enriched with essential nutrients so if you want to join in on the adventure, come visit our site to explore activities for your half term.”

What days out do you have planned for the half term? Do you have a trip to a theme or adventure park pencilled in? Perhaps you have plans to explore the great outdoors with your children? If you’ve already been on adventures this half term, what did you get up to?

Whatever your half term plans, post them below to be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 voucher for the store of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck!

We will be making regular trips to the play to play football. It gets the children active and they have fun too. We may even see some spooky films at the cinema. Halloween Smile

AwdBovril · 25/10/2018 19:31

We are going to The Deep, & a couple of little (cheaper) trips out to nice villages locally. No car, so we go everywhere by public transport, which is in itself part of the fun. We take a "breakfast picnic" to eat on the train if it's a long journey. And another picnic for lunch. Usually takeaway for tea if we are likely to get back late.

helly27 · 25/10/2018 21:20

We have been to Chester zoo and Beeston castle

mishknight · 25/10/2018 22:22

juggling childcare and trying to keep it together

MegBusset · 25/10/2018 22:27

We've had a couple of days away to Cliveden (my choice) and Legoland (DC's choice). Had a couple of local walks, cinema, library. DS2 did a cookery course today while DS1 came with me to Ikea :)

Sierra259 · 26/10/2018 09:36

We've done a mixture of arts and crafts, games and outdoors activities/National Trust days, plus the odd film. DC1 did a day of sports camp at school, and we had 2 days off just the 2 of us with DC2 still in nursery, so got to spend some quality time together. Weather crappy today, so going to paint some rocks for our local hidden rocks group, then a craft activity at the library this afternoon. One of the local museums has a Halloween fair on this weekend, so will also go to that, and then carve our pumpkin.

I find a balance of days out and more relaxing days at home works really well for all of us (and my bank balance!).

Tinkie87 · 26/10/2018 10:35

We have slime making, pumpkin picking, sensory stories, paw patrol at the cinema, a Halloween party the zoo, arts and crafts, some Halloween baking planned

Twinklz · 26/10/2018 13:17

We have been to a pumpkin field and we will be carving the pumpkins.

cooldudew · 26/10/2018 14:11

halloween crazy! visiting a farm to make some witches potions setting up our halloween display carving pumpkings pumpkin disco to go to and pumpkin picking... again!

daisyduke66 · 26/10/2018 15:16

Halloween based activities - the dreaded pumpkin carving of course! - but generally a relaxed, family half term :)

theresacoo · 26/10/2018 17:58

we are really lucky in our village
the main road houses dress up their houses and most of the village go trick to treating up and down there. its look amazing. our local pub puts on a disco usually.
i like horror films so will do that. then we need to fit a swimming session in somewhere!

custardcream1000 · 26/10/2018 19:48

We will be doing lots of Halloween crafts and going to a Halloween party being hosted by my mum for all the grandchildren.

AddictedToRadley · 26/10/2018 22:35

To be honest I’ve no idea what we are going to do. I would love to take them to a zoo or safari park like they’ve been asking but prices can be prohibitive. I think we may manage to visit a local farm and see the animals (we live rurally and the farmer may allow us to visit his animals from a distance?) Other than that I think it’ll be crafty things like pumpkin carving, homemade lava lamps using water, food colouring, oil and Andrews salts, lots of stories, movies, home baking etc
It’s difficult when finances are tight and mobility is poor due to health. I’ll definitely be going through this list and trying to find ideas though, so a massive thanks to Arla for this post and to my fellow Mumsnetters for sharing their ideas Smile

Going shopping, to the park

Justbackfromnewwine · 27/10/2018 10:56

A good balance of trips out eg. To see friends, and time at home, one day of them both having friends round to play, one morning/afternoon of an activity each to give 1:1 time with the other one.
Baking at home
Plus the obligatory ‘make a model of...’ homework for the one in year 3!

pongopig · 27/10/2018 12:38

We have had one big day out (Alton Towers) and the rest of the time at home, a couple of walks, clothes shopping one day etc. Nice to not have to get up early and be rushing all the time.

pinkjjf27 · 27/10/2018 12:49

I have season tickets to a big zoo near my home town and a theme park close to us. I also live near a national park for nature hunts . The local cinama has special kids movie sessions in half term, the library has half term activity week and the local chruch does a messy church alternative to haloween . Throw in some crafting and baking at home and half term is sorted and all weather options are coverd.

poolofdev · 27/10/2018 15:07

My girl is only small but we've taken her on an Autumn walk and we've been to see the Christmas decorations at the local garden centre!

boptanana · 28/10/2018 00:17

Lots of relaxed days at home, catching up with jobs !

7flipper7 · 28/10/2018 08:39

It's the dogs holiday this term so we are all off to the south coast to catch up with friends, plenty of fresh air walks with the dogs and some fun adventures.

CountingDownToBedtime · 28/10/2018 09:03
