NOW CLOSED

With a school half term in our midst, you may be thinking about the ways you can keep your children occupied and active. Arla BIG Milk would like to hear about the Big Adventures you have planned or have been on this October half term.

Here’s what Arla Big Milk has to say: “We know how important it is to get your little explorers out in the world around them, so we’ve partnered with Magic Light to bring you yearlong BIG Adventures. From Gruffalo nature trail walks to BIG Adventures craft videos, there’s lots for you and your little one to get involved in. We’re also running an on pack monthly prize draw, available across UK grocery retailers, to give you the chance to win an amazing trip to Chessington World of Adventures. Arla Big Milk is simply fresh whole milk that’s enriched with essential nutrients so if you want to join in on the adventure, come visit our site to explore activities for your half term.”

What days out do you have planned for the half term? Do you have a trip to a theme or adventure park pencilled in? Perhaps you have plans to explore the great outdoors with your children? If you’ve already been on adventures this half term, what did you get up to?

Whatever your half term plans, post them below to be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 voucher for the store of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck!

We are going to Weymouth for the beach racing, Pumpkin Carving, long walks with the dog and to see the fire works at longleat during the Half Term.

SalutHallo · 22/10/2018 19:52

I have a massive deadline at work so am offloading DS onto friends :(

queenoftheschoolrun · 22/10/2018 19:54

Hairdressers, dentist, optician... then lots of catching up with friends and family.

leasedaudi · 22/10/2018 21:04

We visited the natural history museum with half the population of the U.K. today!

We are also planning walks in the common with plenty of leaf fights!

And also lots of walks in our local forest to collect firewood from fallen branches. We are allowed to take the branches!

I have an energetic boy and he needs to be run like a dog, in order to sleep!

frances93 · 22/10/2018 21:04

Flying to Newcastle to visit my family with my 1 year old, looking forward to my mams cooking and watching my daughter bond with her grandparents as she doesnt see them often.

Cailin7 · 22/10/2018 21:34

half term has ended and all in school. it was fairly quiet, out walks with the dog and down the beach

user1485629191 · 22/10/2018 21:45

We are off to Egypt, my youngest has just learnt to snorkel, I'm so excited to take him.

OrdinaryGirl · 23/10/2018 06:19

I've been offered free tickets to our local animal prison zoo, so will be taking DS1. He is thrilled. (I shall mutter disapprovingly under my breath about how the animals may be very happy, but none of them are volunteers. 😠)

confusedofengland · 23/10/2018 09:35

It was my birthday yesterday, so we all went out for breakfast & a nice walk together.

Then we have playdates every day for the rest of the week! As well as the usual swimming lessons, which tend to be quieter in the holidays. We also have to make sure homework gets done Grin

mamaduckbone · 23/10/2018 09:42

My two have already had half term and I’m off this week - I’m a teacher in a different county.

Dh is a SAHD though so he took them swimming, for a long bike ride, to the library to get books and films, and they had plenty of time chilling at home as well to prepare for the mammoth 9 week term up to Christmas.

Ds1 is 12 and would usually be out with mates but they all seemed to be away so he actually spent some quality time with his dad and little brother. They had a lovely week and now I have a really peaceful one.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 23/10/2018 10:10

We're going on a family holiday; a number of us have 'big' birthdays this year, so we're all getting a holiday let together for a bit of a reunion. Hoping for good weather for lots of walks and bike rides!!

vixxx666 · 23/10/2018 10:46

Walks, time on the beach and baking for us!

littlemonkeyz · 23/10/2018 11:04

We are looking forward to decorating the house with Halloween decorations. We are hoping for some dry(ish) weather so that we can get the bikes out and go for some nice rides on our local trails, including through the spooky tunnels!

lovemyflipflops · 23/10/2018 11:41

We love baking cookes and cup cakes - but the best part is decorating them with icing, sprinkles and buttercream, so that is one of the activities we will be partaking in. We love being outdoors on our bikes, so weather permitting, that's another day taken care of. I intend to buy a pumpkin and make a pumpkin with the scariest face we can. We love making home made pizza with sweetcorn peppers, grated cheese and tomato, (we use pre-made pizza bases as it's quicker) but the fun we have making the pizza, the speed they are cooked and the enjoyment we have in eating them in our pretend pizza restaurant is a great way to spend an afternoon. On a rainy day we will inevitably head for the cinema, a bus ride and movie is a lovely way to spend a day.

Trips to park and Halloween parties lined up! And a Halloween movie night with her friends

Srathore · 23/10/2018 13:25

My boys have gone to Devon with extended family. Making great childhood memories with their cousins, you can’t beat going away with your extended family, adds to the adventure. Going on walks site seeing and generally eating out and having fun. I have an appointment so couldn’t join them, I know they’re having a great time.

BrieAndChilli · 23/10/2018 13:34

trip to local grotto gardens that have underground tunnels that they decorate for halloween,
DD has a broken arm so most of things we would do are not possible! - tree climbing, parks, crafts etc.- a bit short on ideas really.

CPParenttoDD1234 · 23/10/2018 15:29

I love the holiday but I have to share my 8 year old with her father. So we don’t like to do too much as she will get too tired. So this half term I’ve gone to a huge outdoor park with some of her girlfriends. We searched for painted rocks and painted our own which we hid too. We have painted nails and done glitter tattoos.
We have done some pottery painting and as a treat tonight we are off to the theatre.
She has also had fun trying to get me to help her with her English grammar and we have both worked on a English workbook together to try and help the jump she has had to year 4. I hope she’s enjoyed her time with me as she’s back to her father tomorrow afternoon.

Caravanning in Ayrshire along with pumpkin design and massacre

sputnicki63 · 23/10/2018 16:11

We'd intended to be out and about squeezing the last days out of our season passes. Instead, we're having sofa days wrapped in blankets with boxes of tissues handy for our streaming noses.

April2020mom · 23/10/2018 17:31

We’ve been pumpkin picking yesterday. Tomorrow we are going to a friend’s house to dinner and decorate some pumpkins. A family lunch on Friday and a Halloween party at the weekend. At some point I will probably go and see if my local garden centre has any plants for spring or not. I’ve taken one week off work. On Thursday morning I plan to make some Halloween treats for the party. Cupcakes and possibly some sandwiches. We’ve also been designing pumpkin and bat decorations for the apartment.

butterfly2001 · 23/10/2018 18:08

autumnal walks in the local area and visiting family

misskatamari · 23/10/2018 19:31

So far we've been to a national trust place and soft play, the rest of the week we've got a Halloween craft thing planned at a local cafe, and I'm considering braving a cinema trip (3 year old has only been once before). Probably have a trip to the park and library if it's nice as well, and maybe a local museum. Halloween and autumn crafts are on the agenda too. We picked up some leaves today to do leaf rubbings and dd also wants to turn them into monsters so we'll see how that goes

duck22 · 23/10/2018 20:02

Enjoying the sunshine and the great outdoors as much as possible. Picking leaves and making anI'm also, making a shelter. Making a bird feeder...
