NOW CLOSED

With a school half term in our midst, you may be thinking about the ways you can keep your children occupied and active. Arla BIG Milk would like to hear about the Big Adventures you have planned or have been on this October half term.

Here’s what Arla Big Milk has to say: “We know how important it is to get your little explorers out in the world around them, so we’ve partnered with Magic Light to bring you yearlong BIG Adventures. From Gruffalo nature trail walks to BIG Adventures craft videos, there’s lots for you and your little one to get involved in. We’re also running an on pack monthly prize draw, available across UK grocery retailers, to give you the chance to win an amazing trip to Chessington World of Adventures. Arla Big Milk is simply fresh whole milk that’s enriched with essential nutrients so if you want to join in on the adventure, come visit our site to explore activities for your half term.”

What days out do you have planned for the half term? Do you have a trip to a theme or adventure park pencilled in? Perhaps you have plans to explore the great outdoors with your children? If you’ve already been on adventures this half term, what did you get up to?

Whatever your half term plans, post them below to be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 voucher for the store of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck!

We're going to haven! I have been paying for this a bit at a time for nearly a year. I am so excited.

AngelDog · 16/10/2018 17:39

Our big half term outing is a trip to our local Oxfam bookshop, which usually does buy one get one free on children's books during holidays. I can't say my children enjoy the visit that much, but they love the resulting book haul!

RockingDuck · 16/10/2018 18:11

We'll be going to the library, a local RAF museum, and on some autumnal walks to tire everyone out. Might do a hot pizza picnic if it's dry. Couple of playdates too.

Hmumto3 · 16/10/2018 18:19

Have been hitting the halloween events at theme parks and will be visiting family!

guiltynetter · 16/10/2018 18:42

this is my first half term with a 4 year old and a 4 week old, so i’m a bit nervous! i’ve planned pumpkin picking one day, a free slime workshop at hobbycraft for another. i’ll be taking her to blackpool illuminations one night with my friend while daddy stays with the baby. i’m hoping for good weather so we can go to the park etc 😊

sarat1 · 16/10/2018 18:54

Lots of meeting up with NCT friends, distant friends with babies, family gatherings and then birthday on the Friday with mummy and daddy!

NerrSnerr · 16/10/2018 18:56

My daughter started reception this term so is exhausted. On the days her brother is at nursery I we'll go swimming as she's nearly swimming independently. We'll also take her back to her library toddler group to see everyone.

It will be lovely to have time to catch up with friends and family. It's been a long and busy half term. We're also looking forward to not getting up and out in the dark. :)

An overnight stay in London for us. Can't wait!

Chocolatecake12 · 16/10/2018 20:17

I’m working during half term this time , for the first time in ages but I finish at 3pm so will be collecting the kids and making the most of the afternoons without having to worry too much about early bedtimes!
We will probably go to the park, get an ice cream, have friends to ours for tea and play. We will also enjoy our local beach - I love the different times of year exploring it.

Ladygaladriel · 16/10/2018 21:52

Camping in the Lake District

SweetPeaPods · 16/10/2018 21:53

Couple of days at home Lego building, baking and various jobs around the house and garden, some nice autumnal walks at nearby NT plus a couple of days out to nearby Zoo and LEGOLAND Discovery Centre.

Byrdie · 16/10/2018 21:59

It's crept up on us... we'll be party planning for halloween and birthdays. No trips planned but we'll probably hit a trampoline park at some point!

anitagreen · 16/10/2018 21:59

I think we will be having a weekend out to Butlins for their spooky breaks, a few visits to the farm near us and I really would love to go pumpkin picking I've never been and It's always been something I'd love to do.

DarkDarkNight · 16/10/2018 22:18

Lots of Halloween parties and activities for us, including (I hope) a Farm Park nearby that has a Pumpkin patch because we’ve never done that before.

After his first term in full time school my son is looking forward to not having to get up for school. This does not mean I get a lie in though!

Treaclespongeandcustard · 16/10/2018 22:25

I’m taking the week off to enjoy some down time with my children. We will do lots of cycling and walking (weather permitting) and probably lots of baking if it rains. By the end of the week we’ll have settled into a new and happy routine ... the back to work and school again Sad

Velmasglasses · 16/10/2018 22:37

I'm having a baby! ELCS booked for November 1st!

mickeyanonymouse · 16/10/2018 23:18

We are visiting family at the other end of the country-long drive which we are doing overnight. So we can have quality time and really focus on kid centric things the dogs are going on a wee holiday too for some of it. Lots of picnics outdoor and indoor as well as getting the most out of our national trust passes!

AlliKaneErikson · 17/10/2018 00:27

We’ve planned a trip to St Ives, Cornwall; we can sit huddled with a flask of coffee while the kids runs and explore to their hearts’ cobtent on the beaches. Bliss!

Playing in the house and garden
Walks to local woods
A possible trip to the park (possibly not - it's about 5 miles away and is always being vandalised by idiots who're intent on destroying everything for everyone else)
Walk around a local EH/NT place
Anything free, basically.

gerispringer · 17/10/2018 07:05

I’m looking after my grandchildren as they have 2 weeks holiday and my DD only has one. We are taking them along with my other DD to Center Parcs. Very excited.

treegone · 17/10/2018 07:31

Visiting family, parks, library, drawing and playing with some of the things we don't get around to in busy weeks. I have 3 under 5's so don't have to spend a lot, but I have the whole time off work so will be completely exhausted having to look after them all alone for a week and a half!
