This activity is now closed

The summer holidays are filled with busy days spent navigating heaving soft play centres, staging obstacle courses around the garden, finding new reasons for why, no, your child can not have another ice cream - and generally throwing your all in to avoiding the dreaded moans of ‘I’m bored’. But when the kids are worn out and have (finally) been shipped off to bed, it’s time for parents to relax. With a range of new films, on demand and ready whenever you are, Sky Cinema is there to help you recharge this summer, and to celebrate we would love to know your tips for a perfect cosy night in.

Do you like to finally make the time to catch up on those new releases that you missed in the cinema, like Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, Star Wars: The Last Jedi or Justice League? Or maybe the perfect evening is spent with a glass of wine in hand, preparing a delicious slap up meal for two? Perhaps you use the few hours of peace to relax with a serious at-home pamper session - cucumber eye mask and all.

Here’s what Sky Cinema has to say: “Sky Cinema, the dedicated home for movie lovers. Enjoy unlimited movies on demand, from the biggest blockbusters to much loved family favourites. With something for everyone this summer, Sky Cinema is ready whenever you are.”

However you spend your perfect night in, post it on the thread below to be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 voucher of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck

We love family games and sing songs followed by a 'feel good' story before bedtime

shuggas · 09/07/2018 18:12

We work opposites and DH works a few evenings but, Once the kids are In bed, We go through the box sets - pick a mood we are up for- drama/ comedy and look for something we fancy and then absolutely binge it over a few evenings. Just done Zapped, it was great! Grin a Ginor 2 is nice too!

Honestly, just an evening in, cool breeze with the balcony door open, a drink out on the balcony before eating a delicious dinner and watching Netflix. Simple but cosy.

Plenty of options - food drink and entertainment

sarah861421 · 09/07/2018 19:34

a good film that everyone wants to watch, some yummies to eat and comfortable chairs

laurac1987 · 09/07/2018 19:46

Our perfect night in means dinner in the garden, ice creams after dinner and curling up on the sofa with a good movie!

IonaAilidh11 · 09/07/2018 19:53

new film snacks and lots of pillows

SusanWalker · 09/07/2018 19:57

I like watching detective or crime series. Old or new i don't mind. Then a lot of tea on the coffee table so I can have several cups and some crochet and I'm happy.

Make sure all household chores are done/hidden/ignored
Phones off, no social media!
No tv

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 09/07/2018 20:05

We really enjoy watching films from our youth in a darkened room with the DC and some great snacks. Hook is a favourite, as is Cool Runnings

Theimpossiblegirl · 09/07/2018 20:12

We love a movie night- we'll have pizza/snacks, blankets, lights off and all snuggle up, including the dog.

We take turns to pick the film and aren't allowed to moan.

Faithless12 · 09/07/2018 20:15

It depends on the type of night we want as it is either PJs, a good movie (generally Harry Potter as that is DS’s favourite) and some popcorn. Otherwise it’s a board game night where we play our favourite board games.

seeingdouble2 · 09/07/2018 20:15

A good movie with well behaved children nicely tucked up in bed and some nibbles. You can hear every single word. Bliss!!!

kittykomp · 09/07/2018 20:21

Netflix and popcorn

madge47 · 09/07/2018 20:27

watching catch up tv with a big bar of chocolate x

Pmliu · 09/07/2018 20:44

Our perfect night in will be the kids tucked up sound asleep in bed, whilst we watch a fab movie, a delicious takeaway, yummy snacks and thirst quenching drinks with my hubby

twinklenic · 09/07/2018 20:50

I have no memories of quiet nights in. My youngest is 4 and the only time we have a quiet night in is if shes included

littleme96 · 09/07/2018 21:15

We bring down duvets and snuggle on the sofas with a good film and a takeaway. Often we will then have a DIY ice cream bar for dessert where we have different flavour ice creams, sprinkles, toppings and sauces and make our own creations.

giddyypixie · 09/07/2018 21:18

A bowl of freshly made popcorn, a good movie and just taking time to be together. So often we are distracted by our phones and day to day life in general that a cosy night in is simply stopping for a few hours for us!

andreaca · 09/07/2018 21:34

After I put everything away and all the kids are sorted, I like to put the lamp on low, with some twinking lights dotted around, I have a hot chocolate or coffee and and catch up on a movie, Its so calming for me, and chills me right out.

RACHELSMITH45 · 09/07/2018 21:54

A rom com, bottle of wine, some munchies..perfect!

buckley1983 · 09/07/2018 21:55

Prior to starting out family - my OH & I used to go to the cinema every weekend - often to see multiple films in one night! Gone are those days!!

These days - when LO is tucked up in bed - we snuggle up on the sofa in our PJs & take it in turns to pick a film. OH will always pick a horror (boo!!) & I'm more likely to go for a thriller or a comedy.

Drink of choice for OH is a craft beer, diet coke for me & a large box of maltesers which will be finished before the opening scene has started!! :)
