This activity is now closed

The summer holidays are filled with busy days spent navigating heaving soft play centres, staging obstacle courses around the garden, finding new reasons for why, no, your child can not have another ice cream - and generally throwing your all in to avoiding the dreaded moans of ‘I’m bored’. But when the kids are worn out and have (finally) been shipped off to bed, it’s time for parents to relax. With a range of new films, on demand and ready whenever you are, Sky Cinema is there to help you recharge this summer, and to celebrate we would love to know your tips for a perfect cosy night in.

Do you like to finally make the time to catch up on those new releases that you missed in the cinema, like Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, Star Wars: The Last Jedi or Justice League? Or maybe the perfect evening is spent with a glass of wine in hand, preparing a delicious slap up meal for two? Perhaps you use the few hours of peace to relax with a serious at-home pamper session - cucumber eye mask and all.

Here’s what Sky Cinema has to say: “Sky Cinema, the dedicated home for movie lovers. Enjoy unlimited movies on demand, from the biggest blockbusters to much loved family favourites. With something for everyone this summer, Sky Cinema is ready whenever you are.”

However you spend your perfect night in, post it on the thread below to be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 voucher of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck

Sitting outside in the warm evening sun with a few drinks with my wife, perfect (and very rare !)

vickyg88 · 09/07/2018 08:32

PJ's on, doors locked, curtains drawn and then finally order a takeaway followed by lots of munch whilst watching a film!

PorridgeAgainAbney · 09/07/2018 08:47

If we want to watch a couple of episodes of something or a film, we have to get a couple of curries cooking by 5ish, put DS to bed half an hour early at 6.30, then we've just about got time to eat lots of curries and samosas in front of a film before we drift off at our usual time of around 9 Grin.

send the kids to grandma;s and crack open the wine!

mollymoo818 · 09/07/2018 09:19

I love cosy nights in. It is one of my favourite things about winter. If it is just me and hubby then a bottle of red wine and a good TV box set but for the family it is so lovely to all get bathed early and get in our PJ's and sit down to watch a good family movie with popcorn and snacks.

happysouls · 09/07/2018 09:20

It may seem obvious but I don't know how many people do this...switch the phones off! No calls, no quick facebook checks...no distractions. If you're going to snuggle up and watch a film then do that, uninterrupted and unspoiled!

FreshEyre · 09/07/2018 09:25

Winter nights in are the best.

Curtains closed, fire on and candles lit.
Cosy clothes and a fleecy blanket to snuggle up in.
A good, British, 'feel good' movie.
Large glass of red wine (in a nice glass)

Perfect.

FogCutter · 09/07/2018 09:30

PJs on, glass of wine and bowl of crisps, good box set or film that the kids can't watch (eg 15 or 18 rating) as I'm so fed up of watching kid's films!

Dormouse1940 · 09/07/2018 09:40

Phone off, pyjamas on. Pot of tea brewing and a really good book. An indulgent snack (I'm looking at you, chocolate).
Bliss!

dawdydawty · 09/07/2018 09:48

Homemade popcorn, a clean house, a good face mask.

pandoraskids · 09/07/2018 09:52

A glass of wine and something good on TV

waterlily200 · 09/07/2018 10:18

We all cuddle up in bed, DH, DD, DS and me. We have a big bowl of popcorn and our favorite drinks. We watch a mix of old family favorite from mine and DHs childhood and more modern family movies. We try to do this most Saturday nights to make we have quality time together. Phones are put away and we just spend time together. DD is 4 and loves to talk about the movie, she's very chatty, and it's nice to share that experience with her.

mamof3boys · 09/07/2018 10:32

Watching a movie, curled up on the sofa with my family.

glenka · 09/07/2018 10:34

for us its a quiet night just either sitting watching tv or reading a book.

Ranita · 09/07/2018 10:36

Story books, Colouring books and felt tips; Snacks and some music.

sheilads105 · 09/07/2018 10:39

Ah - a blockbuster of a film, a bottle of wine & some Doritos. Sorted.

qate · 09/07/2018 10:47

Love these sorts of nights! Key elements: baby in bed early and settled so no mid-film or mid-episode interruptions; takeaway (to minimise cooking and cleaning time so we can just relax without wasting time and/or thinking about the mess that awaits); snacks (generally a family size box of Maltesers!), and then either a film that we've both been looking forward to (cinema trips are few and far between now with a small child), or a binge of a series that we're currently enjoying (Masterchef US has been a recent favourite, along with Hawaii 5-0 and Madame Secretary).

gd2011 · 09/07/2018 10:48

DVD and popcorn

amyhalliday1 · 09/07/2018 10:54

Lots of snacks , wine and films

KAKADU2001 · 09/07/2018 10:54

No TV a nice candle lit meal with a glass of bubbly. Oh and of course the company of my gorgeous wife of 40 years.

KentUnicorn · 09/07/2018 10:56

Light some candles, lots of cushions on the sofa, a blanket to snuggle if it's cold then some good snacks and a hot chocolate in front of a good film. Perfect night in as long as you can get the baby to sleep!

hiddenmichelle · 09/07/2018 10:57

Glass of red wine, cashew nuts, scented candles and netflix. Perfect!

meepmoop79 · 09/07/2018 10:58

Get the kids to bed early!

Bluearmy351 · 09/07/2018 10:59

I love nothing better than sitting with the kids on a Friday night, with a table full of snacks watching a great movie. The kids absolutely love Matilda the movie and its definately a family favourite of ours

footdust · 09/07/2018 11:02

Favourite takeaway ordered, picking a movie (or two) and plenty of popcorn
