This activity is now closed

The summer holidays are filled with busy days spent navigating heaving soft play centres, staging obstacle courses around the garden, finding new reasons for why, no, your child can not have another ice cream - and generally throwing your all in to avoiding the dreaded moans of ‘I’m bored’. But when the kids are worn out and have (finally) been shipped off to bed, it’s time for parents to relax. With a range of new films, on demand and ready whenever you are, Sky Cinema is there to help you recharge this summer, and to celebrate we would love to know your tips for a perfect cosy night in.

Do you like to finally make the time to catch up on those new releases that you missed in the cinema, like Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, Star Wars: The Last Jedi or Justice League? Or maybe the perfect evening is spent with a glass of wine in hand, preparing a delicious slap up meal for two? Perhaps you use the few hours of peace to relax with a serious at-home pamper session - cucumber eye mask and all.

Here’s what Sky Cinema has to say: “Sky Cinema, the dedicated home for movie lovers. Enjoy unlimited movies on demand, from the biggest blockbusters to much loved family favourites. With something for everyone this summer, Sky Cinema is ready whenever you are.”

However you spend your perfect night in, post it on the thread below to be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 voucher of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck

Favourite night in with husband: pizza, beer, champions league football

Favourite night in alone: snacks, wine, OITNB or a chick flick.

Both require the children to be sound asleep at a decent hour!

Nothing better than a takeaway, bottle of wine and a good film in front of the fire when the baby’s in bed.

RockingDuck · 17/07/2018 13:22

perfect peaceful cosy night in - finding a film to appeal to a , 10 and 12 year old... salted popcorn, hot chocolate in the winter or smoothies in the hot weather, maybe some chocolate cookies. we all have our own throws to use as blankets, and we probably need another sofa now to fit the kids on as they've all grown so much.

Fattygettingthin · 17/07/2018 14:44

Cold weather, curtains drawn, wood burning stove on, twinkly lights on, kitchen door open so the heat of the aga can reach the living room, snuggled up on the sofa under a blanket sharing the foot stool and the dog between us, we usually share a bottle of wine and order a pizza and then see what new films are out on sky, if nothing of note then probably head to re watch game of thrones on boxsets as that's our go to series ❤️

Big bowl of popcorn, phones switched off, and a film we've agreed on

abitoflight · 17/07/2018 22:10

Plenty of pillows, pj's, bed socks, cookie dough ice cream
In bed
Predictable film (seen before) friends or sex and the city, rom com or girl power type of film
This is me and DD

The most fun I had was when the electricity went off. No tv. We sat in the candlelight playing Monopoly eating snacks and drinking. Haven’t laughed so much in my life, especially my dhs counting skills with the Monopoly money 🤔

Who needs a tv?

AntiqueOlive · 18/07/2018 08:30

A perfect night for me is when there's a film that appeals to all - and I'm including the kids.

A perfect family film - doesn't have to be a kids film. just something that we can all enjoy together.

It's so rare for us all to be in the same room together now, it's actually a treat to be able to watch a film together for a few hours - have snacks and all squeeze up on the sofa.

I love it.

catching up with a boxset and a big bowl of popcorn

NastyCats · 18/07/2018 12:43

Either a brilliant new book and a bottle of red wine with some sort of pizza/pasta and something special for dessert or a really good boxed set or Netflix (Parks and Rec, Modern Family, Brooklyn 99, Arrested Development, etc.) and a take-away pizza.

Friday and Saturday night are movie date nights - husband and I will have a glass of fizz, wine, cocktail (well malibu and coke......), sometimes we have flavoured popcorn, or crisps
Then we choose the theme and look for the movie, unless we already have a movie in mind

Movie dates with kids are some time over the weekend with popcorn and milk, or cups of tea for adults

FawnDrench · 18/07/2018 16:11

Snacks, snuggles and sniffling with tears at the film...

Annieg1234 · 18/07/2018 17:00

We always move the sofa forward to its completely adjacent to the tv, we have lights out, popcorn and drinks just like a cinema experience. the kids love it!

thesockgap · 18/07/2018 17:30

We will either find a film to watch or catch up with a box set, open a bottle (or two) of wine, and get some nice snacks in - usually nuts, jellies and chocolates! The only downfall can be that I get so comfy that I fall asleep and miss some of the film... that's what getting old does for you!

Minnibix · 18/07/2018 19:46

After our favourite meal we settle down with a glass or two of wine and binge watch The Game of Thrones

sealight123 · 18/07/2018 20:07

PJs, a movie, lots of snacks and blankets and some homemade cocktails :)

sbruin1122 · 18/07/2018 22:26

takeaway, blankets, popcorn and a good film

allibaby · 19/07/2018 08:14

Big Bowl of popcorn, a good film and feet up with a big mug of tea in hand.

grantd1 · 19/07/2018 10:12

Corner sofa, lights off, 55" samsung smart tv, netflix & chocolate peanuts/raisins. Sorted.

butunlikely · 19/07/2018 13:41

Glass of wine and an addictive box set is perfect for us!

sprinklesandsauce · 19/07/2018 16:40

Once DD is in bed at the weekend, I enjoy a film. I often watch repeats like Bridget Jones. More recently I watched sets on Netflix, like The Crown and Designated Survivor. I like to eat Pringles whilst watching tv.

On Sky Cinema I am waiting for the new Jumanji to come onto Premiere.

Pinklady1981 · 19/07/2018 17:42

Saturday Night is Film night in our house. We also have treat night which includes chocolate and popcorn. It's so nice to sit down with the kids and relax to watch a film.

juju3 · 19/07/2018 19:22

plenty of wine and chocolates

EsmeeMerlin · 19/07/2018 19:48

We like watching box sets in the evening and will sometimes watch a film if there is something new we have wanted to watch.

I like a glass of wine to relax in the evening as well with some snacks.

GreyerbytheDay · 19/07/2018 21:29

The best nights in are just me and my girl: PJs on; if it’s winter, the curtains closed, blankets to snuggle under, candles twinkling, hot chocolate with marshmallows and cream; if it’s summer, the windows flung open, a cool breeze, and frozen strawberry smoothies to drink. Whichever it is, there’s nothing more perfect than cuddling up together on the sofa, watching a great family movie and laughing until our sides hurt. Sometimes if we’re feeling really decadent we open up the sofa bed and fall asleep together right there: just her, me and Little Ted.
