This activity is now closed

The summer holidays are filled with busy days spent navigating heaving soft play centres, staging obstacle courses around the garden, finding new reasons for why, no, your child can not have another ice cream - and generally throwing your all in to avoiding the dreaded moans of ‘I’m bored’. But when the kids are worn out and have (finally) been shipped off to bed, it’s time for parents to relax. With a range of new films, on demand and ready whenever you are, Sky Cinema is there to help you recharge this summer, and to celebrate we would love to know your tips for a perfect cosy night in.

Do you like to finally make the time to catch up on those new releases that you missed in the cinema, like Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, Star Wars: The Last Jedi or Justice League? Or maybe the perfect evening is spent with a glass of wine in hand, preparing a delicious slap up meal for two? Perhaps you use the few hours of peace to relax with a serious at-home pamper session - cucumber eye mask and all.

Here’s what Sky Cinema has to say: “Sky Cinema, the dedicated home for movie lovers. Enjoy unlimited movies on demand, from the biggest blockbusters to much loved family favourites. With something for everyone this summer, Sky Cinema is ready whenever you are.”

However you spend your perfect night in, post it on the thread below to be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 voucher of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck

I would spend my perfect night in with my children, bean bags in the front room so we can sink into comfort, home made popcorn, and 'inside out' or jungle book on our television. We would take turns in picking movies, and enjoying our family time together.

daniel1996 · 12/07/2018 06:51

I would have movie night as a treat, for a Friday or Saturday night, I love watching my children's faces when they are watching a good movie for the first time - the look of pleasure - amazement and joy is simply gorgeous to watch. So for my perfect night, it would be pyjamas on, pizza ordered, ice cream in the freezer and the sky remote with new batteries ! There a so many films we can watch over and over and new ones we are excited to see.

lovemyflipflops · 12/07/2018 07:00

My tips are, mobile phones off, we would choose one day a week for movie night to make it feel more special, we would look at sky box office and select a movie, we would have our favourite chocolate treat, sit back and enjoy spending precious time together and create some lovely memories.

Curtains drawn, lights dimmed, comfy lounge wear on. If we are all watching then a family comedy movie is chosen and we turn phones off and try to get the cinema feel. We bought one of the sound bars from sky a while ago and it is pretty awesome filling the room with sound. Some treats and snacks to munch on too.

A takeaway, a glass of wine and a good film - perfect for me.

I'm working my way through the different take aways, next on my list is Lebanese so I'd like a film to match.

PJs on the sofa with a blanket, a good movie, pizza and snacks.

voyager50 · 12/07/2018 09:02

A darkened room with candles lit, snuggled up under a blanket on the sofa with my other half with mugs of hot chocolate, watching films - bliss!

MrsFrTedCrilly · 12/07/2018 09:17

If the kids are around it’s popcorn and the living room on squishy beanbags.
If the kids are in bed, grown up crisps dips and drinks and invariably a long discussion about what to watchHmm

Thismummyruns · 12/07/2018 09:25

Most importantly, comfy clothes or ideally PJ's! Secondly, a big squishy throw for us all to snuggle under and equally as important, movie snacks to include popcorn, nachos & a cup of tea!

Love a lazy, rainy Sunday with the curtains drawn and the world locked outside to immerse myself in a good film 🎥

The key thing for me is not start watching a movie too late or I'll fall asleep. I need to start my viewing by 9pm otherwise the window has closed. This means starting bed and bath in good time so the DC are fast asleep and so that DH has had time to make himself a bowl of popcorn while I'll have a decaf tea and a biscuit.

Ikea1234 · 12/07/2018 14:26

Kids in bed, tortoise in bed, takeaway ordered, movie neither of us have seen before (so not to spoil it for the other by saying 'oooh, this bits really good...' ) and a bottle of chilled White wine....bliss! (Oh and no phones for annoying work messages to interrupt us!)

MargoLovebutter · 12/07/2018 15:19

Relaxing night for me would be flopped on the sofa with all the jobs done, a mug of tea on the table beside me and a great rom com movie on the TV.

MummyBtothree · 12/07/2018 16:08

Lots of different nice things to munch on and a film that interests everyone :)

strawberrisc · 12/07/2018 16:57

Put all the usual good intentions aside! Get a takeaway, close the curtains and indulge in a fabulous box-set!

libra101 · 12/07/2018 18:08

Our idea of a perfect night in is watching a scary movie, while enjoying a takeaway pizza, curry, or fish and chips. A glass (or two!) of wine or shandy, feet up, smartphones turned off. Bliss!

Easylikeasonntagmorgan · 12/07/2018 18:28

A cosy night in for us involves a good bottle of red wine, steak, chocolates, and a film from Sky Store.

JoGodfray · 12/07/2018 19:19

A perfect cozy night in - what an earth is that. We have 5 children and I have to say when they were little it was so much easier in the evenings. I was lucky and all 5 went to bed early and slept through but now they the older ones are teens it is an absolute nightmare. Grandparents live too far away or I would let them stay there once in a whilst!! I'm not complaining though - not really!! I wouldn't change a thing!! They grow up way too fast!!

flamingtoaster · 12/07/2018 20:10

Our perfect night in - long chatty meal with the children, then all snuggled up together on the sofa for a favourite movie or box set with a glass of wine or some chocolate.

jayrdee · 12/07/2018 20:19

A night when my husband and I are actually both at home together as we both work shifts around family life. Takeaway, G & T & movie

Sierra259 · 12/07/2018 20:30

Movie or Netflix night is definitely the way we go! We used to be regular cinema goers but a combination of kids and stupidly high cinema tickets mean we rarely get to go as a couple. Glass of wine/beer, chocolate for me, peanuts for him and a film that we missed at the cinema is just perfect.

llewejk · 12/07/2018 21:22

watching a boxset - loving Stranger Things. With a glass of wine!

musicalprof · 12/07/2018 22:23

Summer: sitting in the garden watching the sunset disappear & the stars appear, clutching a cool glass of Pimms & nibbles...
Winter: a favourite DVD, glass of red wine & more nibbles! Grin

RightyHoChaps · 12/07/2018 22:30

Our son just turned 1 and we've only recently set up his bedroom with a monitor so I can keep an eye on him once I've sneaked out of the bedroom, like some sort of stealthy Mission Impossible scene.

We've spent the past year planning the films and boxsets (it's a v long list!) we wanted to watch together and now we finally can!

I sneak out and collapse on the sofa, next to my hubby. We get a drink and a tasty snack, look at each other and say "So, what do you want to watch?"

We can't do everything we want to with our little one in tow, but these little snippets are a blessing for us. Just being able to sit next to and snuggle into him whilst we watch a good film or boxset... it's amazing the things you appreciate after that first year of colic, rocking to sleep, singing lullabies, surviving bath time, mealtimes, bedtime without going clinically insane Smile

misskatamari · 12/07/2018 23:27

Perfect night for me would be a glass of prosecco, or hoegaarden, watching a box set whilst crocheting/knitting. Maybe some fancy crisps and dips to snack on :)

joggingrunning · 13/07/2018 00:35

A cosy night in for us would be cooking and eating a meal together as a family. Afterwards we would watch a film together on the TV.
