This activity is now closed

The summer holidays are filled with busy days spent navigating heaving soft play centres, staging obstacle courses around the garden, finding new reasons for why, no, your child can not have another ice cream - and generally throwing your all in to avoiding the dreaded moans of ‘I’m bored’. But when the kids are worn out and have (finally) been shipped off to bed, it’s time for parents to relax. With a range of new films, on demand and ready whenever you are, Sky Cinema is there to help you recharge this summer, and to celebrate we would love to know your tips for a perfect cosy night in.

Do you like to finally make the time to catch up on those new releases that you missed in the cinema, like Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, Star Wars: The Last Jedi or Justice League? Or maybe the perfect evening is spent with a glass of wine in hand, preparing a delicious slap up meal for two? Perhaps you use the few hours of peace to relax with a serious at-home pamper session - cucumber eye mask and all.

Here’s what Sky Cinema has to say: “Sky Cinema, the dedicated home for movie lovers. Enjoy unlimited movies on demand, from the biggest blockbusters to much loved family favourites. With something for everyone this summer, Sky Cinema is ready whenever you are.”

However you spend your perfect night in, post it on the thread below to be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 voucher of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck

Netflix, cheesecake and a couple of board games.

YourKidsYourRulesHunXxx · 15/07/2018 01:23

I love this question!
Cosy nights in have a very special place in my heart, because my Mum was a working single parent when my sister and I were very young, and she would make the effort on a Friday night to make a blanket fortess with chairs, and we would turn the lights off, have a mini picnic with sandwiches and play the Sega Megadrive or watch a movie. Bliss.

With regards to how I like to chill out with my partner for a cozy night in once my son has gone to bed... I like to make sure everything is tidy and decluttered beforehand, and that there are candles lit. Phones aren't on silent, but there's a silent agreement that we aren't going to be pre-occupied with our mobiles. Sometimes we have a drink and a chat, or we stream a movie or play a video game together.

Ideal quiet night in would be a lovely home-cooked meal, eaten in the garden by candlelight, couple of G&Ts, then indoors to watch something that will make me laugh: either a comedy programme or good film. Cup of tea and maybe some chocolate to accompany (and in my PJs of course). Bonus if I stay awake to the end of the programme/film!

We like to have a nice meal or a takeaway, snuggle on the sofa under a blanket and watch a good movie - usually something twisty turny :)

Goingovertosusanshouse · 15/07/2018 09:25

We love a film or box set to binge on. We don’t really go out as a couple so get snacks and a gin and snuggle down

lolly2011 · 15/07/2018 09:28

We have found a good series to watch so when the children go to bed we have a nice drink, meal and chill on the sofa.

StickChildNumberTwo · 15/07/2018 10:10

Takeaway, bottle of wine, good friends and a board game or three.

ipswichwitch · 15/07/2018 13:09

Friday night is our takeaway night. Once the kids are in bed one of us will go collect it and the other gets the drinks ready and shove the kids toys out of the way. Usually we watch a cheesy action movie, or naff horror - anything that doesn’t require much brainpower to watch since by Friday we’re knackered!

10milewalk · 15/07/2018 15:04

A takeaway, a box of chocolates and a good film to watch with my hubby.

MaGratgarlik1983 · 15/07/2018 17:38

Tidy up the toys, pour the wine, sit in the garden to watch the sunset and count the stars.

Chestnut23 · 15/07/2018 19:32

The house has to be clean, wine poured and candles lit. Food will be delivered or especially bought that day. The downside is I am probably too tired to see the film though and will be asleep within an hour!

user1485629191 · 15/07/2018 19:49

Lots of treats and a good movie!

sealight123 · 15/07/2018 21:06

A good movie, homemade cocktails and snacks. Each time we try to theme the food and drinks too...just to keep it a bit different :)

SillyMoomin · 15/07/2018 21:46

Bath, tea and unlimited use of the remote control!

Gill81uk · 15/07/2018 23:07

I love to watch a new film that dh and I both agree on, ideally a thriller or something with a bit of mystery and suspense. I'll buy us a nice bottle of wine and some nice nibbles to have while we watch.

garytopley1 · 15/07/2018 23:11

Sitting out in the garden enjoying the hot Summer nights and relaxing, entering competitions and reading. Thankyou for the competition x

PasstheStarmix · 15/07/2018 23:37

When the kids go to bed and say good night me and my husband will turn off the light. We will watch Sky on demand, chilling hand in hand or maybe a Sky movie while lounging in the jacuzzi. We’ll chow down on a pizza or a romantic dinner for two, we’ll make the most of Sky’s great films old and new. We’ll sip some wine cosying up at nine and grab the remote, no need to get our coats. At the flick of a button, no effort to make this night really is a piece of cake.

DryHen · 16/07/2018 06:04

Perfect night in would start with something delicious to eat, right now in this boiling weather it would have to be a salad. Then we'd have the fan on low, half-close the blinds, and choose something good to watch on the TV. It's rare we go to the cinema now so we relish the opportunity to watch a really amazing thriller together in the comfort of our own front room.
Snacks would be crisps and nuts, drinks would be a long lemonade or G&T.

GhostsToMonsoon · 16/07/2018 11:55

Either having dinner in the garden or a summer's evening, or watching something on TV. However, by the time we've got the children to bed, it's almost our bedtime.

TARNYS · 16/07/2018 12:12

In our house movie nights are Friday and Saturday evenings. We make it family time. We all get our pjs on and have pizza. The kids have a milk shake and adults have cider x. If we are not having pizza I make the kids a treat box. Sweets, popcorn, crisps. Adults have chocolate. We all snuggle together on the sofa. The kids choose the film and we enjoy having time together. We dim the lights and turn the sound up. It is a really lovely special family time.

I wish our nights in were based around a movie more often but my daughter finds it hard to concentrate & rarely manages to watch a whole film 😞. So a perfect family night in for us is all making homemade pizzas then finding something funny for us all to watch. Chocolate is definitely involved at some point!

Ratbagcatbag · 16/07/2018 16:12

My perfect night in is with me and my daughter (who's 5) changed into PJs after a nice bath/shower.
Debating which takeaway to order and then settling down with a film. We snuggle up, curtains closed and she feels it's a real treat as she gets to stay up a bit later.
We eat popcorn and ice cream after takeaway.

Once the film is done we go snuggle in my bed and I read her bedtime stories.
Sometimes in all the chaos it's just lovely to do.

MamaGH · 16/07/2018 20:58

Food, blankey, sleepy cuddles and a good film tbh I don't care what it is as long as the food is there Wink (and the cuddles Grin)

angela121262 · 16/07/2018 21:20

A good film, takeaway, and a bottle of wine
