Which stains do you worry about most? Find out what Mumsnet users told Fairy Non Bio

NOW CLOSED

It’s inevitable that clothes sometimes end up dirty and stained, and though you may have handy tips and tricks for removing stains, there might be some that fill you with dread. Fairy Non Bio would like to hear about the stains that you’re most scared of.

Here’s what Fairy Non Bio has to say: “We never want people to be afraid of wearing the clothes they love in case it gets stained. It’s our job to help. We want to know what are the really devilish stains that never seem to budge”.

Do you struggle with mud stains? Maybe your child wiping their hands down their clothes after eating greasy food fill you with dread? Perhaps baby poo stains are your nemesis? Or maybe it’s a spilt glass of wine that you worried may never come out?

Whatever the stains you’re most scared of, share them below to be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 voucher for a store of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck!

Grease stains are the worst...best way I've found to get rid of them is to soak the clothing literally as soon as it happens, then stick in the wash.

Pythonesque · 27/06/2018 11:28

Another vote for grease stains. Especially on jumpers. Mainly concerns my own clothes because I get in a rush and don't religiously put an apron on when cooking ...

delilahbucket · 27/06/2018 12:30

Suncream is the only thing I cannot get out of clothing. School t-shirts get ruined by it every year, and so does all the holiday swimwear.

ZenNudist · 27/06/2018 12:42

I'm not actually scared of stains! However I get pretty jumpy around DS(4) eating tomato based sauces particularly spag.bol without some kind of Apron.

I also whip his shorts off if he's had a grass stain and try and get it out there and then.

And sun cream round the neck of white t-shirts just goes nasty yellow and never goes away.

Mummymummums · 27/06/2018 13:08

Without hesitation - the grime on the collar of my son's school shirts which is usually a combo of sun cream and sweat/grease. Washing up liquid helps to a point but nothing else.

Melliegrantfirstlady · 27/06/2018 14:28

Fairy won’t thank me for this but the best way to get a stain out is to wash the garment then place it in the sun!

Ta da never failed me yet.

It would have to be grass and mud stains. They are so difficult to remove and I have to do several washes too.

CremeDeSudo · 27/06/2018 17:24

Pen stains are the bane of my life since DS started school last year- how do you get them out?!

IWouldBeSuperb · 27/06/2018 17:35

Definitely grass stains! Even using the detergents that apparently tackle them specifically!!

MerryMarigold · 27/06/2018 17:57

Food grease and weird fruit juice or plant stains which seem to get worse when you wash them.

foxedupfox · 27/06/2018 18:10

Satsuma stains are the worst 😫

ICantBelieveIDidThis · 27/06/2018 18:31

Bleach.

There's nothing for it but to dye the item.

I've found someone on the internet that sells an American brand of dye for artificial fibres, but it's expensive and a pain in the arse to do it.

Bleach is my kryptonite.....

Thisoneisnottaken · 27/06/2018 18:47

Turmeric. I add it to food as it's so good for you, but anything it touches is stained forever...

SoftBlocks · 27/06/2018 18:47

Our garden has reddish soil and the dust makes horrendous orange stains on anything white even after you think you’ve washed it all off!

It’s especially bad when combined with sun cream!

Summerdays2014 · 27/06/2018 20:02

Sick. My 2 year old threw up over our sofa at the weekend and I can still see and smell it...

WinkyisbackontheButterBeer · 27/06/2018 20:18

Suncream has damaged most of dds clothes and doesn’t come out. That annoying.

FawnDrench · 27/06/2018 20:27

Not scared of stains - what a bizarre and OTT thread title.

However I do somewhat dislike laundering clothes that display the colour and imprint of lipstick.

fishnships · 27/06/2018 21:29

Blood. Tried scrubbing with salt but the only thing that seems to work is spit (sorry, TMI). Blush

whylie · 27/06/2018 22:20

White board marker pen !

Grease from food !

Hair serum !

Anything tomato based !

School paint ! Pretty sure it should be used for industrial purposes only !

whylie · 27/06/2018 22:22

Oh deodorant stains !

HowDoYouPronounceJohn · 27/06/2018 23:11

Biro, blood and marks caused by the washing machine.

ncullinane · 27/06/2018 23:27

Anything with tomatoes in it I find stubborn to remove, also mud! I didn't realise how hard it would be to remove.

avamiah · 28/06/2018 01:06

Gravy stains on my daughters white school shirt .

Oblomov18 · 28/06/2018 07:00

Tomato sauces are the worst!

BitOutOfPractice · 28/06/2018 07:43

Scared of? Really?

God it's like the 50s sometimes on MN sponsored threads.
