Doing the laundry can be a messy task - whether that’s getting rid of your children’s unexplained stains or dealing with the piles and piles of clean clothes when you’re done. Who would blame you for dreaming about the kind of space that could make it all seem a bit more manageable. With that in mind, Fairy Non Bio would like to hear about what would be in your dream laundry room.

Here’s what Fairy Non Bio has to say: “Did you know that the average mother spends 5 months of her life doing laundry? That’s a lot of pulling tissues out of pockets, separating loads and pairing socks! Imagine that you had your own separate laundry room. What would you want to make your life easier and nicer to spend time in?”

Would you have a separate washer and dryer? Or shelves for each family member’s clothes? Perhaps you’d have a fold down ironing board? Maybe you’d have everything - from appliances to airers - hidden away in cupboards?

Whatever would be in your dream laundry room, share it below to be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 voucher for the store of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck!

Definitely lots of space for a fold down ironing board because I can't stand lugging that thing around! Also lots of Fairy laundry gel, softener, and different baskets for each type of laundry load - dark, white, handwash, etc.

hiddenmichelle · 13/03/2018 09:36

I would love lots of shelves (that I kept just for laundry, instead of putting other clutter on them). Also - wouold love a shelved airing cupboard....

loopylou1984 · 13/03/2018 09:36

A twin drum washing machine to cope with all the clothes twin babies get through and a tumble dryer to save me going back and forth to the garage! A sink for hand washing. Space for the airers so they didn't have to take up space in the spare bedroom, the ironing board ditto. A tv for watching while ironing and a stock of chocolate and wine for days I feel I'm in there all day!

julieef · 13/03/2018 09:43

first plenty of room, a top of the range washing machine and tumble dryer, which I would only use in winter. plenty of haning space for clothes to air

cluckyhen · 13/03/2018 09:45

I would have a room tht is large enough to have my laundry baskets either side of my washer and dryer with shelves for my detergents etc so that I can have hands on straight away. I would ideally like room for my airer too (hanging from the ceiling old school) and ironing board.

Imgettingcheesefries · 13/03/2018 09:47

I'd like enough room for everyone to have their own washing baskets, a dirty and a clean one each that they could grab and put away themselves. The sorting into piles and putting away is the most annoying part of laundry for me I've got 4 kids and a husband so it takes forever

lsymons · 13/03/2018 09:57

A housekeeper to do it all for me?
If not i would love lots of cupboards where I could hide store it all and keep it looking nice.
I feel like cinderealla most days

pollywollydoodle · 13/03/2018 10:02

A laundry fairy?
Failing that, cupboard space for the sports/DIiY stuff in the utility.
Storage space for the giant washing powders and conditioners
I like the idea of a shelf each for persons clean laundrry.
A pull down electric airer would be nice, so we don't have to stand a drier in the kitchen from September to April

footdust · 13/03/2018 10:02

A person who would do it ll for me!!

katkatgu · 13/03/2018 10:03

A brand new machine with plenty of capacity!

Yaracuy · 13/03/2018 10:04

Two washing machines. One large one for big loads and a small for small loads. A very strong dryer and a large tumble one.

Sparklepants3 · 13/03/2018 10:06

Just the space to have a laundry room would be amazing!
It would be great to have a spare sink and also to be able to own a tumble dryer (I don’t have the space)

FlickeringEmber · 13/03/2018 10:14

A maid!

I'd like it to have a heater and a radio to make it cosier.

AuFinch · 13/03/2018 10:23

Dream utility would have two washers and driers - one for us and one for doggie blankets and bedding! A rack that takes all the bulky boots and has a built in sanitiser air flow that takes out the smelly odours outside and freshens up the boots and washes the mud off! It would have a doggie washing and drying station with a ramp for the dog to walk up to save my back and a two sinks - one high up for normal stuff and a "foot sink" for the man after work when he comes home, it would have really good lighting, not look like a dumping ground but have all the recycling washing and ironing and house all the veggies and various pumpkins from the plot. It would have a master kit that was on chains to avoid dissappearance of items such as - scissors, screwdriver, swiss knife, spatula and scrubbing nail brush. The soaps and powders for cleaning would self-fill and never run out and never made a gooey mess, all the brushes, vac, cleaning gear would be all racked up and look and smell good - all would be co-ordinated in a sunflower design and there would be a radio on the windowsill that only played happy music.

sheilads105 · 13/03/2018 10:26

Room for cupboards full of cleaning products. Room for an ironing board. Lots of natural light.

shellywkd · 13/03/2018 10:28

A robot that can wash, dry, fold and iron the clothes forms. Realistically more space to make doing laundry easier.

64BooLane · 13/03/2018 10:32

Aside from a butler to do it all, I’d want ...

Natural light from a window with a good view
Miele machines
Ceiling airer
Space for ironing board to stay up all the time without being in the way
A deep sink with plenty of room for soaking things
Some surface space for folding
A radio

and it would be utterly spider-proof.

I can imagine there would be times I’d actually welcome the chance to shut myself inside doing laundry if we had all that.

meepmoop79 · 13/03/2018 10:48

The room itself would be a utility room, attached to the kitchen. Its long been a dream of mine to get the washer machine and the tumble dryer out of the kitchen. With luck (and wishful thinking) there would be sufficient space in this room to store the clean clothes until they are ironed.

sallyhartley · 13/03/2018 10:49

A tumble dryer. Never owned one. All my washing is hung around the house in winter 😑

southernsun · 13/03/2018 10:49

A magic laundry room where you throw everything in there and it comes out clean, ironed and ready to put away.

As that may be a little bit too far then a separate washer and dryer, a fold out ironing board and plenty of space work in and organise clothes in ready to be put away.

lulumajor · 13/03/2018 10:50

A nice cupboard to store everything and make things look a bit more neat!

LauraMMM · 13/03/2018 10:55

Oh a dream washing room - it would have a separate washer and dryer hidden behind cupboards. I would have another slim longline drawer/cupboard for all the washing powder, softer etc with an easy pull out drawer. I would also love to have a hidden fold out ironing board that would be great for storage. Fold down laundry baskets and little boxes to put everyones socks in so they dont get mixed up. And a little radio at the side to turn on when doing the laundry :)

libra101 · 13/03/2018 10:55

My ideal laundry room would comprise separate washing machine and tumble dryer.

Room for the laundry basket, with shelving all round for laundry, and cupboards large enough to hold detergent, laundry softener, machine cleanser, stain removers, etc.

There would also be an overhead airer to use for drying clothes, and the door would open onto the garden, where another dryer would be available.

Sorted!

Sallyannlloydjones · 13/03/2018 10:59

A place for washing machine and dryer and shelves and plenty of room to iron with a small TV for entertainment.

Gingernaut · 13/03/2018 11:06

A dedicated space that doesn't double as storage for suitcases, winter gear and anything else that doesn't fit under the stairs.

Large washing machine that can take a double duvet.

A large tumble dryer for towels and duvets.

Enough space for an ironing board and a sturdy table and chair for sorting socks and for when I have to do mending and adjustments.

A place to set up and store the sewing machine.

A place for the airers so that I can dry woollens and delicate items.

A clothes rail for drying T-shirts and hanging the finished ironing.

A dehumidifier to dry the clothes that don't go into the tumble dryer and prevent condensation.

A cupboard for all the laundry detergents, water softeners, conditioners, stain removers, starch, soda crystals and dyes.

Space, essentially.

Space, cupboards and electrical sockets.

But space, mainly. An entire room of empty space.
