Doing the laundry can be a messy task - whether that’s getting rid of your children’s unexplained stains or dealing with the piles and piles of clean clothes when you’re done. Who would blame you for dreaming about the kind of space that could make it all seem a bit more manageable. With that in mind, Fairy Non Bio would like to hear about what would be in your dream laundry room.

Here’s what Fairy Non Bio has to say: “Did you know that the average mother spends 5 months of her life doing laundry? That’s a lot of pulling tissues out of pockets, separating loads and pairing socks! Imagine that you had your own separate laundry room. What would you want to make your life easier and nicer to spend time in?”

Would you have a separate washer and dryer? Or shelves for each family member’s clothes? Perhaps you’d have a fold down ironing board? Maybe you’d have everything - from appliances to airers - hidden away in cupboards?

Whatever would be in your dream laundry room, share it below to be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 voucher for the store of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck!

I'm not sure I'd want a laundry room - washing machine seems happy in the kitchen! Although, I do miss my old ceiling airer - don't have a suitable space for it in this house.

I'm curious though: "Did you know that the average mother spends 5 months of her life doing laundry?" How long does the average father/non-parent spend doing laundry? Surely it's not linked to motherhood? Everyone creates washing.

I would love a massive laundry room with two washing machines and two dryers so I could wash everything at once. I would also like lots of shelves to keep everything organised and plenty of space so that I can iron without feeling as though I am being constricted.

Washing machine, tumble drier, clothes pegs, in a room with a door to the back garden to hang up my clothes, laundry baskets for each of the laundry types (darks, lights etc), fold down ironing board

And if we're talking about a dream room, a robot to put my clothes in the washing machine, dry and iron them :)

KAKADU2001 · 13/03/2018 12:45

Nothing because if it was a dream laundry room it would be empty as all of the dirty washing would have been washed, dried, ironed and put away.

A magic fairy who will take care of everything, or otherwise, lots of space and reliable appliances.

amyhalliday1 · 13/03/2018 12:46

One of those new gorgeous ad wash machines x

Belmo · 13/03/2018 12:48

A tumble dryer - I regularly fantasise about getting one!
A big laundry basket to sort out colours, too.

pinkflump · 13/03/2018 12:58

I would definitely have built in washer and dryer. At the moment the washing machine is in the kitchen and the tumble dryer in the dining area (kitchen diner). The tumble dryer is so noisy in that room! I have a washroom at the front of the house which would make an ideal utility room but I live in a townhouse and the other two toilets are on the top floor!

Maybe I can do an extension like on the velux sponsored thread and turn the washroom into that utility room Hmm

7 people and three hairy mutts mean lots of washing and ironing! I would love love love a room just to hide all the washing to be done, washing to be folded and washing to be ironed in rather than the various piles and baskets all over the kitchen floor and table Smile

ifigoup · 13/03/2018 13:00

Washer and dryer: large sizes and the most energy-efficient available. An ironing board permanently up. Counter space to fold clothes.

Bluearmy351 · 13/03/2018 13:04

a maid who i can just hand the laundry to, wishful thinking id say

jazzitup · 13/03/2018 13:22

Of course my dream woman who would do it all, yes I know I'll get my own coat thank you lol.

lolly2011 · 13/03/2018 13:27

My perfect laundry room would have a large drum washing machine with a quick wash setting, a large drum drier for duvets towels etc and a place for dirty washing and room for an ironing board and lots of storage space fro linen and cleaning materials.

6paces · 13/03/2018 13:34

A member of staff housekeeping!

RACHELSMITH45 · 13/03/2018 13:35

a laundry fairy would be magical!! arghh otherwise.. more storage and places to hide it until I have time to sort it all :-)

legfaced · 13/03/2018 13:42

A room for the housekeeper to do all the laundry.

Crustyoddsocks · 13/03/2018 13:44

If I cant have a laundry/ironing fairyWink...I suppose I'll settle for a nice large old fashioned ironmade pully

Pmliu · 13/03/2018 13:47

My dream laundry room will 3 chutes, one for dirty whites, darks & coloured and mini lift to take the clean clothes back up. A big cupboard to store all my laundry products, lots of counter space, a built in fold down iron board and iron holder. Will also have the latest laundry gadgets to help me do the laundry.

emms88 · 13/03/2018 13:55

A washing machine and tumble drier. Space to sort and iron clothes and a wide ironing board. Storage space for laundry baskets and washing powder and a place for odd socks.

liz1970 · 13/03/2018 14:05

a big washing machine and separate drier and room for the ironing board so it can be left up at all times!

IceBearRocks · 13/03/2018 14:14

Heated airers and plenty of space to do it!!! We have underfloor heating as disabled DS has no feeling of heat or cold so has burnt himself on a radiator. Underfloor heating is great but not good for drying clothes!

glenka · 13/03/2018 14:22

washing machine and tumble drier behind doors so it does not look messy and ironing board in a cupboard

lizd31 · 13/03/2018 14:22

I'm actually quite happy with my Samsung EcoBubble washer/dryer, I absolutely love it so no other fancy gadgets required by me

mave · 13/03/2018 14:33

A huge washer/dryer with plenty of room for an iron and storing all washing powder and softener, etc

Funkyferret · 13/03/2018 14:56

My dream laundry room would have a chute coming into in leading from the bedrooms so all laundry just ended up there, as if by magic. It would have a cupboard full of every product needed to remove stains and wash any fabric. It would also have a really high ceiling with an amazing drying rack built in that could be lowered at the touch of a button. Separate washer and dryer, built in ironing board and a fabulous iron just has to be pointed at clothes to remove creases! Oh, and a lovely DAB radio to make laundry chores a little more fun.
