Doing the laundry can be a messy task - whether that’s getting rid of your children’s unexplained stains or dealing with the piles and piles of clean clothes when you’re done. Who would blame you for dreaming about the kind of space that could make it all seem a bit more manageable. With that in mind, Fairy Non Bio would like to hear about what would be in your dream laundry room.

Here’s what Fairy Non Bio has to say: “Did you know that the average mother spends 5 months of her life doing laundry? That’s a lot of pulling tissues out of pockets, separating loads and pairing socks! Imagine that you had your own separate laundry room. What would you want to make your life easier and nicer to spend time in?”

Would you have a separate washer and dryer? Or shelves for each family member’s clothes? Perhaps you’d have a fold down ironing board? Maybe you’d have everything - from appliances to airers - hidden away in cupboards?

Whatever would be in your dream laundry room, share it below to be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 voucher for the store of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck!

A utility room to put both washing machine and tumble drier with enough cupboard space for dirty washing, ironing pile, ironing board and iron.

Helsbells68 · 13/03/2018 08:04

A space for a washing machine and tumble dryer away from the main kitchen area would be great, plus if the room is big enough an area for the pet's food bowls :)

007hel · 13/03/2018 08:05

Yes a laundry chute Grin

jane1956 · 13/03/2018 08:09

a bigger laundry room and one of those super washers where you can add an odd sock that always gets missed

ohlittlepea · 13/03/2018 08:21

ooh I'd love a laundry room. I'd have a big butler sink, a nice shelf for all the washing lotions and potions. A huge washer and drier and a lovely big wooden sideboard for folding and sorting on. with a deep shelf with coloured baskets underneath for me to sort the folded clothes into each family members items. There woukd be a sunny window..and a small hedgehog sized door..and if possible to miss Tiggywinkle would visit every few days to help me out.

topsy73 · 13/03/2018 08:21

A person doing my washing/drying and ironing lol!

shroney · 13/03/2018 08:31

I'd love a worktop counter and a drying area with space for a cupboard where I could store the ironing board and laundry related stuff.

devito92 · 13/03/2018 08:39

I want large commerical washers for bigger loads.A dehumidifier to help with the drying and an od fashioned cloths airer.A shute for everyones clothes to cascade down and sort into relevant colours/whites.

bigfishlittlefishtupperwarebox · 13/03/2018 08:39

My dream laundry room would be anywhere that isn't my tiny kitchen!! Oh for a spereate room so we could actually have a tumble drier even!!

KARINAJ83 · 13/03/2018 08:40

ooh a dry clean machine. I once saw on grand designs that the woman had designed drawers to put woollens and delicates to dry that gently heated through the drawer...blooming genius!

To have a designated room to lock away and not have to look at everyday would be lovely too instead of the tsunami of clothes hidden in my bedroom

towser44 · 13/03/2018 08:41

A separate room to start with and it would have cupboard space and a hidden washing machine and dryer!

SSCRASE123 · 13/03/2018 08:42

Loads and loads of storage, with the units all hidden away. I have a load of other utility/kitchen gadgets that I'd like to keep out so I don't forget to use them and I get stopped by everything piling up on work surfaces due to lack of space.

03kelwil · 13/03/2018 08:51

Two new washing machines, a large dryer and plenty of counter space, maybe a seating area with tv.

mutleythegooner · 13/03/2018 08:51

I'd have enough room to sort whites and colours, space for ironing and folding and a 'dumb waiter' lift to take it all upstairs when I'm finished!

Even better would be a robot laundry maid!

Dormouse1940 · 13/03/2018 08:53

Oh I'd love a utility room! (Just realised that I'm turning into my mother!)

Currently our washing machine is stuffed awkwardly into a cluttered, cold and not 100% weatherproof outbuilding... so first thing I'd like would be a laundry room INSIDE. Nothing like having to skid through the yard in the snow with a full laundry basket to get anything washed....sigh...

Then I'd like organised shelves and plenty of counter space...
And enough room to store the ironing board etc.

ALSO I'd like the space to have an electric/heated airer for winter. We don't have a tumble drier and I don't mind in summer, when I can dry clothes out on the line but that is impossible in winter. Which leaves us trying to dry everything over the radiators! I don't think I'd want a tumble drier even if we had the space, I know they're handy but they use so much energy and can reduce the life of your clothes...But a heated airer's economical to run, so I think it'd be a good compromise in the bad weather (and enable us to have our radiators back!)

happysouls · 13/03/2018 08:57

hmmm I imagine a clean tiled light room with washer, dryer, nice big worktop for folding things, shelves for detergents, ironing board and hanging rail. In a daydream one I'd have a pulley line that went out of a window to the garden for drying. You'd hang the clothes and then pull the rail so they move outside and then you've got the next bit of empty line there for the next item. How efficient that would be!

mclarkie · 13/03/2018 09:06

Just having a laundry room would be nice, instead of having to do it all in the kitchen.

AR2012 · 13/03/2018 09:13

a FoldiMate

laurencxx28 · 13/03/2018 09:14

My dream laundry room would be upstairs as it would be so much easier to put clean clothes away. A huge washer and dryer with baskets for darks, colours and whites and if I'm dreaming can I have someone to do all the laundry for me.

LeeR1985 · 13/03/2018 09:16

Ideally someone to do it all for me Grin but a seperate washer and dryer, baskets for seperate colours and a shelf to pop the ironed clothes on until they're all done and ready to be put away

I would just love a laundry room full stop - all I have is a washing machine in the kitchen - Kirsty Allsop would hate it!

Sleavercole123 · 13/03/2018 09:20

A Miele washing machine

Treaclespongeandcustard · 13/03/2018 09:21

Lots of space, a washer and a desperate dryer with a cupboard for washing power, softener, vanish, etc. It would also have space to store a laundry basket, a home for an airer (and space to unfold it) and an airing cupboard. There would be a door out to a flat garden where a washing line would be waiting in full sunshine. There would be a little radio and a nanny to look after the kids :)

Treaclespongeandcustard · 13/03/2018 09:22

Oops, should have been a separate dryer but I'd forgive it if it's desperate - we have a lot of washing!
