Christmas is just around the corner which for many means the present lists are out and shopping mode is on. Thinking of what special gifts to get for everyone can be quite a task, however good old homemade treats often spread Christmas joy the most. Cadbury would like to know your homemade gift ideas using chocolate.

Do you create little Christmas chocolate hampers or gift bags? Perhaps you bake a chocolate cake and use individual chocolates or crumbled Flake or Crunchie as decoration? Or maybe you melt your favourite Cadbury chocolate and turn it into lollipops or transform it into your own bespoke chocolate bark to hand out?

Whatever your homemade chocolate gift ideas, share them on the thread below to be entered into a prize draw where one lucky MNer will win a £300 voucher of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck!

We usually bake cake pops in our machine and cover them in melted chocolate. The kids love decorating with colourful star shaped sprinkles and then once cooled and set, they are bagged up in sets of 6 with ribbons around the sticks, for distribution to the neighbours.

Ds has done pepprermint bark for his teachers for a couple of years now. Layer of melted dark chocolate in foil tray, layer of melted white chocolate, with peppermint essence dripped into it, on top and smashed up candy canes on top of that whilst still hot. Put the candy canes in a food bag and seal before smashing or spend months getting bits out of your carpet Grin. Leave to set.

We bag it up in chunks and it's easy to up the quantity for extra teachers. DS tells me we're making it for 5 teachers / TAs this year including breakfast club. You can add other bits, silver balls, sugar stars etc. if you want more sparkle.

It's easy enough for a 6-7 year old to help with and then slowly take over more parts as they get older.

I’m doing loads this year...
Chocolate mousse truffles
Chocolate dipped pretzels
Chocolate turtles
White chocolate bark with nuts, cranberries
Millionaires shortbread
Hot chcolate reindeers for kids
Plus baking a chocolate cake to take to a Christmas party!
It’s fair to say I like chocolate!

Chocolate truffles to share with everyone in the office:

1 (200g) tub cream cheese, softened
350g icing sugar, sifted
500g plain chocolate, melted
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla

Mix all the ingredients together (making sure the melted chocolate is not too hot), chill it for about 30 mins. Make ball shapes and roll in icing sugar. Leave in fridge overnight. Take into office to be demolished in seconds!

I've made very easy chocolate and marshmallow truffles before and they've been a hit. Not too much trouble to make and easy to wrap up and look fancy!

I made homemade chocolate truffles for my friends birthday and boxed them up beautifully. Each set of truffles had a different coating and they looked fab. The truffles were really appreciated and were gone in a flash !

I always bake peppermint slices to give as gifts and I make my own gift boxes for them too! I also serve them after dinner, as a sort of home made after dinner mint!

Its really good fun to use plastic moulds to make Christmassy figures and then wrap them in coloured foil and make decorations for the tree!

littlemonkeyz · 23/11/2017 14:20

We make tiny pastry tarts, pop a Choco in each one, a marshmallow on top and then bake. A great tiny treat!

I like to make Chocolate Truffles - they're super easy to make, look and taste great - make an excellent gift.

MimiJoy · 23/11/2017 14:23

I make my own marzipan sweets for Christmas gifts - usually incorporating cranberries and orange rind. So quick and easy to make, and especially nice when I roll each sweet in melted chocolate!
