Christmas is just around the corner which for many means the present lists are out and shopping mode is on. Thinking of what special gifts to get for everyone can be quite a task, however good old homemade treats often spread Christmas joy the most. Cadbury would like to know your homemade gift ideas using chocolate.

Do you create little Christmas chocolate hampers or gift bags? Perhaps you bake a chocolate cake and use individual chocolates or crumbled Flake or Crunchie as decoration? Or maybe you melt your favourite Cadbury chocolate and turn it into lollipops or transform it into your own bespoke chocolate bark to hand out?

Whatever your homemade chocolate gift ideas, share them on the thread below to be entered into a prize draw where one lucky MNer will win a £300 voucher of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck!

We make chocolate gifts for my son's teacher and TAs. We're making peppermint bark this year so milk and white chocolate topped with crushed peppermint candy canes. Last year we made cranberry chocolate fudge which went down very well.

We love to make tiffin. melted chocolate bowls are also a fave, we use a bowl covered in foil as a mould set in the fridge n then peel the foil away and feel with fruit and icecream.

I started to see lots of homemade chocolate cakes surrounded by chocolate fingers and topped with Maltesers. I am an absolutely rubbish baker but I thought I'd give it a go and was pleasantly surprise with the outcome! Really easy to do!

I make my own chocolate decorations for the tree by melting Cadbury chocolate and pouring it into moulds that I have. I then wrap the chocolates in foil and attach a tread of cotton with cellotape to hang the chocolate from the tree.

Put a piece of thread in a chocolate Mould (we have dinosaurs!) and fill with melted chocolate. When cool wrap in foil for tree decs. Can be made dairy free for those who avoid dairy as well (Cadbury why don’t you do more dairy free?).

Chocolate dipped strawberries go down well.

emmmaaa26 · 02/12/2017 19:18

We have some chocolate lolly molds that we decorate to look like Rudolph.

LollaLaLuna · 02/12/2017 20:28

I make homemade chocolate ice cream. It's delicious. This Xmas I will do it again with plum sauce and gingerbread topping.🍨

Maiyakat · 02/12/2017 21:52

I have a brilliant easy chocolate truffle recipe (think it came from a kids cook book originally!)

LittleMousewithcloggson · 02/12/2017 22:14

Melt cadburys chocolate ,stir in rice crispies and make them into Christmas pudding shapes. Pour melted white chocolate buttons on the top half when set and decorate with marzipan holly leaf.
Stick Reece's cups on the end of Cadbury mini rolls with melted chocolate to make cracker shapes then decorate.
Make a normal sponge cake, stick cadburys fingers around the edges and fill in the top with chocolate snowballs

This year I will be making strawberry fudge dipped in chocolate to give as gifts to local mum friends Smile

FlopIsMyParentingGuru · 03/12/2017 07:53

Chocolate "bark" that I let the kids go crazy with sprinkles on!

imustbemadme · 03/12/2017 08:44

We made brownie mix in a jar for the teachers last year all decorated with red ribbons and tags x

StrawberryYogs · 03/12/2017 11:49

We make homemade snickers and with cadbury's chocolate - tastes so fresh. Just melt a couple of huge bars spread them flatly on to 2 square pieces foil - when set add the peanut butter to one and sandwich them and cut up Unbelievably moreish and tastes 100% fresher than a snickers bar!

A piece of chocolate melted into the turkey gravy adds a beautiful smooth piquancy to the sauce- try it, you will be amazed!
2 squares grated dark chocolate per pint of gravy.

Festive Snowy Chocolate Trifle

Chocolate sponge cake( homemade is best)
You can also use a good quality swiss roll
Black cherry jam ( Bon Maman is just the right sort!)
2 tablespoons Custard powder
I pint Milk
2 tablespoons soft brown sugar
3 tablespoons cocoa powder
Chocolate Flakes
Tin de-stoned black cherries drained , syrup reserved
Whipping Cream 1/2 pint
Creme de Cacao 2 teaspoons( optional, not for kiddies)
Pure gold edible flakes
White mini marshmallows
Icing sugar

Method:

Make up your custard as usual with a little of the milk , also add 3 tablespoons of whipping cream also and the soft brown sugar. Beat in the cocoa powder. Heat the rest of the milk and when it is just below boiling pour onto the mixture. replace in saucepan and stir over a low heat until thickened.Lay cling film on the surface to prevent a skin and cool.
Meanwhile, split your sponges or swiss roll and spread with black cherry jam. Arrange in a pretty dish. Mix some of the cherry juice with creme de cacao and sprinkle over sponges, they should be softened and damp, keep testing as they macerate in the juice.Add more if necessary.
Add black cherries on top of sponges.
Pour over cooled chocolate custard.Refrigerate for 4 hours
When thoroughly cold; whip cream till fairly stiff and spread over trifle layer in peaks.
Decorate with crushed Cadbury flakes and whole Milk Tray chocs . Dust very lightly with 'snow' icing sugar and finally add mini marshmallows and gold flakes before serving.

Add WOWS!

We make hot chocolate spoons as gifts for teachers. Melt chocolate pour into silicone ice cube tray. Stick in a Christmas plastic spoon (pound shop sell packs of these or you could just use red/green) sprinkle over different toppings eg mini marshmallows, crushed up crunchie, chocolate buttons (white chocolate chocolate with milk chocolate spoons goes well). Leave to set. To wrap we pop on top of a cardboard Xmas gift tag then wrap with cellophane and ribbon. We give in a mug with a miniature of Baileys.

AhCheeses · 03/12/2017 22:24

Each year my two boys and I make peppermint creams and dip them into melted chocolate. They like to box them up and give them to people before Christmas. Teachers, neighbours, relatives... we make plenty for everyone!
They like to sneak a few as we make them and our favourite bit is scraping the chocolate out of the bowl afterwards!

mayathebee · 03/12/2017 22:35

We make chocolate lollies (milk or dark chocolate with white chocolate swirls) and add dried cranberries for that xmas feel.

saltedcaramelhotchoc · 04/12/2017 05:51

I make Christmassy rocky road, chocolate iced gingerbread and have Aldi silicone chocolate moulds to make seasonal chocolate too, which I then pop in seasonal snowflake bags from Lakeland or Poundland (!) and give to people.
I also make mini chocolate parcel brownies and shortbread trees dipped in chocolate.
Finally and not specifically Christmassy I make choc flapjack from a Cadbury's book which is divine...

mclarkie · 04/12/2017 09:23

Fudge in Christmas shapes (xmas tree, star, ect) dipped in chocolate.

NinonDeLenclos · 04/12/2017 09:28

I make Christmas chocolate tiffins with amaretti, dried cherries (not glacé!) and roast almonds. Not with Cadbury's chocolate though - yuck!

SparkleFizz · 04/12/2017 11:24

We have a mould for making a chocolate train, complete with chocolate tender that can be filled with little sweeties.

It goes down very well with children, but it is a bit on the big side.

ForTheLoveOfSleep · 04/12/2017 13:06

Chocolate dipping sauces with fruits, nuts, biscotti... Anything really.

Jocelynne123 · 04/12/2017 18:02

My daughter always gets a little chocolate hamper. We also like to do strawberries and marshmallows dipped in chocolate xx

katieskatie82 · 04/12/2017 19:39
