Christmas is just around the corner which for many means the present lists are out and shopping mode is on. Thinking of what special gifts to get for everyone can be quite a task, however good old homemade treats often spread Christmas joy the most. Cadbury would like to know your homemade gift ideas using chocolate.

Do you create little Christmas chocolate hampers or gift bags? Perhaps you bake a chocolate cake and use individual chocolates or crumbled Flake or Crunchie as decoration? Or maybe you melt your favourite Cadbury chocolate and turn it into lollipops or transform it into your own bespoke chocolate bark to hand out?

Whatever your homemade chocolate gift ideas, share them on the thread below to be entered into a prize draw where one lucky MNer will win a £300 voucher of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck!

I buy sweet paper cases. Melt dark chocolate and paint the chocolate into the paper cases, leave to set and repeat 3 or 4 times.
When completely set make a praline chocolate mix and fill the centre of the chocolate cases with it, leave to set in the fridge, take the paper cases off the chocolates and pipe a swirl of chocolate praline mix onto the top.
These along with homemade rum truffles, vanilla, cherry & rum 'n' raisin fudge and some turkish delight are presents for the teachers.
Any left over are soon devoured by the children and the adults.

Love chucking lots of things, i.e. raisins, broken maltesers or honeycomb, nuts and so on, into a brownie tray then pouring chocolate on to it, once its set it makes a lovely gift, broken into little shards and bagged up with a bow.

Chocolate brownies accompanied by a kit to make their own

As a kid my mum used to make mini chocolate covered mint balls and put them in film type packages for presents for the teachers at my primary school. You've just reminded me about it so I'd love to try it myself I haven't a clue what the mint flavour balls were made from so I'll have to have a look for a recipe.

Not very original, I know, but I always make little Santa’s Sleighs out of vchocolate bars of various sizes, with a chocolate Santa at the front and candy canes on the bottom. They look good, actually, and don’t take much effort (I’m not very artistic!).

Does cocoa count?
chocolate crunch =1 cup each oats+desicated coconut, half a cup each sugar and unsweetened cocoa. Mix, stir into melted butter or oil to make a stiff dough.
These hold together really well for cutting out with fancy shapes and are a change from the gingery Christmas biscuits. They are a lot less sweet than the ginger mix too. I also manage to burn the edges of the ginger ones. These probably cost more though than ginger bics.
Choc crunch takes 20 mins on 180 degrees.

We use cadbury dairy milk chocolate for our brownies.

Chocolate yule log dusted in icing sugar

A snowy winter scene on a cheesecake or individual muffins, with Cadbury's chocolate and biscuit snowman, penguins, santa, trees, reindeer, presents etc. I'd suggest leaving foil on the 'characters' until it was time to eat.

Chocolate covered fudge pieces in a nice box, made by the kids for teachers.

We make marshmallows dipped in chocolate and hundred and thousands with a Lilly stick or we make Rocky road both really simple and quick with no cooking

GinYummy · 29/11/2017 13:43

We make caramel shortbread. When the chocolate on top is poured we sprinkle on crushed up honeycomb to make it look extra special and christmassy!

KnottedAnchorChief · 29/11/2017 16:28

We made chocolate rice crispy cakes and then covered them with mini smarties, silver and gold balls and glitter! Looks like sparkly reindeer poo.

Has to be Nigellas Christmas rocky road one of our favourites, chocolate, marshmallows, glaced cherries and amaretto biscuits.

Kickassname · 29/11/2017 19:32

I make a chocolate cake from a recipe out of a one thousand year old Be-Ro book passed down by my grandma. It has tons of chocolate chips in. I put it in a fancy tin to give to family members. I also make one for us at home p. The recipe doesn't call for this but I actually like to drizzle melted chocolate on it before eating. In fact I'd be pretty happy with just a bowl of melted chocolate and a spoon. My partner and dd like Cadbury but I prefer galaxy if I'm honest. Probably shouldn't admit that here. This thread has made me hungry.

I always make a chocolate log for our family on Christmas Eve. I am hoping to receive lots of chocolate gifts!

CecilyBlue · 29/11/2017 20:45

I make fudge with chocolate and carnation caramel and then put it in pretty Christmas gift bags for DS’s teachers.

user1496053440 · 29/11/2017 21:19

The only thing I can make with chocolate is melting it and using it to make rice krispie cakes. They do make nice presents though.

lalalauren416 · 29/11/2017 21:20

Oreo truffles, really easy and they taste amazing!
