Christmas is just around the corner which for many means the present lists are out and shopping mode is on. Thinking of what special gifts to get for everyone can be quite a task, however good old homemade treats often spread Christmas joy the most. Cadbury would like to know your homemade gift ideas using chocolate.

Do you create little Christmas chocolate hampers or gift bags? Perhaps you bake a chocolate cake and use individual chocolates or crumbled Flake or Crunchie as decoration? Or maybe you melt your favourite Cadbury chocolate and turn it into lollipops or transform it into your own bespoke chocolate bark to hand out?

Whatever your homemade chocolate gift ideas, share them on the thread below to be entered into a prize draw where one lucky MNer will win a £300 voucher of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck!

DC bought a chocolate coin maker from the charity shop and it comes with foil and little net bags etc. We bought some Giant Cadburys Buttons to melt down so that it would be decent chocolate and DC made little bags of coins to give away.

This year I shall be making chocolate truffles to give to my friends and family they are so easy, I add gin , baileys or whisky to the adults truffles, and chocolate ones rolled in nuts, coconut, or popping candy for the children, They look lovely when presented in pretty boxes.

We melt chocolate with shortbread crumbs and then roll in to balls and dust with hot chocolate powder.

Homemade truffles and always very popular.

Surely to make anything with chocolate is just a risk of spoiling the chocolate. No one would turn their nose up at a straightforward gift of chocolate, surely? No need to make anything!

Chocolate brownies with dark chocolate melted in, then sprinkled with icing sugar while having cutout Xmas trees on the slices... Lift off the Xmas trees and you get instant Xmas brownies!

Chocolate moulds, decorate then put in little bags as gifts

MakeTeaNotWar · 01/12/2017 13:46

I am really rubbish at making and baking so I'd gift the chocolate I'd bought and not mess about with it in any way

Mine is a simple no bake recipe for Chocolate Pretzels. You can use Dairy Milk, or melt some White cadbury buttons if you prefer. Coat the pretzels (look for festive star shaped ones!) in chocolate, lay to dry on a baking sheet, I like to thinly drizzle a different colour chocolate on top too, and then sprinkle on festive sprinkles! You can even add a bit of glitter to make them extra special. They look SO good and they taste amazing!! Simple but wonderful.

We go to the pick-your-own fruit farm and make jam. Then at Christmas they decorate labels for their teachers and other important adults.

grannybiker · 01/12/2017 22:22

Meant to add - we buy cheapie tray bakes, then decorate excessively to give the hand-made appeal!

I make little Yule logs in silicon moulds that I bought one year from Ebay. I use a basic chocolate biscuit cake recipe, using Bourneville dark. But I use shortbread, which holds its shape really well, and crystallised ginger (chopped up) and dried cherries which have a slightly sour edge to them, so it's a little more interesting than the usual kind with raisins. Sometimes I add mini marshmallows, sometimes I don't - depends on guest. When they're set and turned out I put a little marzipan holly and berries thing on them. They're easy as you don't have to learn how to temper chocolate, but they're very yummy. I use Bourneville as Dairy Milk would be too sweet.

It's lovely to do with the kids, as there's no actual baking so super safe, but they genuinely taste good and look quite impressive.

I once kept the inner plastic from a chocolate advent calendar that was shaped as little hearts and we re-fill them to use as moulds then top the chocolate with things like freeze dried raspberries, dessicated coconut etc to look pretty

Chocolate fudge with white green and red sprinkles on top
