It’s hard to believe that there was once a time when all our gadgets didn’t exist and people had to live without modern essentials such as a washing machine Shock! Co-op Electrical would like to find out which electrical item you couldn’t live without, whether it’s one that helps with everyday life or a luxury item.

Here’s what Co-op Electrical has to say: “Electrical items are now so much a part of our lives that it’s easy to take them for granted. But we know that when our customers need a new washing machine, cooker or fridge-freezer, they need it quickly, which is why we offer next day delivery to most parts of the UK. Even a few days without a ‘luxury’ item like a TV or tablet can feel tough!"

Would you be lost without your laptop? Or is your TV precious to you as it can keep the DC occupied and allow you to watch Strictly Glitterball? Would you fail to function without your coffee machine? Or maybe your fancy straighteners are a necessity to battle frizz?

Whatever electrical item you would feel lost without, please share it below. Everyone who posts on the thread will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 voucher of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck!

My washing machine, I love my washing machine,I even get slightly anxious if it makes a strange noise anticipating a breakdown. Anything else and I'd cope without but the washing machine dying would be a disaster for me.

doleritedinosaur · 24/02/2018 19:54

My tumble dryer, had it over a year now and I don't know how I coped before. Its a game changer and means the house is way less damp.

Intotheclouds · 25/02/2018 00:02

Fridge freezer! I can't imagine not having the luxury of being able to store cold/frozen food so that it last more than a day or two. I can't imagin what the food bill would be like having to buy everything fresh every 1-2 days. (Not including what we already have to do that with as we go through so much 🙈)

ThenBellaDidSomethingVeryKind · 25/02/2018 18:34

It’s a dilemma: probably my straighteners 😯

PhuntSox · 25/02/2018 18:38

My washing machine, I couldn't wash all the clothes!

AveAtqueVale · 25/02/2018 20:13

It’s a toss-up between my phone and my dishwasher. Both are important to my sanity Grin.

limetree11 · 02/03/2018 15:54

my freezer, especially useful for batch cooking, bulk buying and hiding ice cream in..

stopbeingabloodyvictim · 05/03/2018 16:48

Fridge freezer. It's the only real essential as I have an aga so have a means to cook

DonaldWeasley · 05/03/2018 21:28

The dishwasher is my very favourite.

DoryNora · 05/03/2018 22:32

The washing machine, there is no way I could hand wash everything! I would be absolutely lost without it! The less I have to touch DP’s dirty boxers the better Grin

Cambam2010 · 06/03/2018 14:09

I think I'll chose my Slow Cooker. It helps me during my busy weekday routine and we also take it when we go away in our campervan.

It's also good at Christmas for heating up litres of mulled wine.

inashizzle · 08/03/2018 08:29

Fridge freezer for me. A week of waiting for a new one years ago was like purgatory .

scaredofthecity · 08/03/2018 08:40

Boring but washing machine definately.

Imgettingcheesefries · 08/03/2018 08:52

My tumble dryer, I've got 4 dcs and it's on daily in winter

Treaclespongeandcustard · 08/03/2018 10:26

My tumble dryer, it has revolutionised my life. I have no idea how I got to 40 without one!!

Eeeeek2 · 08/03/2018 10:30

Kettle - morning cuppa Brew Grin essential to life

ScreamingValenta · 08/03/2018 17:04

Has to be the fridge. I've lived without a freezer, but not the fridge.

TellMeItsNotTrue · 08/03/2018 21:13

It's tough, we recently had the electricity off for the day while a workman was here and it really made us realise just how much we rely on electricity now!

I would have to say the washing machine, with 3 DC who like messy activities, it feels like it's never off!

SilverJellyfish · 10/03/2018 13:23

I resisted getting a tumble drier for years but now I don't know how I ever managed living with damp clothes hanging around the house!

pongopig · 10/03/2018 13:30

Washing machine. Dishwasher is second but washing up by hand is much easier than washing clothes by hand. I remember doing that as a young person when I couldn’t get to the launderette and it was a pain.

SilverHairedCat · 10/03/2018 13:38

My hairdryer. I could live without everything else. I have very thick long hair, and if I don't dry it, I end up freezing all day long! In summer I'm fine to let it dry naturally, but in the winter I'd end up shivering all day!

Custardo · 10/03/2018 15:39

laptop
we dont have a telly so laptop is how i watch stuff

a fridge might be useful ....hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm its a toss up

would i raher have a fridge or a laptop

a laptop deffo - i'll buy take out

ChocolateChipMuffin2016 · 14/03/2018 09:42

This is a tough one, probably my straighteners, my hair is a nightmare otherwise!

YesitsJacqueline · 14/03/2018 11:18

My washing machine - it's on non stop ! when I lived alone I scoffed at my cousin who said her machine is on 3 times a day ......with a DS and DSS - it's non stop

CombineBananaFister · 15/03/2018 17:16

It would have to be my Lavazza coffee machine, my DH and DS often joke it is the fourth family member, I love it so much Grin
TBH, it benefits everyone that I continue to have access to it or they would have to put up with me minus caffeine which is not so great Blush
