It’s hard to believe that there was once a time when all our gadgets didn’t exist and people had to live without modern essentials such as a washing machine Shock! Co-op Electrical would like to find out which electrical item you couldn’t live without, whether it’s one that helps with everyday life or a luxury item.

Here’s what Co-op Electrical has to say: “Electrical items are now so much a part of our lives that it’s easy to take them for granted. But we know that when our customers need a new washing machine, cooker or fridge-freezer, they need it quickly, which is why we offer next day delivery to most parts of the UK. Even a few days without a ‘luxury’ item like a TV or tablet can feel tough!"

Would you be lost without your laptop? Or is your TV precious to you as it can keep the DC occupied and allow you to watch Strictly Glitterball? Would you fail to function without your coffee machine? Or maybe your fancy straighteners are a necessity to battle frizz?

Whatever electrical item you would feel lost without, please share it below. Everyone who posts on the thread will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 voucher of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck!

GinYummy · 29/11/2017 13:46

My combo washer/dryer. I am thankful everytime i take out a load that is washed and dried with absolutely no effort from me.

tishist · 30/11/2017 01:32

I couldn't live without the fridge freezer or washing machine - it's a draw!

ilovekitkats · 30/11/2017 13:03

I would be lost without my ipad as it is my main entertainment source, for social media, reading, puzzles, games, email etc.

Ollycat · 30/11/2017 15:08

My washing machine and dryer- the amount of time hand washing and drying would take would be vast. My children are teens and do a lot of sports so I am constantly washing smelly kit!

Candyperfumegirl · 30/11/2017 20:12

Our coffee maker for sure! We've only had it a month but I honestly wonder how I lived without one for so long!

Washington machine

Washing Machine! I swear I wash more clothes than the DC actually wear Hmm

holidayqueriwifi · 05/12/2017 18:05

My hoover!! It's just broken and I am forever sweeping up! I spent the money I could have used to buy a new one on repairing the old one - only for it to remain broken. It screams when you switch it on...

cordless dyson, love love love my one!!

and of course my laptop...

I couldn't live without my fan which I have on 24/7 to mask the noise of my tinnitus. People think I'm bonkers when they visit in December and the fan is going! But it's so much better than any of the white noise cds or apps, and it keeps me calm. I love it.

Tv

Doingthebattybat · 15/12/2017 16:36

My electric blanket. My flat is sooooo cold.

Megansmumsie · 16/12/2017 21:52

Oooooh damn that's a good question!

Being that my fridge freezer has been broken for about 6 months- i know i can mostly live without it but it sucks not being able to freeze anything and plan ahead so really that's something i miss having.

We were given a tassimo drinks machine for our anniversary in November and i love that little git like it's part of the family, it hurts me to lift up the kettle (health iss) and with this little gizmo i just stick in a tab thingamajiga and off it goes!!

Been having this debate with DS who is hoping to move in to his first home In January & needs everything!

We got the essentials down to a kitchen trio; Cooker, fridge freezer & washing machine, but there's plenty of nice to have's too Smile

PorridgeAgainAbney · 18/12/2017 13:24

Was going to put dishwasher but actually I think it's the freezer. Most of our food is batch-cooked so it saves me so much time on a daily basis and also saves money because I bulk buy meat when it's offer and bung it in there!

formerbabe · 18/12/2017 17:01

My washing machine...it's used at least twice a day.

On a more frivolous note, my hair dryer. My hair would take hours to dry without it!

Earthmoon · 18/12/2017 18:05

Fridge freezer

Butterfly1975 · 19/12/2017 21:39

Now I have one.... a dishwasher! How did I live without one? Xmas Grin

Cheekyandfreaky · 20/12/2017 21:46

Dishwasher or dryer.

My dishwasher saves us about an hour a day I swear.

My dryer is just wonderful- no more damp and most of the time we don’t need to iron a lot of things after.

I also love my Magimix- I use it for so many different things- grating, mixing, whisking, chopping- and I can put it in the dishwasher- result!

HintBean · 20/12/2017 21:48

My condenser dryer.

SparkleFizz · 28/12/2017 14:16

I’m struggling to pick between the washing machine or the fridge freezer, but I think the fridge freezer just has the edge.

If we’re talking non essential electrical items, the smartphone is top of the list of items I couldn’t live without.

ladygoingGaga · 28/12/2017 19:11

Has to be a washing machine, with 3 DC’s and a DH all sport mad, all wear uniform I would be forever at a laundrette or at a sink with wrinkly hands Grin

I actually feel sorry for the neighbours who must hear it spinning all times of day and night.

Tour · 28/12/2017 19:26

I couldn’t live without my hair straighteners. My hair naturally is like Monica from friend on holiday... “it’s the humidity”. If it weren’t for straighteners I’d have to shave my head and buy a wig Grin
