It’s hard to believe that there was once a time when all our gadgets didn’t exist and people had to live without modern essentials such as a washing machine Shock! Co-op Electrical would like to find out which electrical item you couldn’t live without, whether it’s one that helps with everyday life or a luxury item.

Here’s what Co-op Electrical has to say: “Electrical items are now so much a part of our lives that it’s easy to take them for granted. But we know that when our customers need a new washing machine, cooker or fridge-freezer, they need it quickly, which is why we offer next day delivery to most parts of the UK. Even a few days without a ‘luxury’ item like a TV or tablet can feel tough!"

Would you be lost without your laptop? Or is your TV precious to you as it can keep the DC occupied and allow you to watch Strictly Glitterball? Would you fail to function without your coffee machine? Or maybe your fancy straighteners are a necessity to battle frizz?

Whatever electrical item you would feel lost without, please share it below. Everyone who posts on the thread will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 voucher of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck!

My hand held blender. Man. I use it all the time.
My fridge, obviously.
My oven.

But with kids and a baby I blend A LOT!

Kettle. I can do anything as long as I have constant cups of tea.

Fridge I think too. Closely followed by the washing machine!

tumble dryer...

I've always hated drying racks! and since moving from a dry country...where I could put my washing out and its dry in under an hour...to Glasgow.... I dont know how I'd cope without one!!!!

also... microwave... I have two children , limited time and loads in my freezer.

oh and phone and mac! Can't imagine going back to a windows PC... I guard it with my life really!

On a practical level, my fridge freezer. But really I'd be lost without my laptop, both for work purposes and for entertainment.

Definitely the tv. When I'm alone it gives me company and another voice in the house. Radio just isn't the same.

My washer/dryer. With 4 dc under 7. It is a must. We go through more washing each day then food. I can't go a day without using it at least once or the laundry takes weeks to catch up on.

Dishwasher! Obviously I could live without it, but I frequently marvel at how much I love it!

Definitely a fridge. I would spend a fortune on food without one.

I'm sure I could live without any electrical but I am grateful for my washing machine and missed it a lot when it broke down last!

I'd be terrified to be without my boiler !! With 5 extremely messy young kids a bath each every night is essential but I couldn't do it like older generations did with a kettle on the cooker to heat the water, I'd go potty it'd be so much hard work and take forever !! Also as a mum of 5 mischievous kids being without my kettle for a calming cuppa would also send me into a bag of crumbs ConfusedGrinBrew

OK, like many others I'm going to assume that boring but essential things like fridge, washing machine, WiFi box and phone are given. In which case, I'm going to keep my Kenwood Cooking Chef. It's by far the most money I've ever spent on any single item for myself, but I use it every day and each time I do, it brings me a little leap of joy to my cynical old heart. If my house were burning down, its what I'd rescue. The DCs have been trained to retrieve the attachments.

It would have to be my washing machine. If I didn't have that. I'd make the family wear paper clothes - I can't imagine how long it would take to wash everything by hand.

Definitely the IPad as I can do online shopping, use Facebook to stay in touch with friends and family, send emails etc.
