Now that the nights are drawing in, and with half term around the corner, movie nights can be a great way to spend some quality time with your family and enjoy the warm indoors. To celebrate their new collection of Animated movies, Sky Cinema would like to hear about your family’s favourite animation films, both new and old.

Here’s what Sky Cinema has to say: “This October, Sky Cinema has put together our biggest ever collection of animated movies to brighten up your Autumn. The collection includes a wide range of animated movies, from the latest hits such as Sing and Kubo and the Two Strings to Disney-Pixar movies like The Incredibles or the Ice Age movies. All available to watch whenever you want on demand.”

Has a recent release, such as Secret Life of Pets or Trolls, become a firm favourite? Or, do you love the nostalgia of passing on a classic like Fantasia? Whether your family prefer the new ones or the classics, or both, Sky Cinema would like to hear about your favourite animation films - and why they manage to make it onto the list.

All who post below about their family’s favourite animation films will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 John Lewis voucher.

Thanks and good luck!

Home is my favourite and the DC's favourites are Moana and Trolls

PugwallsSummer · 06/10/2017 19:34

We love the Hasbro Equestria Girls movies - great characters and fantastic soundtracks. Can only watch them on the iPad though - would be great to watch on Sky Cinema.

TorNayDoh · 06/10/2017 19:37

I love Megamind, very much my sense of humour.

ApocalypseNowt · 06/10/2017 19:43

I love Secret Life of Pets! It's brilliant. Luckily my DD's like it too so I get to watch it fairly often.

Our other favourite is Ice Age. They're all good but the first is my favourite - bought it ages before having DC and used to watch it all the time! DD's like the one with the dinosaurs best.

I also love Up but I don't think i could watch it again. I cried so much through it that DH and my best friend thought there was actually something seriously wrong with me......

You can't beat the old Disney films like Snow White, Bambi, Dumbo and so on, but Peppa Pig is a great favourite here.

AWholeLottaRosie · 06/10/2017 20:52

Snow White, Cinderella and Antz

Chocness · 06/10/2017 20:58

Toy Story 1 & 2 although 1 is by far our favourite. Great story line, extremely funny for adults and very entertaining for little ones. The music and variety of characters is just fantastic. Also really like spotting the famous voices. It's just great. It will never date and is a real family favourite.

Hopezibah · 06/10/2017 21:17

despicable me definitely a fave, Also we love films like UP. I used to love the classics , but i think the new ones are so clever and relatable to both adults and kids that I prefer new ones these days for sure.

FlukeSkyeRunner · 06/10/2017 21:20

Its a tough call. Got to be The Incredibles or Monsters Inc, both are funny, clever and everything for kids of all ages.

honeyandginger48 · 06/10/2017 21:38

Toy Story, The Nightmare before Christmas and Lilo and Stitch are favourites in our house.

CordeliaScott · 06/10/2017 22:08

I love Trolls. DD loves it and is obsessed with anything Troll themed. The soundtrack is awesome as well.

Tonkatol · 06/10/2017 23:18

My absolute favourite has to be Jungle Book (original animated version), followed by Lion King. I took my youngest daughter to see the more recent version of Jungle Book at the cinema - I didn't think I would like it at all but was pleasantly surprised.

My four children vary in age between 22 and 11 and their favourite animations are Lion King, Toy Story 1, 2 & 3 (unusually, not just the first film in the series), Little Mermaid, Shrek and Moana.

TellMeItsNotTrue · 06/10/2017 23:51

Shrek has always been a family favourite and it's one where all of the films are enjoyed, unlike a lot of sequels to popular films who mentioned grease 2?

The despicable me / minion films have now joined them too, but I would say shrek still wins with these a close second

kazlau · 07/10/2017 00:05

We started the GC off onto Disney from the minute they could focus on the TV. The classic Cinderella was a firm favourite with DGD and Toy Story with DGS. Recently Moana rose to the top for both of them (the songs are less irritating than frozen 😝) and looks like becoming a firm favourite. We showed them Pinocchio which, had it been modern animation, would have made a bigger impact but it was seriously dated for them.

Frozen fever is still a thing in our house. Now the winter is drawing in, it feels appropriate somehow. The 19 month old sings 'let it go' complete with arm gestures. It is the only time she will sit on the sofa instead of bouncing on it! In fact she is watching it now (6:30am) while I drink coffee and try to be human.

Wishingandwaiting · 07/10/2017 06:30

Inside Out.

Me, my 7 year old and my 4 year old loved every moment.

Alltheprettyseahorses · 07/10/2017 07:25

Most Disney films obviously, especially Frozen, Tangled and Beauty and the Beast. Trolls is good and Poppy is a positive female portrayal. Spirited Away is gorgeous.

My favourite though has to be Barbie: the Princess and the Popstar. It's a cracking film from start to finish and I feel no shame.

littleredpear · 07/10/2017 07:35

Beauty and the beast. We know all the words!

HF80 · 07/10/2017 08:49

The lion king is our family’s favourite. Great soundtrack.

purplepandas · 07/10/2017 08:50

Trolls is a firm favourite here.

revelsandrose · 07/10/2017 08:59

My eldest ds favourite was always Madagascar, middle ds loved toy story waiting to see what youngest ds (6 months) favourite will be!

Mine has to be jungle book, the original version!

GoodyGoodyGumdrops · 07/10/2017 09:02

Wallace and Grommet (all), Shrek (1 and 2), Toy Story (all) and Monsters Inc - excellent stories and awesome animation.

Also Mary Poppins, Bedknobs and Broomsticks, and Who Framed Roger Rabbit for the marvellous combination of live action with animation (as well as everything else!).

Cheerybigbottom · 07/10/2017 09:05

So delighted when Mulan came on Sky Cinema last week, can't stop singing the songs! 5 year old son forever watching Wreck it Ralph and the Pixar shirts-Inner Workings current fave.

EsmeeMerlin · 07/10/2017 10:39

There are a few we all like.

Trolls
Boss Baby
Moana
Frozen.

A lot of them are funny and can be enjoyed by adults and children. I make my partner take our son to the animated films I won't enjoy like the Lego movies.

Rigbyroo · 07/10/2017 12:09

Love Moana! Cannot stop myself from singing. Want to see sing next.
