Now that the nights are drawing in, and with half term around the corner, movie nights can be a great way to spend some quality time with your family and enjoy the warm indoors. To celebrate their new collection of Animated movies, Sky Cinema would like to hear about your family’s favourite animation films, both new and old.

Here’s what Sky Cinema has to say: “This October, Sky Cinema has put together our biggest ever collection of animated movies to brighten up your Autumn. The collection includes a wide range of animated movies, from the latest hits such as Sing and Kubo and the Two Strings to Disney-Pixar movies like The Incredibles or the Ice Age movies. All available to watch whenever you want on demand.”

Has a recent release, such as Secret Life of Pets or Trolls, become a firm favourite? Or, do you love the nostalgia of passing on a classic like Fantasia? Whether your family prefer the new ones or the classics, or both, Sky Cinema would like to hear about your favourite animation films - and why they manage to make it onto the list.

All who post below about their family’s favourite animation films will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 John Lewis voucher.

Thanks and good luck!

Our family favourites are wreck it Ralph and tangled.

user1473337123 · 10/10/2017 10:45

We love Tangled, Trolls and all the Despicable Me films. Nothing better than a family film all snuggled up on the sofa xx

Sillysausage123 · 10/10/2017 13:54

Road to Eldorado still makes me laugh and brings back memories of my son when he was little

sorrycamel · 10/10/2017 15:36

Robin Hood and Beauty and the Beast are my favourites.

I do like the modern ones too though.

Baldwin1973 · 10/10/2017 15:42

Definitely 'Inside out'. I watched it with my daughters the day before my youngest started school and cried all the way through it. A brilliant film.

iklboo · 10/10/2017 15:48

Belleville Rendezvous. You hardly see it anywhere though.

brendansmum · 10/10/2017 16:24

I love the classic Disney films Aladdin, Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast. The Little Mermaid was the first film I ever saw in the cinema!

ClashCityRocker · 10/10/2017 18:21

Disney Robin hood for me.

That fox was my first love 🦊

Rainshowers · 10/10/2017 18:26

Mine is Sleeping Beauty. My parents rented it so many times from the video shop that the owner gave them one of the copies (they'd probably paid for it 5 times over by that point!)

Trolls is a huge win with DS (3) - which he sings and dances along to, the same way DD (now7) did when it first came out. I love to see them enjoying movies and especially ones that encourage them to sing and dance.

That said I miss animated "Classics" that I watched as a kid, "The Phantom Tollbooth" and "The Water Babies". Both where part reality, part animated, but amazing stories I often check various streaming services to see if I can find them, but sadly no luck to date.

Toy story 1, 2 & 3 .. 3 still makes me cry!!

nerysw · 10/10/2017 20:43

I loved The Fox and the Hound, am so old I saw it on a rare trip to the cinema when I was little.

2016mumma · 10/10/2017 21:18

Disney 101 Dalmatians

Zebee · 10/10/2017 21:18

Toy story was such a game changer in animated films.

2016mumma · 10/10/2017 21:19

Disneys 101 Dalmatians
I was obsessed with it as a child and it was always the film that was put on when I was poorly. Now it reminds me of being snuggled up on the sofa as a kid

Cagliostro · 10/10/2017 21:32

Anime is a big favourite here - castle of cagliostro (hence the name :o), spirited away, ponyo especially

Disney wise, big hero six and wreck it ralph are the biggest favourites

I'm really nerdy about foreign animation generally, and the most popular ones I've foisted on the DCs are the princes quest, tales of the night and the king and the mockingbird

goose1964 · 10/10/2017 21:32

It has to be the nightmare before Christmas, lovely story and great songs

HermanCakeDestroyer · 10/10/2017 21:33

We love the despicable me animations in our family!

Cagliostro · 10/10/2017 21:34

My childhood favourites were Alice in wonderland and fantasia!

Other ones we love are hotel Transylvania 1/2, the Lorax, megamind, cloudy with a chance of meatballs (especially 2) and my DS and I love Kubo but have to watch it when DD is out as she finds it scary!

Cagliostro · 10/10/2017 21:37

Oh my gosh MTB I had no idea there had ever been an animated version of the phantom tollbooth! One of my favourite childhood stories, I must read it to my dcs soon. I was in a local theatre production of it age 10, I was the spelling bee! I can still spell antidisestablishmentarianism in under 4 seconds 😂😂

mermaidsandunicorns · 10/10/2017 23:00

Nightmare before Christmas is my fave ❤️

Loopylind · 11/10/2017 00:46

Toy Story
Just as Andy grew up, we did too 😭

WhirlwindHugs · 11/10/2017 07:35

Ponyo! Such a firm favourite in our house, they even eat ramen now because I renamed it Ponyo Soup. Our 4, 5 and 8yos love Sosuke and Ponyo's friendship, I think because it's so sibling like, with a little bit of awe about the cool things the other can do and they relate to that much better than a romantic storyline.

NutellaDoughnut · 11/10/2017 08:48

Beauty and the Beast is my favourite. I am waiting until ds is slightly older to introduce him to it, as he gets very emotionally involved with films.
