Technology has not only become such a big part of our lives, but it’s also evolving at a rapid rate, meaning that we can often feel that our computers and laptops aren’t keeping up with the needs of our families. Whether you and your family need a laptop just to browse the web and keep in touch with friends or you have creative needs that need to be met, Intel would like to hear about what you’d look for when purchasing a new PC or laptop for your family.

Here’s what Intel have to say: “If your computer is more than a handful of years old, you’re missing more than you know! Today’s Modern PCs are more powerful, lighter and have a longer battery life. But with so many different options available how do you know which one to choose for your family? Whether your children are school aged or studying at college or university there is some great video advice on how to choose here.

A new thin and light laptop with an Intel® Pentium® processor is perfect for homework, watching video clips and streaming movies from a service like Netflix*. However, if your child is more creative and likes to edit video or create music then they will appreciate the extra performance from an Intel® Core™ processor.

Computers with the latest Intel® Core™ processor inside are more amazing than ever. They have the fast performance to switch between multiple applications simultaneously and stunning 4K Ultra HD visuals. The long battery life is perfect to keep children happy when travelling. Some now have screens that flip over to stand like a tent – which is great for watching movies. Plus, there are new ways to interact with your computer, including voice and touch control and Windows Hello allows uses facial recognition for hassle-free log-ins. With a range of smart, stylish designs and screen sizes, there’s an Intel®-powered laptop at Argos to fit any budget.”

Do you have a resident gamer who needs the software to be fast? Perhaps you look for a long battery life to ensure your children can watch a full movie without needing a charger? Or maybe your family has a creative flare, so you look for a laptop and/or PC with extra performance to edit video, create music and or just manage lots of photographs?

Whatever your family would be able to do with a new PC and/or laptop, share this on the thread below. All MNers who comment on the thread will be entered into a prize draw, where one lucky MNer will win a £300 Argos voucher.

Thanks and good luck!

With a small laptop I would be able to do some paid online surveys on the go to help earn a bit of extra money or vouchers which would really come in a handy.

RACHELSMITH45 · 09/09/2017 17:44

I'd love a new laptop. Mine is so old it takes twenty minutes to boot up. By the time it's up and running I forgot what I turned it on t,do! Smile

KAKADU2001 · 09/09/2017 17:50

New Laptop would be great for helping our two youngest grandsons with their homework as they love doing internet research. Would also help my Teacher wife and I as we are currently learning a new foreign language.

APJ1 · 09/09/2017 18:03

Browsing websites and downloading music and video.

Marg2k8 · 09/09/2017 18:04

A new laptop would save me and hubby from sharing the one that I am using to type this. He likes to go on Ebay and Amazon looking at CD's and DVD's and I like to go on forums and play games and enter competitions.

WhosTakingDeHorseToFrance · 09/09/2017 18:12

My DC's would want to use it for games, the reality is it'd be for homework as we are approaching secondary school age where it'll all be online!

sm2012 · 09/09/2017 18:26

We're desperate for a new computer now both my older two daughters have a lot of homework. I also need to sort out all the photos and our current pc is soooo slow!

Kennylou12 · 09/09/2017 18:56

We are keen writers so we could focus on our writing projects. I want to start writing a cookbook and a new computer would really help that.

lhlee62 · 09/09/2017 18:56

We need a laptop which is fast, lightweight and able to hold a lot of data. We like to download films and watch them when we go away. I then like to use a laptop for checking emails, playing games and my husband needs the laptop to do work including spreadsheets, but he's a bit rubbish with computers so it needs to be easy to use!

Sid98 · 09/09/2017 18:59

I would be able to get all my things done and my kids would be able to use it for their homework

heavenlypink · 09/09/2017 19:04

Actually use the gadget I have for scanning negatives and store them onto the laptop

arat · 09/09/2017 19:09

The kids have their laptop which they have to share for doing homework, which is OK-ish, but DD goes up to secondary school next year, so sharing will rapidly become an issue!

towser44 · 09/09/2017 19:23

We need a new laptop for storing and viewing all the photos we seem to take of our DD growing up!

devito92 · 09/09/2017 19:34

We're always away from home whilst my son is swim training, this would enable us to keep on top of everything

Minnibix · 09/09/2017 19:41

My laptop is like a life line, I love to Skype all my family and friend, (especially my sister - we talk for ages), its great to keep in touch but my old laptop is struggling so a new one would be brilliant, fingers crossed xxx

Spices001 · 09/09/2017 19:43

Just started secondary so we need a laptop for homework, projects. I'd store my many photos

dragon60 · 09/09/2017 19:49

Jonah who is 6 is interested in how computer games work, he'd like to have a go at writing his own game

sarah861421 · 09/09/2017 20:04

I would love a new laptop, when my son is home he is forever "fixing " and updating it but he is at Uni now ( studying computer science ), and says that its days are numbered,

wjanice121 · 09/09/2017 20:12

My son is into gaming and therefore any PC/laptop we buy must have a good graphics card.

honeyandginger48 · 09/09/2017 20:16

I've got one child starting sixth form and another going away to uni so a new laptop would be ideal!

FlopIsMyParentingGuru · 09/09/2017 20:19

DS(9) would be able to do his homework on it and DD(4) is fascinated by computers would be able to have a go at drawing on it which is all she wants to do but keeps missing the chance at school.

emzlovesyou · 09/09/2017 20:23

My Husbands apple laptop has been under the sofa for over a year!! It crashed and he could never load it back up again! it was over £1000! He says that it was the worst laptop he ever had! and doesn't have another one! It was used for work mainly.
