Watching a film can be a great way to spend time together as a family over the Great British summer, and Sky Cinema would like to hear about the family films you’re looking forward to watching or would recommend.

Here’s what Sky Cinema has to say: “With Sky Cinema, it’s easy to find something to watch this summer. We’ve got the biggest family blockbusters from 2016 available on demand, from The Secret Life of Pets and Jungle Book to Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find them”.

Take a look at the Ten biggest blockbusters from 2016 and all of the family films available with Sky Cinema. Let us know about the ones you’ve watched as a family (and what you thought) and sharing those that you’re looking forward to watching with your children and why.

So, whether your family summer film watching is on rainy days or during a relaxing evening in, share your favourites and those you’re looking forward to below to be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 John Lewis voucher.

Thanks and good luck!

janeyf1 · 05/08/2017 19:44

The one we all enjoyed was The Jungle Book - very well done

Ganne1 · 05/08/2017 19:48

I like French films, as they're more original than American films, but unfortunately there are few of those around these days in Britain

Ganne1 · 05/08/2017 19:51

I posted this, but it seemed to vanish.

I like French films, as they're more original than American films, but there are few of these around in Britain these days. And I prefer British humour to American, and, again, there aren't too many of those about.

Moana was a firm favourite in our house but like when I was a child all the Disney classics like Mary Poppins, Jungle Book, Bedknobs and Broomsticks are the ones that are watched the most alongside the original (Willy Wonka) Charlie and the Chocolate Factory! :)

phillie1 · 05/08/2017 19:58

Fantastic beasts was just fab - amazing how they do all the effects

SSCRASE123 · 05/08/2017 20:03

We all watched Finding Dory on a flight to Thailand earlier in the year. Was brilliant and got the kids all relaxed ready for a sleep.

smallchair · 05/08/2017 20:04

We watched ET when it was on TV at Christmas and I was surprised to find my kids (3&5) really loved it. I thought they'd be too young but they ask to watch it every couple of months. Because it's quite long, we tend to get a few snacks and blankets and make an afternoon of it. They also really love Mrs Doubtfire.

Marg2k8 · 05/08/2017 20:08

Fantastic Beasts and where to Find them is my best film of this year.

glenka · 05/08/2017 20:10

Lego batman is the favourite in our house

thesockgap · 05/08/2017 20:12

I've seen seven of the top ten....

Rogue One I thought was great, but apparently I mustn't have understood it at all as I only found out about a month later that "everyone died at the end" ha ha! Shows how much I concentrate!

Fantastic Beasts we all loved - including my 17 year old son who's watched it 3 times! I especially loved the character of Jacob Kowalski so I hope he's in the next one!

My 10 year old loved Finding Dory, and so to be honest did we all. My 17 year old had been Finding Nemo mad when he was 3 so we had a bit of a soft spot for the older characters like Dory and Mr Ray etc. A great feel good funny movie!

Deadpool - wow my favourite film of the year! Absolutely hilarious but definitely NOT one for the kids. It's a 15 for a reason. My middle child is 13.5 and has just been (grudgingly) allowed to watch it but the 10 year old definitely will not be seeing it for some time yet! but I have watched it multiple times, and it is still just as funny!

Captain America Civil War was pretty good but not my favourite of the Marvel franchise. My boys enjoyed it though and so did the husband.

Batman V Superman I found a bit of a let down. I was expecting a lot more from it but it was a bit... meh.

And, Suicide Squad, I just didn't like at all. Couldn't get into it.

danigrace · 05/08/2017 20:18

Our favourites are How To Train Your Dragon, we love 2 even more than the first - lots of lovely messages and very adventurous!
Looking forward to seeing Cars 3

andywedge · 05/08/2017 20:22

The Jungle Book - we all loved it

AngelwingsPetlamb · 05/08/2017 20:26

We absolutely love film night in our house and have one at least once a week. We all take turns in choosing the film, so it evens out for boy films and girls films, funny films and more serious like Star Wars. We love thing the blockbusters but also some of the older films too and we usually all change into our comfies and get some drinks and popcorn on hand before the film starts. I think it's a great family bonding time, especially if it's a funny film that makes us all laugh.

haspinall · 05/08/2017 20:30

My favourite family film is the new version of the Jungle Book. Have very fond memories of watching the original so found watching this very nostalgic and quite emotional! Thought the actors who voiced the characters were chosen perfectly - especially Christopher Walken for King Louie. The visual effects were amazing, it was happy, sad, funny, scary - everything rolled into one.
Perfect film!

AngelwingsPetlamb · 05/08/2017 20:31

We have watched and enjoyed Rogue One, Dead Pool, Jimmy Neutron, Turner and Hooch ( too much slobber! ), Annie - we love to sing along to this one, Ice Age (all of them) brilliant fun and Pirates of the Caribbean, all of them too.

moosexxx · 05/08/2017 20:36

We watched Jungle Book in the cinema, and we all enjoyed it.
The kids enjoyed The secret life of pets in the cinema, but i missed that one unfortunately.
As a family we enjoy all the Aardman films, and the Lego films.

theresamustgo · 05/08/2017 20:42

The Emoji Movie. Critics hated it, we all thought it was fun and savvy. Animation all the way here, lots of Studio Ghibli reruns on DVD.

allsorts4444 · 05/08/2017 20:49

We've watched:
Bridget Jones' Baby - amazing!
Jungle Book - Very good
Finding Dory - Very good
Deadpool - Amazing!

Lfoulds0209 · 05/08/2017 20:49

purplemanholecover · 05/08/2017 20:49

southernsun · 05/08/2017 21:08
