Watching a film can be a great way to spend time together as a family over the Great British summer, and Sky Cinema would like to hear about the family films you’re looking forward to watching or would recommend.

Here’s what Sky Cinema has to say: “With Sky Cinema, it’s easy to find something to watch this summer. We’ve got the biggest family blockbusters from 2016 available on demand, from The Secret Life of Pets and Jungle Book to Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find them”.

Take a look at the Ten biggest blockbusters from 2016 and all of the family films available with Sky Cinema. Let us know about the ones you’ve watched as a family (and what you thought) and sharing those that you’re looking forward to watching with your children and why.

So, whether your family summer film watching is on rainy days or during a relaxing evening in, share your favourites and those you’re looking forward to below to be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 John Lewis voucher.

Thanks and good luck!

Our go to family films are always either the toy story ones, or finding nemo/dory. I've lost count of how many times we have watched them all now!!

DiWoo · 12/08/2017 21:58

We were looking most nights last week to watch a film on Sky but found it quite hard, none of us are into Star Wars, Harry Potter or super heroes, we like films such as Hunger Games and Fault in Our Stars. We settled on Secret Life of Pets which started off well but the underground search was a bit boring. Bridget Jones is a great girly film, I took my daughter and her friends to see it . There don't seem to be (m)any films aimed at families with younger teenagers at the moment which is a shame as they're the hardest to find something they'd like to do with their parents (apparently all her friends are watching Love Island and I'm a meanie for not letting her!)

My 5 year old loved Secret life of pets. It was lovely to hear him laugh along with the film. A special moment when you realise your child has a great sense of humour!

GeorgeW78 · 12/08/2017 23:57

We love Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, fantastic acting, great story and it's beautifully filmed.

frenchfancy17 · 13/08/2017 08:24

Oooh loads! Secret life of pets is hilarious and the DC love anything with lego in is so LEGO Batman is a win win!
Boss baby is our next watch I think.

The only film on the 'Top 10' which we haven't watched is 'Bridget Jones's Baby'... although my Mum loved it when she saw it and won't stop suggesting it to us!

My daughter's an adult now, my son's almost 13, but we still like to pile onto the sofa with at least one dog and/or cats on a Friday night to watch films together with bowls of popcorn. It's very much a tradition in our household, and one which has been going on ever since my 21 year old was old enough to sit still for long enough to absorb a film (it must have triggered something inside of her, because she's doing a film based degree at the moment...)! My son also likes to discuss what we've watched afterwards, and I think that's helpful to keep us bonded as a family with individual opinons.

Both of my children (and I) are huge 'Disney' and 'Marvel' fans, and 'The Jungle Book', 'Moana' and 'Civil War' are huge favourites here. 'Fantastic Beasts...' was a lovely surprise for me, too, as I hated the 'Harry Potter' franchise entirely, but loved this one!

The Harry Potter films seem to be a firm favourite in our house at the minute. We have used buy and keep and they are watched over and over again!

The new Beauty and the beast is also a firm fave and even managed to get the husband to the cinema to watch it!

Despicable Me
Guardians of the Galaxy
Doctor Strange
and any of the other Marvel films that happen to be on :)

goneblogging · 13/08/2017 18:36

We're looking forward to watching Moana after hearing everyone rave about it. My son loves the Lion King too, so we watch that almost every week!

MrsFig · 13/08/2017 21:02

It's all about The Lego Movie here - everything is awesome!!

buckley1983 · 13/08/2017 21:13

My LO absolutely loves Moana, so that's been a winner on a rainy afternoon! We have all ended up enjoying it - especially the soundtrack!
Other favourites are Monsters University & Finding Nemo &.. for something a little darker - Nightmare Before Christmas. I love that LO enjoys this as I used to love it too, so we snuggle up & watch it together! I know it's hardly the season, but it's still ace!

FlopIsMyParentingGuru · 13/08/2017 21:28

Loved Bridget Jones' Baby. Went with a group of friends and laughed so much I cried.
At least one member of our family is looking forward to the ninjago movie. I am resigned to the fact I'll be watching it!
Kids loved the Secret Life of Pets but I didn't think it was great. Still bought me some peace and quiet!

firawla · 13/08/2017 22:03

We've got storks lined up for our next movie night, probably this week. Missed that when it came to cinema So looking forward to that one! The kids also want to rewatch moana. I think live action jungle book will definitely be worth a revwatch too!

clarabella12 · 13/08/2017 22:45

we love watching trolls and moana.

KittyKat88 · 13/08/2017 23:10

My girls are huge Moana fans - we saw it in the cinema so you can imagine they were super excited when it was in the August releases via on NowTV Sky Movies! Yep, we've watched it 3 times already so far!

ncullinane · 14/08/2017 09:40

We are loving Moana, and some old faves, Toy Story, Frozen and we have Fantastic Beasts ready to watch too.

CryingMessFFS · 14/08/2017 10:56

My kids are obsessed with Minions!

zippyants · 14/08/2017 13:28

It has to be the Goonies - need I say more!

Josephinelavelle · 14/08/2017 15:15

Loved, loved, loved the jungle book.
Watched Bridget Jones for old times sake, but it wasn't as good as the others. Not got round to watching Secret Life of Pets yet, but it looks good.

gemmie797 · 14/08/2017 21:36

Fantastic Beasts was a real favourite for our family. My son's are massive Harry Potter fans and I just loved this film too. I've watched it several times

chibsortig · 14/08/2017 22:19

Secret life of pets, Storks and Boss baby seem to be on a loop for my toddlers.
My 3 soon to be 4 year old wants to meet the stork that brought him no amount of me explaining that he came out of mummys tummy and she has the scar to prove it will convince him that he wasnt brought by the storks Grin
My 2 year old just wants to feel all the doggies.

Bacere · 14/08/2017 22:41

Film night is the one time when DH will often try to join us in front of "the box". Light weight escapism is a favourite so Fantastic Beasts was a recent favourite but Bridget Jones Baby was great silliness and the music/songs were fun and uplifting.

worriedmum46 · 15/08/2017 00:02

My daughter found Pollyanna on DVD at grandmas house and loved it. She bought it home and it's her new favourite.

RobertsCrew · 15/08/2017 01:05

We love anything with a good laugh in it. My eldest daughter which would you believe is 18 loves watching the classics or new Disney films which often gets moaned at by my twins but they all come round in the end and we end up watching a kids film. Guess it keeps us all young!
