The summer holidays are finally here and many parents are soon to find out where their DCs may be heading off to university. For teenagers and parents alike, this can be very daunting time. However, it’s also a time some parents may have secretly longed for…freedom is on the horizon!

Endsleigh, a UK provider of student insurance, wants to hear from you as parents about what you’ll be enjoying again, and what plans you’ve made once your DDs and DSs fly the nest.

Here’s what Endsleigh had to say: “Leaving for university doesn’t only affect students, but their parents too. We pride ourselves on understanding students’ needs as they prepare for university, and throughout their university careers. With over 50 years’ experience, Endsleigh is the No. 1 student insurance provider and the only one recommended by NUS.

Our cover protects gadgets, watches, contents, bikes, musical instruments and even tuition fees (if the student has to withdraw due to unforeseen circumstances) under one policy—giving students the flexibility to protect the things that matter to them (and you) the most. Endsleigh gives you peace of mind.”

Planning on seeing the world, or moving abroad? Ready to give up washing the sports kit? Converting newly-vacated bedrooms into an office? Or perhaps you just can’t wait to have full control of the tv again!

Whatever you are planning/longing to do when your DCs move into the big wide world of university life, share it on the thread below and you’ll be entered into a prize draw with a chance of winning a £300 voucher of your choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck

Although I couldn't wait to get to uni, my 3 all seem quite keen on staying at home! But should I manage to get them all to go (eldest would be in 2 years, youngest in 5) I would be most looking forward to a cleaner, tidier house and to take a bit more time for myself. And a few weekends away wouldn't go amiss either!

toddhopper · 09/08/2017 17:32

Reduction in bills & watching what I want on the tv!

ErinSophia · 09/08/2017 18:22

The thing I'm most looking forward to about my daughter Ava going to uni is seeing her working towards getting her dream job and being able to support and encourage her, I know she'll be successful when the time comes 😊

daisybeebee · 09/08/2017 19:23

I'm looking forward to the house being tidier and electricity/water bills going down without constant use of shower and hair/music appliances. I'm also looking forward to listening to my own music rather than complaining about Grime music being constantly blasted out. I'm also looking forward to my daughter finding her own feet, following her dreams and taking the first big steps into adulthood.

Enjoying some peace and quiet at home but I know I will miss them a lot. Looking forward to seeing them start to make their way in life.

badgermum · 09/08/2017 19:50

Our grocery shopping bills drops drastically and the cupboards seem to stay full of food

Ren1974 · 09/08/2017 20:10

They are not going! They are my best buddies so I am keeping them at home forever! Either that or I will enrol too :)

queenoftheschoolrun · 09/08/2017 21:33

It's a while off yet but I'm planning on getting a puppy!

WowOoo · 09/08/2017 21:58

I'm looking forward to being able to choose what I eat rather eating what the kids fancy.

I'm also looking forward to buying a 6 pack of Hula Hoops and there actually being a pack left when I go to get one the next day.

boptanana · 09/08/2017 22:57

I am going to miss them loads but it's too far in to the future to worry about at the moment. I won't miss the washing and mess!

justanotherdowntroddenmass · 09/08/2017 23:22

Still being alive

humblesims · 10/08/2017 10:38

I'm looking forward to seeing DS blossom and inhabit his adult self fully. That and extending my art studio into his bedroom.

Babycarmen · 10/08/2017 20:37

I just can't wait to have the peace and quiet to be honest! Not having to nag them about laundry, food, mess... bring it on :)

CMOTDibbler · 10/08/2017 21:32

My ds is only 11, but I'm looking forward to someone else having to answer all his random questions about stuff

Teaandadunk · 11/08/2017 09:55

No more bacteria growing in the bottom of the glasses that haven't made it from the bedroom to the kitchen.

PorridgeAgainAbney · 11/08/2017 16:51

It's a long way away yet but I reckon by the time it happens I'll enjoy not being asked the same questions 3 million times each day; getting to lick the spoon after making a cake; getting to actually eat the cake; in fact, getting to eat anything I want without it having been got at first Grin.

ha2el · 11/08/2017 17:11

I'm looking forward to being a mentor when needed. But also I'm looking forward to taking a step back from being responsible for the day to day living of a young adult and to what they can bring to my life once they take on their own responsibilities.

Motherofterriers · 11/08/2017 18:01

I'm looking forward to less washing and tidying up!
But I'll miss them, the house is very quiet without them

defineme · 11/08/2017 19:29

The house staying clean for 5 minutes is something I am looking forward to! Not arranging babysitters too. However, I will miss them and won't be encouraging them to leave any time soon.

Minerbird · 11/08/2017 19:46

I am most looking forward to going to visit with my friend, and getting to relive my youth by living in halls for a weekend! Her campus has 9 bars and a nightclub so bring it on!

Sleepysausage · 11/08/2017 19:55

I'm looking forward to dd experiencing uni. We both had such fun at uni and made our best friends there, so really hoping she has as much fun as us. I'm looking forward to watching her have the space to become her own person and explore the world on her own terms

Mumslet · 11/08/2017 20:57

Space, peace, quiet, absence of damage, spills and clutter. And looking forward to their return ASAP!

Beeziekn33ze · 11/08/2017 21:20

Taking DC out for a meal when I visit, seeing the college, meeting some of DC's new friends. All this is what DC anticipates too, I shan't be moving in on DC uninvited!
Taking homemade cake for DC to share with new friends!

sosotalk · 12/08/2017 04:04

I'm looking forward to sending them little self care packages in the post without telling them

JJJWWW · 12/08/2017 21:03

Hearing about all their adventures
