The summer holidays are finally here and many parents are soon to find out where their DCs may be heading off to university. For teenagers and parents alike, this can be very daunting time. However, it’s also a time some parents may have secretly longed for…freedom is on the horizon!

Endsleigh, a UK provider of student insurance, wants to hear from you as parents about what you’ll be enjoying again, and what plans you’ve made once your DDs and DSs fly the nest.

Here’s what Endsleigh had to say: “Leaving for university doesn’t only affect students, but their parents too. We pride ourselves on understanding students’ needs as they prepare for university, and throughout their university careers. With over 50 years’ experience, Endsleigh is the No. 1 student insurance provider and the only one recommended by NUS.

Our cover protects gadgets, watches, contents, bikes, musical instruments and even tuition fees (if the student has to withdraw due to unforeseen circumstances) under one policy—giving students the flexibility to protect the things that matter to them (and you) the most. Endsleigh gives you peace of mind.”

Planning on seeing the world, or moving abroad? Ready to give up washing the sports kit? Converting newly-vacated bedrooms into an office? Or perhaps you just can’t wait to have full control of the tv again!

Whatever you are planning/longing to do when your DCs move into the big wide world of university life, share it on the thread below and you’ll be entered into a prize draw with a chance of winning a £300 voucher of your choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck

I have 3 boys so not having to clean the toilet and floor every time someone goes will be high on the list

lhlee62 · 03/08/2017 23:24

I've got a long wait yet, but I hope they go and do something useful! I'm looking forward to being near retirement and having some space to myself. I'm also looking forward to not having to pay for school holiday time holidays as they are a right rip off!

sbruin1122 · 03/08/2017 23:30

Peace and quiet!

BelligerentGardenPixies · 03/08/2017 23:35

I'm looking forward to when going to the loo will not be a game of "Floor and Toilet Bowl Jeopardy", not finding squirreled away apple cores and crisp packets down the side of the sofa and not having to catering for an army of hollow legged gannets.

I'll miss the fun and the giggles though.

del2929 · 03/08/2017 23:43

looking forward to seeing them graduate!

hotcrossbun99 · 04/08/2017 00:07

I'm looking forward to hearing about their great adventures and watching them make their way in the world. Looking forward to seeing the amazing places they will travel to whilst trying not to show how envious I am! Smile

Natsai1 · 04/08/2017 03:45

Freedom to sleep as long as I like, not worrying about what they may want to eat for dinner and being vocal as loud as I like during sex!

Natsai1 · 04/08/2017 03:46

I hear you. Same here's

hannahbjm · 04/08/2017 08:35

Mine is a little while off but i am looking forward to him coming home and cooking for me with all his new found skills ( wishful thinking ) haha. I will definitely enjoy less laundry and more glasses mugs and general crockery i will find in his bedroom haha.

beckyinman · 04/08/2017 09:12

The food bill going down by about 75%!!

shewhomustbeEbayed · 04/08/2017 09:53

I'm looking forward to my DD confidently making her way in the world, we are planning on it coinciding with us reducing our hours ( I wouldn't want to stop work as I love my job as an Admiral Nurse ) but we'd like a better work/life balance. We'd like to move to near the sea and get dogs we can walk every day.

My eldest of 5 DC will soon be going off to Uni and I'm excited to see her move on to the next stage of her independence. She's got a real lust for life and I think she's going to have lots of adventures. She's blazing the trail for the other 4 DC so I'm hoping her experience will have a positive influence on them.

twinklenic · 04/08/2017 10:29

My middle child is hoping to go to uni next year, she has been on their tallen spotting course this year at leeds uni and she is really enjoying it. The thing ill enjoy the most once shes gone is not being her personal taxi lol but to be honest ill miss her more than anything else

NauticalDisaster · 04/08/2017 10:36

I think I'll enjoy the tidy house!

mrsRosaPimento · 04/08/2017 11:57

I'm looking forward to them making their way in the world. I will miss them so much, but they need to fulfill their dreams. I was held back and forced into a degree for a job that didn't suit me, so my parents could boast about it. I'm excited about them choosing their own life and career.
I joke I'm going to turn their rooms into craft rooms. I won't, they'll have their rooms at home until they are in their own houses. Although ds2 said he was never going to leave home when he was little.

Cambam2010 · 04/08/2017 12:18

I'm looking forward to seeing my DS manage just fine by himself - I know that I have raised him well and he has all the life skills he needs to be independant.

Downsizing to a little one bed place by the sea.

goingmadinthecountry · 04/08/2017 15:33

Two are already there - going to visit them (not too often!) and explore new places is great. Don't know how I'll feel when youngest heads off too though.

Headfullofdreams · 04/08/2017 16:27

All the adventures that they will experience. Will break my heart a bit too though.

helly27 · 04/08/2017 16:59

Am most looking forward to hearing who his life is progressing and the decisions he makes solely on his own

UpOnDown · 04/08/2017 18:05

turning the bedroom into a study/craft room.

Marg2k8 · 04/08/2017 18:09

My son is already at uni and I am pleased he is enjoying it. I do enjoy having time to myself, but look forward to seeing him from time to time.

georgedawes · 04/08/2017 18:41

I'm looking forward to it for them, the start of a new chapter and adventure in their lives!
