The summer holidays are finally here and many parents are soon to find out where their DCs may be heading off to university. For teenagers and parents alike, this can be very daunting time. However, it’s also a time some parents may have secretly longed for…freedom is on the horizon!

Endsleigh, a UK provider of student insurance, wants to hear from you as parents about what you’ll be enjoying again, and what plans you’ve made once your DDs and DSs fly the nest.

Here’s what Endsleigh had to say: “Leaving for university doesn’t only affect students, but their parents too. We pride ourselves on understanding students’ needs as they prepare for university, and throughout their university careers. With over 50 years’ experience, Endsleigh is the No. 1 student insurance provider and the only one recommended by NUS.

Our cover protects gadgets, watches, contents, bikes, musical instruments and even tuition fees (if the student has to withdraw due to unforeseen circumstances) under one policy—giving students the flexibility to protect the things that matter to them (and you) the most. Endsleigh gives you peace of mind.”

Planning on seeing the world, or moving abroad? Ready to give up washing the sports kit? Converting newly-vacated bedrooms into an office? Or perhaps you just can’t wait to have full control of the tv again!

Whatever you are planning/longing to do when your DCs move into the big wide world of university life, share it on the thread below and you’ll be entered into a prize draw with a chance of winning a £300 voucher of your choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck

Reduction in my shopping bill......looking in the fridge and still seeing that what I bought is still there. Less time standing at the ironing board. Clearing up the kitchen after he has cooked himself something!

Space! I want DD's bedroom for my sewing room!

But realistically it won't happen, we live in London so I reckon mine will either go local and not move out or will bounce back.

angiehoggett · 03/08/2017 07:42

It's a long way off but I do hope they study locally if only to save money! If not then I think it would be an ideal time to relax and have fun with my partner.

Spencer1234 · 03/08/2017 07:49

The peace and quiet!

glenka · 03/08/2017 07:52

I'm looking forward to not having to be a taxi service for them.

TracyKNixon · 03/08/2017 08:15

I am looking forward to writing to them - hand written letter and post cards. Send one a week is what I plan to do!

SSCRASE123 · 03/08/2017 08:25

sammylea80 · 03/08/2017 08:34

Watching them find their independence and grow into what ever they decide they want to be!

frances93 · 03/08/2017 08:40

Definitely looking forward to less laundry and mess to clean up after, I can't wait to give the house a well deserved face lift

woodhill · 03/08/2017 08:55

Giving ds all the crockery and pans that he was meant to take last year but was catered and being able to clear out all the kitchen clutter that the other eds have left

AR2012 · 03/08/2017 09:03

looking forward to some more time with the other half.

Narnianescape · 03/08/2017 09:08

I'm looking forward to seeing them grow and become more independent.

southernsun · 03/08/2017 09:24

Having somewhere to visit and make a weekend of seeing them. Also as weird as it sounds, it will make us appreciate them more if we miss them.

Ganne1 · 03/08/2017 09:30

The benefits of being on our own a lot more is outweighed by missing them! At least we can give them real support when they need it.

liamell · 03/08/2017 09:37

Less washing, less hoovering, more nookie :D

janeyf1 · 03/08/2017 09:37

I am not sure if she will go to Uni but if she does I hope she chooses one close to home. I wouldn't look forward to hear leaving home and partying but would be proud of anything academic she does and achieves

hiddenmichelle · 03/08/2017 09:44

Not cleaning their rooms and finding food/crips packets everywhere!

samcornfield · 03/08/2017 09:51

I am looking forward to not being a taxi service. Will miss her lots though, as will her siblings.

sandy31 · 03/08/2017 10:05
