Fairy Non Bio is sponsoring the Mumsnet Talk App, and would like you to talk about the pre-birth rituals you had (or have!) with the impending arrival of your little one. Did you wash all of the tiny new baby clothes you’d bought, then carefully fold and hang them? Maybe you manically cleaned the house in preparation or over-eagerly try and toddler proof the house? Perhaps you bulk-made meals so that you could relax once your baby arrived?

Here’s what Fairy Non Bio have to say: “Fairy Non Bio is good for anyone who wants a softer, more sensitive wash (that still leaves clothes clean!). Its gentle formula promises to be kind to both your clothes, and to yours and your new baby’s skin”

So, alongside the Fairy Non Bio sponsorship of the Mumsnet Talk App, they’d like you to talk about the pre-birth rituals you’ve had. If you avidly check out Mumsnet's talk boards, you should download the app for yourself. It's free, and allows you to be part of the conversation wherever you are!

All those who post below will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 Love2Shop voucher.

Thanks and good luck with the prize draw!

I had to have a c-section so had to get organised.
Washed all the clothes that we'd bought.
Got my hair cut really (much too) short in case I didn't get a chance for months.
Cooked loads of meals for the freezer - about 4 weeks' worth of casseroles and curries with loads of veg included so we didn't even have to chop veg to go with them. I even cooked and froze batches of flapjacks so I'd have nice snacks. Grin

I danced every day to the music I planned to labour to. I also had a massage every week. Never washed the newborn stuff though I did get it out and look at it every day.

KavvLar · 01/02/2017 21:51

Brought in a bag of potatoes to both deliveries. First time was a mistaken grab of a shopping bag on the way to the hospital. Second time we thought we might jinx it if we didn't have some. It has become an odd tradition.

KavvLar · 01/02/2017 21:52

Bet that's not in anyone's birth plan!

like7 · 01/02/2017 23:31

Gosh, I don't think I did as much as most people. I did get the nursery all ready and a lovely new carpet put down. I enjoyed buying the clothes and equipment and also remembering getting my husband to take a photo of me in a bikini with my huge tummy so I could remember it later on - just how big it was!!

andymorris · 02/02/2017 00:34

i just get lots of hot water and towels...it works on tv programmes

ann28 · 02/02/2017 12:15

Nesting - everything was absolutely spotlessly clean!

WowOoo · 02/02/2017 13:10

I think my ritual was cleaning like a madwoman. Our house had never been so clean and organised. I also did a fair bit of painting and decorating on the weekends when I was around 4 months pregnant as I knew it wouldn't be done at any other time.

likeacrow · 02/02/2017 16:45

Mummychoochoo3 Why would you not be able to see your feet until after you give birth.? Surely you can still move your legs...?

welshmardymum · 02/02/2017 17:06

I made loads of meals for the freezer ready for when I came back home again and I also bought some cheap nested tables (!!!) from the charity shop so when I was just sat in a chair feeding and not moving I could surround myself with all I needed - books, remotes, hand cream, nipple cream!!!!!!!

ha2el · 02/02/2017 17:39

The only thing that I can remember is that I wanted to stay close to home.

misshoohaa · 02/02/2017 20:34

Meal prepping! Baby number 3 is due in 2 weeks and I feel the need to fill the freezer with easy peasy meals that I can pop in the oven easily.... I just need to get organised and do it. Sunday bake off here i come!

Hopezibah · 02/02/2017 20:44

I totally had the nesting instinct despite thinking it was a load of rubbish before then. I suddenly had the urge to do a very deep clean of baby's room whilst heavily pregnant - washing windows, curtains, all bedding and even new clothing got washed in preparation.

I also had a thing about being up-to-date with my ironing so was constantly ironing.

LillyBugg · 02/02/2017 20:47

I removed all the fridge magnets and cleaned down the whole fridge whilst actually contracting. It seemed really important at the time and like a good use of my time! A few days before I scrubbed the kitchen floor, including steaming all of the grout between the tiles. Haven't done it since. Most odd.

MrsFrTedCrilly · 02/02/2017 21:20

I washed, ironed and sorted all the baby clothes and then went for that final walk where I lived alone because I was very aware that my alone time was going to be infrequent....

mum25littleones · 03/02/2017 09:59

I cleaned everything in sight! I mean on the floor with a toothbrush and bleach lol. Washed all the baby clothes and hung them up ready to use then gave myself a pedicure and shave...I knew I wouldn't care less if I was hairy or unpolished by the time I was on the table but it made me feel a little more prepared for what was ahead!

Mum2Clementine · 03/02/2017 13:25

Hey sweetie,
When I was pregnant with my 3rd born Joshua, I would often bathe in goats blood upon recommendation from a local homeopathic healer in my area. The procedure, whilst absolutely bizzare and unpleasant at first, quickly became enjoyable and even theraputic, and I managed to entirely clear my mind from all stress during the baths.
My baby came out healthy (and even gets better grades at school than the other two, shh!) and the birth was unbelievably painless.
I genuinely believe this process had something to do with the ease of labour, as my other experiences were incredibly painful and I had to undergo serious pain killers,
Hope I could help, message me for any details babe,
Millicent

ThenBellaDidSomethingVeryKind · 03/02/2017 13:33

Definitely washing all the baby clothes! Batch cooking and freezing hundreds of meals. Getting my hair done so I didn't need to think about root regrowth with a newborn!

Lariflete · 03/02/2017 14:02

I batch-cooked soooo many meals with DC1, so that we wouldn't have to cook. Although, DH then didn't like most of them!

RedheadinCamelFlarge · 03/02/2017 18:33

At 38w with my first, I ripped out a kitchen cupboard... I also spent an afternoon batch cooking and springing around to 90s dance music!

user546 · 03/02/2017 19:19

I washed everything I had (there was a lot!!) even bedding and coats and snow suits and blankets, I still wash everything knew now I must have pulled it all out about 6 times to fold and hang it all up again, and I still do that now! Grin

StickChildNumberTwo · 03/02/2017 20:14

I had a list of 'nice to get done but world won't end if they're not' jobs to keep me going while on maternity leave waiting for the baby to arrive, to make sure I had things to occupy me and stop me just getting grumpy because the baby was so late.

Boobiebalfie · 03/02/2017 22:47

I am currenly pregnant with my fourth.
For each one I have washed all new baby grows and vests, blankets Abd sheets.counted them all to make sure I have enough ,only to decide a few weeks before I am due that they were washed to soon and now need a freshen up.
Hoping to learn from past experience this time(but I doubt it)

GrumpyOldTroll · 03/02/2017 22:50

I washed everything before I put my babies in anything.
That's about it though!

Chelsea26 · 04/02/2017 08:04

I had terrible spd so I pretty much lay on the sofa for a month before DS1 was born. Caught up on all my TV though which was good because I haven't had a chance since!
