Fairy Non Bio is sponsoring the Mumsnet Talk App, and would like you to talk about the pre-birth rituals you had (or have!) with the impending arrival of your little one. Did you wash all of the tiny new baby clothes you’d bought, then carefully fold and hang them? Maybe you manically cleaned the house in preparation or over-eagerly try and toddler proof the house? Perhaps you bulk-made meals so that you could relax once your baby arrived?

Here’s what Fairy Non Bio have to say: “Fairy Non Bio is good for anyone who wants a softer, more sensitive wash (that still leaves clothes clean!). Its gentle formula promises to be kind to both your clothes, and to yours and your new baby’s skin”

So, alongside the Fairy Non Bio sponsorship of the Mumsnet Talk App, they’d like you to talk about the pre-birth rituals you’ve had. If you avidly check out Mumsnet's talk boards, you should download the app for yourself. It's free, and allows you to be part of the conversation wherever you are!

All those who post below will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 Love2Shop voucher.

Thanks and good luck with the prize draw!

I always made sure i had my overnight bag packed and ready

BeeMyBaby · 29/01/2017 14:11

I washed all the clothes but didn't put them in drawers as I prefer to wait for baby to come home safe from the hospital before doing anything more.

muppet1501 · 29/01/2017 14:18

Hospital bag was alwas packed when i was 32 weeks. I like to be prepared just in case. I washed all the babygrows, vests etc. None of mine were early. 2 on due date, 1 a week late and 1, 2 weeks late. Still i do like to be prepared hahaha

JJJWWW · 29/01/2017 15:22

blondie123c · 29/01/2017 15:35

just what ever needs to be done

stewaris · 29/01/2017 17:13

I didn't really have a ritual. Although I did wash all the new baby clothes I bought. My mother said it was to make sure all the 'batter' was out of them - whatever that was!

Ashhead24 · 29/01/2017 17:53

Gave the bathroom a really deep clean, scrubbed all the nooks and crannies behind the toilet.

Catmadroo · 29/01/2017 17:53

I didn't have any rituals and defiently didnt wash baby clothes. I did bulk buy freezer food and veg as I lnew I wouldnt have time to cook!

Cailin7 · 29/01/2017 19:21

Got my hair done, wax and manicure as figured I would never have time in coming months. we were all organised with all the blankets and newborn clothing washed and in place. However none of the clothes fitted as DC was over 10 lbs and had to send hubby and mum to shop to buy more.

Ninja12345 · 29/01/2017 19:52

Did lots of batch cooking (which we are still eating 10 months later!). Had a pedicure and massage. Went out for lots of lovely meals with DH and friends and went loads of cinema and comedy shows as I knew it would ages before I'd go again!

The smell of our home was making me feel sick constantly, I was gagging every time I walked in the front door, so I spent my pregnancy constantly cleaning to try to eradicate the foul smell, only to realise at the end of 9 months, that is was actually the smell of anything clean that turned my stomach, so I had just been making it worse

bugzie92 · 29/01/2017 20:17

Yes!! i moved into a new house a month before my son was born. I SCRUBBED it from inch to inch! All of his clothes were freshly washed and ironed (i dont know why i bothered ironing them all, went through them SO quickly!). I think i was definitely nesting!

mave · 29/01/2017 20:32

None really, I just went with the flow, washed the baby clothes and packed my bags ready!!

Pixie2015 · 29/01/2017 21:31

I hoped for lunches out and shopping instead I became housebound with pelvic pain and oedema - I wished the hours away till I would hold my baby dreaming of what he would look like, how he would be. Of course the daily grind of washing/drying went on especially as I wet myself every time I coughed, sneezed or laughed for the last two weeks.

Now the baby is here washing, feeding and sleeping x

Painting the nursery a new colour

sbruin1122 · 29/01/2017 22:35

didn't put down the chocolate!

ladymadonna1 · 29/01/2017 23:03

Washing, ironing and folding all the baby's new clothes; preparing and freezing dinners for those sleepless first few weeks; drinking raspberry leaf tea before bed every night; and... dare I say this on a public forum... performing perineal massage in the shower to prepare my body for birth.

0ryx · 29/01/2017 23:46

Fantasised about all the things I'd be able to eat and drink post-preg!

Dangermouse80 · 30/01/2017 06:20

Getting as much sleep, a pedicure and lining up some box sets to make myself stop and sit down in the evenings after the kids are in bed. Never washed any new baby clothes!!

Sat and had a meal after my waters broke, so that I woiuld have some energy for later, whilst hubby panicing saying we need to go to hospital

shydaylily · 30/01/2017 10:43

spending lots of time in the newly decorated baby room folding all the baby clothes.

strawberrisc · 30/01/2017 11:02

My pre-birth ritual was a very, very detailed birth plan. It took me months to produce. It included no health-professionals other than those absolutely necessary. Partner to cut the cord and be first to hold the baby. Epidural. Music. No episiotomy. Mum to be present. The list was very, very long.

Baby then decided to be born in under 2 hours and so literally not one single thing went to 'plan'! I found the birth plan 3 days into my 10 day stay in hospital and it really made me laugh. Which hurt!

southernsun · 30/01/2017 11:42

Everything was washed, ironed and cleaned weeks before due date.
