Fairy Non Bio is sponsoring the Mumsnet Talk App, and would like you to talk about the pre-birth rituals you had (or have!) with the impending arrival of your little one. Did you wash all of the tiny new baby clothes you’d bought, then carefully fold and hang them? Maybe you manically cleaned the house in preparation or over-eagerly try and toddler proof the house? Perhaps you bulk-made meals so that you could relax once your baby arrived?

Here’s what Fairy Non Bio have to say: “Fairy Non Bio is good for anyone who wants a softer, more sensitive wash (that still leaves clothes clean!). Its gentle formula promises to be kind to both your clothes, and to yours and your new baby’s skin”

So, alongside the Fairy Non Bio sponsorship of the Mumsnet Talk App, they’d like you to talk about the pre-birth rituals you’ve had. If you avidly check out Mumsnet's talk boards, you should download the app for yourself. It's free, and allows you to be part of the conversation wherever you are!

All those who post below will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 Love2Shop voucher.

Thanks and good luck with the prize draw!

I had a ritual of thinking: I really must decorate the nursery. It's still waiting and my DS is at school now!!!

gd2011 · 28/01/2017 16:43

A couple of stiff drinks and I'm all set.

MakeTeaNotWar · 28/01/2017 16:45

I washed everything that my new babies would wear. I also listened to positive affirmations to help in labour and they really did.

beckyinman · 28/01/2017 16:52

I properly nested, cleaned all everyone's clothes, the house top to bottom and cooked enough food for about 400 people. Our freezer still has tupperware meals stashed away in it!

footdust · 28/01/2017 16:55

Washing all the new baby clothes, blankets, bibs - in fact if it didn't move I washed it

maryandbuzz1 · 28/01/2017 17:02

I needed to make sure the house was spotless as the birth got nearer.
I packed and unpacked my hospital bag goodness knows how many times and made sure I had a tens machine.
I refused to buy any baby clothes until he arrived as the pregnancy had had a few ups and downs.

MrsDramaQueen · 28/01/2017 17:03

I washed and hung all my outfits in size order so that it was easier to find the right clothes. I also brought the first 6 months of clothes and nappies, as it spread the cost.

mooota1514 · 28/01/2017 17:46

Definitely cooking, filling the freezer with healthy homemade meals. However, exhausted and hormonal, not to mention eating around a baby, all I wanted was junk food and snacks!

janeyf1 · 28/01/2017 18:00

I got carried away buy new pieces for little one many weeks before birth - new clothes, soft furnishings and toys - I was buying something new every weekend

izbiz1988 · 28/01/2017 18:01

I definitely nested and wanted everything in the house to be clean and organised for when they arrived. Other than that I just tried to make sure that I had everything ready for them in terms of their room and clothes etc. As it turned out, you always have way more stuff than you actually need!

hiddenmichelle · 28/01/2017 18:09

kitchen cupboards - sorting and resorting!

allsorts4444 · 28/01/2017 18:11

I decorated the entire house whilst pregnant, cleaned everything and prepared all the things I would need. All baby clothes were washed, ironed and hung up in age order! I now have a 9 month old baby, all of his dirty clothes are in the pile on the floor of the bedroom waiting to be washed, all of his clean clothes are in a pile (non-ironed) waiting to be hung up but most of which will be used before they see the inside of the wardrobe! Haha how things change eh?

GruffaloPants · 28/01/2017 18:13

First time I did all the prepping of clothes. Second time was ripping labels off on the ward.

Did dye my hair and get my eyebrows done though.

Nanodust · 28/01/2017 18:18

Wih both births I went to a posh toilietries shop and bought lovely shower gel and other stuff for the post birth shower. Now whenever I smell l'occitane roses shower gel or Clarins shower gel I remember that lovely feeling of my girls arriving safely into the world.

Marg2k8 · 28/01/2017 18:19

I can't remember any pre-birth rituals. I just remember being very tired and sleeping a lot.

glennamy · 28/01/2017 18:22

We had everything ready and to hand a couple of weeks before arrival date, well nearly 3 weeks after due date and still no signs of wanting to join the world induced was the buzzword and that long wanted water birth was history... TBH whatever the situation and however you prepare just go with the flow and you will be fine! :)

carolacr · 28/01/2017 18:24

Nothing better than new born baby clothes being rinsed through before your little bundle of joy arrives. Love the smell.

foxessocks · 28/01/2017 18:24

I got all the clothes organised into sizes and folded neatly away in drawers before born babies. And tidied the whole house constantly so we'd come home to a clean and tidy place.

jacqui5366 · 28/01/2017 18:34

I bought packs of nappies and wipes every week until we had a months supply (or so I thought - we went through them in a little over 2 weeks), I stocked my freezer with packs of easy cook meals (fish finger sandwiches are the food of the gods !). I washed all the baby grows and vests in fairy non bio ready for the little one, and bought a few packs as I am aware just how many changes your little one needs. The smell of fairy non bio clothes is simply BABY SMELL X gorgeous x

NauticalDisaster · 28/01/2017 18:45

I had pedicures before each birth as well then got told off as I need up with EMCS both times!

What signaled my labour each time was the urge to stay constantly on the exercise ball, even when it was meal time. Within 24 hours of constant bouncing I went into labour but failed to progress.

helterskelter99 · 28/01/2017 18:51

I buried my head as deep as I could in the sand after multiple miscarriages we never believed we would bring home a baby so I did things that we would need if we we had a new baby or were grieving a loss. That basically meant I batch cooked and filled the freezer!!
(Everything was fine and the food was a bonus!)!

StillNoFuckingEyeDeer · 28/01/2017 19:37

No more children planned, but if I was having another one, I wouldn't make any reservations for anything exciting in the third trimester.

DD1 arrived earlier than expected and we had to miss a theatre trip.

DD2 arrived earlier than expected and we had to cancel our reservation at a local restaurant that it had taken us months to book due to a combination of lack of babysitter and the popularity of the restaurant.

DS arrived earlier than expected and we had to cancel a family lunch and a spa day I'd booked with my mum.

hdh747 · 28/01/2017 19:39

With my first I was out shopping, walking the dog and playing board games whilst in labour. But I got so grumpy about losing I threw the board in the air lol. With my second we took our son out to the park, then to see the Chirstmas lights, then tucked him into bed before calling the midwife - our daughter was born at home and kindly waited until her brother was fast asleep.

clarem100 · 28/01/2017 20:15

I washed everything. Cleaned all the floors. Behind all the furniture (first time ever!) And then waited!

sarah861421 · 28/01/2017 20:16

I cleaned. I cleaned like I had never cleaned before ( or since )
