Fairy Non Bio is sponsoring the Mumsnet Talk App, and would like you to talk about the pre-birth rituals you had (or have!) with the impending arrival of your little one. Did you wash all of the tiny new baby clothes you’d bought, then carefully fold and hang them? Maybe you manically cleaned the house in preparation or over-eagerly try and toddler proof the house? Perhaps you bulk-made meals so that you could relax once your baby arrived?

Here’s what Fairy Non Bio have to say: “Fairy Non Bio is good for anyone who wants a softer, more sensitive wash (that still leaves clothes clean!). Its gentle formula promises to be kind to both your clothes, and to yours and your new baby’s skin”

So, alongside the Fairy Non Bio sponsorship of the Mumsnet Talk App, they’d like you to talk about the pre-birth rituals you’ve had. If you avidly check out Mumsnet's talk boards, you should download the app for yourself. It's free, and allows you to be part of the conversation wherever you are!

All those who post below will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 Love2Shop voucher.

Thanks and good luck with the prize draw!

I was so ill I didn't have the time or inclination for pre-birth rituals. I was too busy vomiting. Didn't stop until the day after I'd given birth.

We had a moses basket, a car seat, pram, nappies and baby grows. Turns out we didn't really need anything else anyway.

hayleyjw29 · 30/01/2017 11:48

im due in 9 weeks..i keep thinking about sorting things out but am yet to do it!

Summerholidayblues · 30/01/2017 12:22

I cleared all food cupboards (the spice cupboard has never looked so tidy!), did numerous charity shop runs, developed an organised baby clothes storage system of multiple piles and went crazy with sterilising wipes!

mamof3boys · 30/01/2017 12:31

I washed and ironed all the baby clothes, got a leg and bikini wax Grin, had my hospital bag packed for ages.

ProfAnnieT · 30/01/2017 12:46

Went to the cinema in the daytime on my own! Enjoyed the calm before the storm...

daisymaebee · 30/01/2017 12:52

I went into nesting big style. I was days away from giving birth and I'm stood on chairs changing light bulbs and painting giraffes on the nursery walls lol. I cleaned the house from top to bottom and the amount of washing was amazing. I had all the curtains down in the entire house to wash them, a carpet cleaner in to clean the carpets and I even found myself struggling at 8 months preggers regrouting the bathroom tiles heehee

jandoc · 30/01/2017 13:54

to be honest I was all over the place and so I didn't really have any rituals

Gazelda · 30/01/2017 16:13

I washed everything.

I had a stab at 'nesting' (more because that was I thought I should be doing, rather than having the urge).

And I had chips from the chippy. Because I didn't think it would be acceptable to wheel a pram into the chippy when I 'should' be trying to lose baby Weight.

This was 8 years ago mind, now I don't give a stuff about what I should be doing.

LittleMoonbuggy · 30/01/2017 20:39

Cleaned the house from top to bottom, washed all the baby clothes and set up an organised storage system in the wardrobe for the different sizes.

Treated myself to a mani-pedi and eyebrow and lash tint.

bigwiggle · 30/01/2017 21:09

I lovingly pre-washed scores of washable nappies and proudly watched them drying on the line!

Maclairey · 30/01/2017 21:29

Hair cut and colour, shave all excess body hair, wash and dry all clothes up to 3 months, pack hospital bag, set up moses basket and crib, monitor, changing table.

MunchyMunchkin · 30/01/2017 22:30

Filled up the freezer with easy meals and tried to keep on top of the tidying. Most importantly I made sure there was plenty downloaded on the sky box to watch.

PickAChew · 30/01/2017 22:54

I was honestly too knackered to do anything for the sake of doing, before I had mine! I sat an OU exam a month or so before I had DS1 and had to take many loo breaks!

ItsNachoCheese · 30/01/2017 22:58

I made sure that i had a mix up of gummy sweets made up by my friend who works in the local paper shop that i would eat while in labour... nearly £4 of sweets later i ate 3 and kept the rest for when ds and i got home. They were much appreciated during night feeds

Work gave me a spa voucher as a gift when I left on maternity - so I treated myself to a pedicure - I was so confident my LO would be late (just like mummy!) - I booked in on my due date! The therapist looked a bit alarmed - but true to type, he arrived 10 days late. My feet felt amazing & even the midwife noticed the pampering! .. Maybe it's a common thing though & they say it to everyone! :)

NettleTea · 31/01/2017 13:54

I started doing yoga every day to help with my changing body shape and to assist in stretching my joints and ligaments in preparation for the actual birth. I really worked well, so was a bit silly not to do the same for my next one, which being 6 years later, I didnt and it made a huge difference

cookie09 · 31/01/2017 19:37

Funnily enough, as soon as i found out i was pregnant i started stocking up on nappies and baby wipes and luck has it, i'm glad i did as i was told i was having twins at my scan. I lived in the attic bedroom at my parents and i pulled my wardrobes out and had Mount nappy-manjaro behind there. I could have set up a shop Wink

raspberryblush23 · 31/01/2017 20:44

With DC 1 I scrubbed the house and gave myself a manicure and pedicure. With DC 2 I also cleaned obsessively but she came a week early so no time for grooming.

sweir1 · 31/01/2017 22:41

I went mental and cleaned everything. Then I had a homebirth and messed everything up again!

sarahbrokenshire · 01/02/2017 13:16

I went on a massive nesting spree!

pinkunicornsarefluffy · 01/02/2017 13:36

I washed all of the brand new baby clothes as advised by the midwife. We also stopped the cats from sleeping on our bed a few months before the baby was born.

goldenretriever1978 · 01/02/2017 15:55

Sorting out the lady garden! 😃

ChocolateChipMuffin2016 · 01/02/2017 16:00

I actually did as little as possible. I wanted to make the most of the time I had left as a non mother as I knew I'd never have a moment alone again, I'm glad I did as since my gorgeous baby boy has been born, 11 weeks ago, I have not had a moment to myself. I wouldn't change a thing but it was nice to have that bit of time to myself before he arrived.

FeelTheNoise · 01/02/2017 18:23

Washing all those tiny weeny gorgeous clothes 😍
Packing our hospital bags, including his nicest softest clothes and blankets, and a face pamper kit for me (ha ha)

KnottedAnchorChief · 01/02/2017 18:37

I taught myself to knit! I was HUUUGE with swollen legs by the end of being preg and couldn't move much. So as I'm normally very active and busy I just had to have something to do with my hands instead. I knitted baby clothes and hats and bizarrely a pair of leg warmers for me. I never have, nor ever will wear leg warmers.
