Fairy Non Bio is sponsoring the Mumsnet Talk App, and would like you to talk about the pre-birth rituals you had (or have!) with the impending arrival of your little one. Did you wash all of the tiny new baby clothes you’d bought, then carefully fold and hang them? Maybe you manically cleaned the house in preparation or over-eagerly try and toddler proof the house? Perhaps you bulk-made meals so that you could relax once your baby arrived?

Here’s what Fairy Non Bio have to say: “Fairy Non Bio is good for anyone who wants a softer, more sensitive wash (that still leaves clothes clean!). Its gentle formula promises to be kind to both your clothes, and to yours and your new baby’s skin”

So, alongside the Fairy Non Bio sponsorship of the Mumsnet Talk App, they’d like you to talk about the pre-birth rituals you’ve had. If you avidly check out Mumsnet's talk boards, you should download the app for yourself. It's free, and allows you to be part of the conversation wherever you are!

All those who post below will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 Love2Shop voucher.

Thanks and good luck with the prize draw!

I was told something about new cotton items leaving a residue and became so paranoid about washing everything, husband made sure my legs were shaved and toe nails were cut since I couldn't reach either....he also drew a smiley face on the bottom of my big to in marker pen, he said it would make the midwifes smile.....

Pillowaddict · 28/01/2017 20:49

Made lots of comfort food in the days before giving birth but also had her room perfect and just waiting for her - missed being able to do that with dd2!

emmmaaa26 · 28/01/2017 21:12

Spring cleaned the entire house and organised everything. I mean it all went to pot in a matter of days but hey-ho.

cluckyhen · 28/01/2017 21:32

All the baby clothes were laundered a month before and I insisted that downstairs was waxed as I hated the thought of strangers peeking at a mess.

Babydontcry · 28/01/2017 21:32

I washed all my little boys clothes and bedding before he was born, I also had a manicure whilst I was in labour (didn't realise-it was early on!) to make sure I was presentable for him!

stefalfie11 · 28/01/2017 22:16

Made lots of batch meals like curry and lasagne to put in the freezer to make it easier when baby arrived :)

pfcpompeysarah · 28/01/2017 22:19

I became obsessed with looking at and researching anything baby-related, I wanted to make sure I had made the right purchases in terms of cot/car seat/highchair.... I wish I could say I tidied/cleaned/prepared better but I am afraid I didn't do much on that front.

mancmummy40 · 28/01/2017 22:21

I had the babies clothes all washed and put in piles ordered by size and type, a basket of essentials ready in the lounge which included nappies and wipes and a dressed moses basket eagerly awaiting the new arrival.

My pre-birth ritual was rubbing my belly every night with cocoa butter (it's supposed to help with stretchmarks!) while singing to baba. It was relaxing for both of us and helped us get to sleep.

edwardcullensotherwoman · 28/01/2017 22:25

Strangely enough, and this is 100% true, I washed all of the newborn/0-3 clothes, blankets, sheets and baby towels and cuddly toys in Fairy powder and fabric conditioner! DH bought a bottle last week for the first time in ages and I was saying tonight how the smell of the washing reminded me of when the children were all born. I never tumble dried them on the first wash, so the whole house smelled of Fairy from the clothes drying on the radiators Smile

I colour-coded, scanned, stapled and filed all my birth notes and research on parenting that I'd been obsessively reading while ttc and when pregnant. It took up two huge folders which I kept in the living room and was able to refer to quickly when I had a question about anything.

twinklenicci · 28/01/2017 22:28

I loved washing all the tiny clothes and ironing them before each of my little ones arrived ...in fact , its the only time i enjoy ironing!
i also liked packing my hospital bag

Sid98 · 28/01/2017 22:32

Got all the things i needed to be prepared

KittyKat88 · 28/01/2017 22:37

For me, it was washing absolutely everything and then making sure the nursery was immaculate. I also had to buy the very best mattress because I was a overly paranoid about the risks of SIDs!

feeona123 · 28/01/2017 23:20

I honestly didn't have any!

Did a bit of washing with the first but didn't with the 2nd. My poor 2nd child still doesn't have his bedroom sorted and he's 13 months old!

lhlee62 · 28/01/2017 23:22

I relaxed and did what I wanted, watched what I wanted and just chilled as I knew a baby would have a massive impact. I felt recharged and ready for the little bundle of joy!

Anniehello · 28/01/2017 23:50

I washed all the new baby clothes, went grocery shopping and prepared the nursery.

cozza777 · 28/01/2017 23:53

I started "nesting" about four months before mine were due 😂 everything was scrubbed and clean, baby clothes washed ironed and put away. With regards to myself though there was no pampering and certainly no pre prepared meals.

cistolic · 29/01/2017 00:18

I had hospital bag packed at 6 months. As I bought it I washed all new baby clothes and bedding. Made sure all other washing and ironing done. Cleaned through my flat when labour started working in between contractions because my first baby took 36 hours so I tried to help things along. When my waters broke I then contacted my midwife, baby was still another 8 hours

SpaceDinosaur · 29/01/2017 04:26

Washed all baby's clothes and bedding.

Cleaned the kitchen... including moving out and cleaning under, behind and the sides of the fridge (I know!)

Long baths with a film on the laptop (balanced on towels on the loo)

BeccaSays · 29/01/2017 09:10

I washed our little baby clothes just yesterday and they're all hanging on the airier to dry. Hospital bag is nearly there and we have almost finished decorating the nursery...can't wait to get everything all put away ready for his arrival. Due in 6 weeks!

Ikea1234 · 29/01/2017 09:23

My pre birth ritual was rather dull, andI wouldn't wish it on anyone! From my seventh month I had to have my hospital bag with me and every other day(weekends included!) I had to go to the hospital and have a scan and my sons heartbeat monitored. I had pre eclampsia and one day I got the dreaded "you're not going home today" nod, and within 12 hours had been induced and was in labour. My son was born one month premature.

On the (big) plus side, he is happy and healthy, and after spending a week in SCBU, we were both discharged and could go home. 😀

happysouls · 29/01/2017 10:11

My rituals all those years ago...well I had a stash of supplies that I built up like a true nest builder haha! The only other ritual I remember is treating myself to a cream cake as a consolation prize any time I had to have a blood test or anything nasty!

IonaAilidh11 · 29/01/2017 10:56

manic cleaning the house, washing all the newborn clothes and hanging up all ready for the arrival

21Catherine21 · 29/01/2017 12:19

I think what I did was called "Nest building" I cleaned everywhere in the run up to my due date and got the 'Layette' ready and washed everything that would come in contact with baby's skin and when I done that I breathed a big sigh of relief knowing I could have a rest before the 'real work' began :)
