Fairy Non Bio is sponsoring the Mumsnet Talk App, and would like you to talk about the pre-birth rituals you had (or have!) with the impending arrival of your little one. Did you wash all of the tiny new baby clothes you’d bought, then carefully fold and hang them? Maybe you manically cleaned the house in preparation or over-eagerly try and toddler proof the house? Perhaps you bulk-made meals so that you could relax once your baby arrived?

Here’s what Fairy Non Bio have to say: “Fairy Non Bio is good for anyone who wants a softer, more sensitive wash (that still leaves clothes clean!). Its gentle formula promises to be kind to both your clothes, and to yours and your new baby’s skin”

So, alongside the Fairy Non Bio sponsorship of the Mumsnet Talk App, they’d like you to talk about the pre-birth rituals you’ve had. If you avidly check out Mumsnet's talk boards, you should download the app for yourself. It's free, and allows you to be part of the conversation wherever you are!

All those who post below will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 Love2Shop voucher.

Thanks and good luck with the prize draw!

I washed everything for the baby and marvelled over how tiny the clothes were that my baby would soon be wearing. I made lists about everything, I didn't realise that there are some things that just can't be planned for! As a pp said, I also peered in at the nursery each night in astonishment that a baby would be in there soon. I would play the mobile music every night to my bump hoping that the baby would hear and become familiar with the tune so that he would be more easily comforted by it once he had arrived.

FlukeSkyeRunner · 28/01/2017 14:13

I cooked about a months worth of meals for the freezer and it was a lifesaver. Also washed all the baby clothes and labelled the drawers so dh could find everything.

GiraffesAndButterflies · 28/01/2017 14:16

I had a KFC. On the basis that it would be much harder to get out of the house for one once the baby came, plus much harder to get all salty and greasy without worrying s/he would interrupt me.
I very rarely have KFC but this was my "craving" or I was just greedy Grin

Oh and with DS I vacuumed the entire house including the ceilings and light fixtures. That was a good day.

Elizasmum02 · 28/01/2017 14:52

i washed all the new clothes with all the kids, and before thye were born i went on a clean blitz mission and washed all the curtains cushions duvets, anything they could go in the machine went in!

chrissieone · 28/01/2017 14:53

I remember maniacally sorting all the baby's clothes in the nursery chest of drawers by size, colour and material.
Three months down the line, I was just opening the door and throwing them in the general direction!

thesockgap · 28/01/2017 14:56

I never actually washed any new clothes (never would have occurred to me before reading it on here!) However while awaiting my first, I would obsessively tidy and sort the nursery on an almost daily basis while waiting for the baby's arrival - hang nappies in nappy stacker, check drawers were organised into vests, babygros, outfits etc - shame I had to do this every day for 6 weeks as I took maternity leave from 36 weeks and he was 2 weeks late!!

Ganne1 · 28/01/2017 15:03

I would never have believed it, but, the minute I realised that I was really ready to give birth, both myself and my husband, separately and independently, went around the house, in different rooms, tidying up and putting things neat. We were just like a couple of expectant birds!

mummy23xxx · 28/01/2017 15:04

I remember when finding out I was pregnant with my first baby - being paranoid about stretchmarks - I worked for a Doctor at the time who told me a patient swore to a bath in Aveno bath milk every night - I did it for 9 months - no stretch marks - did this subsequently then with all 3. Never had a stretch mark at all.

Also with all 3 babies I had to have a blue bounty chocolate bar every night, and would go ballistic if I couldn't get one - cant stand coconut usually. But loved it being pregnant.

My 3 children cant stand coconut now either!!

Awwwww Happy Days - mine are growing up too fast - wish i could do it all over again xx

ThemisA · 28/01/2017 15:08

The day before I gave birth I always had a burst of energy and a compulsion to clean everything in sight, I even vacuumed the car! I always fill the freezer with meals to tide us over the times of exhaustion when we might otherwise resort to bowls of cereal!

AngelwingsPetlamb · 28/01/2017 15:09

I washed and sorted all the little outfits and bedding for the cot. I Spring cleaned the whole house with a wave of pre birth energy that I think a lot of expectant mums experience, goodness knows where it comes from!
I got my bag packed ready for the hospital and asked my husband to mow the lawns too !

RACHELSMITH45 · 28/01/2017 15:12

Having a baby definitely helped motivate me to de clutter!! I washed clothes in non bio... tidied every single room of the house...enjoyed baby clothes shopping.. oh and I slept as much as possible before baby's arrival!(note: only applicable to baby number 1!!)

amyhalliday1 · 28/01/2017 15:13

Washed every twice !!

TiggersAngel7774 · 28/01/2017 15:19

Get your partner to shave your legs . Wash all newborn /0-3 months clothes and try and keep totally up to date with general washing and ironing

Lisapaige24 · 28/01/2017 15:21

I washed and Ironed every item of baby clothing, sheets, blankets etc before the birth of each of my children and disinfected everywhere had my bag packed 2 months in advance cars filled with petrol and booked in for a pre baby pamper session

gaylemcfedries · 28/01/2017 15:25

I never really had the opportunity to be blessed with the hustle and bustle I'm a at risk mum I carry strep b therefore everything needs to be planned no lovely water birth for me.😂 I have 2 stepping big boys now and I'm grateful to every single nurse.

jt75 · 28/01/2017 15:33

I cleaned out all the kitchen cupboards.

maisiesnan · 28/01/2017 15:34

I prepared meals in advance and froze them, I washed all the baby clothes bedding .I packed and repacked the hospital bag several times but the best one was I woke at 5am convinced my waters had broken on each one of my babies birthing days

Eblessing · 28/01/2017 15:36

Bio-oil morning and night. And a weekly pedicure!

jlwells1986 · 28/01/2017 15:40

Im extremely organised and like to ensure all clothes up to 3 months is washed, dried and put away. I also ensure I've brought everything i need for the baby within the first 3 months.

LeeR1985 · 28/01/2017 15:41

We washed all the clothes and had the first week of clothes planned out and seperated in piles. We soon learnt you can't plan a weeks worth of clothes with a newborn! Haha

fayesmummy · 28/01/2017 15:49

With my first I meticulously washed all the baby clothes and made sure they were all ready for her arrival. With my third I didn't even have a hospital bag packed when I went into labour.

pennwood · 28/01/2017 15:57

I washed all my baby clothes & bedding, plus got the nursery all ready to my satisfaction. When this was completed I had the cleaning bug all around the house before finally giving birth.

littlemonkeyz · 28/01/2017 15:58

Reading these comments, I think I must be the only person that had no pre-birth rituals. We also sold our house 3 days before I went into labour so I have to say that that period of time was the least organised that I have ever been.

towser44 · 28/01/2017 16:14

My responsibility was making sure the car was in full working order and had petrol in it!

TJCB68 · 28/01/2017 16:15

By sheer coincidence, both my babies were born just weeks before major (and unavoidable) house moves so the last few weeks were spent frantically packing boxes!!
