The New Year brings about thoughts of new beginnings, and Arla Big Milk would love to know what your intentions are for a fresh start for your family, to help them grow big this January.

What are your plans and aims for the new year? Are you determined to be a better planner of healthier, wholesome meals, to make sure your DC gets enough of the good stuff? Perhaps you’d like your family to practice better sleep hygiene or spend more time together? Maybe you’re looking forward to watching your children grow big and reach milestones like weaning, taking their first steps or learning to read by themselves?

Whatever your aims, share the great ideas you have for a new and fresh start for your family in 2017 with Arla Big Milk below. All who post a comment will be entered into a prize draw where one Mumsnetter will win a £300 voucher of their choice (from a list).

Thanks, and good luck with the prize draw.

janeyf1 · 09/01/2017 08:46

Am walking more -ensuring we get out for fresh air and exercise each day, no matter what the weather brings

I am very conscious at the reports of overweight and children spending too much time being sedentary. I am planning ahead to ensure I plan my meals with as much fruit and vegetables in them (we have just introduced sweet potato wedges which are a firm favourite). The children know we will always walk to school, there and back, and I have just invested in a bike rack and at weekends we plan to go to our local nature trail and ride around it before lunch. We are on week 2 and it is so far so good.

Iv bought a juicer to get healthy. Starting a 28 day juicing challenge today. Also the kids will benefit from it too.

2017 will certainty en a fresh start for me. I left my last job of many years, and started as a CA in the NHS ... a few minutes' walk from my house. It's not as demanding as my last job, whihc including tutoring, but there's less pressure for those who want to work efficiently.

compy99 · 09/01/2017 08:57

mine is to cut down the amount of TV that I watch, I have loads of programmes series linked that I feel obliged to put on even though I have lost interest in many of them, I have gone through my planner and ditched lots of programs and instead I am listening to music.

After suffering a miscarriage and finding out my dad had Cancer last year, I couldn't wait to see the back of 2016! So in 2017 I just want to be happier and I want to spend as much time with my family, a fresh start for all of us

SSCRASE123 · 09/01/2017 09:00

We're all going on a health kick, less TV and easy dinners, more fun, fresh food and family time. Looking forward to it.

emmmaaa26 · 09/01/2017 09:05

Im learning to cook... trying to do at least 50 new meals by the end of this year.

Pimmpom · 09/01/2017 09:07

After realising how much fun we had during Christmas playing board games, I would definitely like to cut down on computer games and have a family games night on Saturdays. I am planning on batch cooking so there are always healthy meals available. I am also going to look after myself mentally and physically by practising yoga everyday - this will benefit the whole family if I am on top of my game.

Bellaboo1234 · 09/01/2017 09:07

Spending more time together playing games as a family along with getting rid of all the Christmas chocolate and getting back to healthy eating!!

jandoc · 09/01/2017 09:09

I'm going to get back to the Jive dancing that I used to do.

N6CNH · 09/01/2017 09:18

This year, I'm determined to cook more homemade meals. Last year we seemed to rely on takeaways, microwave meals and preprepared food... It was a hectic year but I kept making excuses for not preparing and cooking healthy, tasty meals.

This year is going to be different, I've stocked up on the cook books for inspiration and bought plenty of ingredients. I've also the plan of batch cooking and getting the kids involved to make it as fun as possible. Here's to a happy and healthy 2017!

tbell123 · 09/01/2017 09:38

I will keep my cupboards tidy!

kittensmittens12 · 09/01/2017 09:40

I'm going to go to yoga 3 times a week, and cut down my drinking to 1 day a week.

blondie123c · 09/01/2017 09:40

No more junk food everyday! eat clean and to get fitter by walking more and going to the gym, no more excuses! Also to have more family time together where we get out in the fresh air and exercise instead of screen time

Keletubbie · 09/01/2017 09:42

It's time to make our house a home. We've been here 18 months and not done very much... I am noticing it more because I broke my ankle over Christmas and I have been stuck on the lumpy sofa staring at the magnolia walls...

theno1dj · 09/01/2017 09:43

Going to start healthy this year, stay off the alcohol, and do more running, and get another another 5K run in before summer.

footdust · 09/01/2017 09:50

More veggies. Be more positive. Drink more(water not wine!!). Meal plan. Save a certain amount each month. More adventurous food.

voyager50 · 09/01/2017 09:57

hiddenmichelle · 09/01/2017 10:04

Get a new job
Waste less food
Lose 3 stone

prwilson · 09/01/2017 10:33

I'm making a fresh start with my health and fittness - I'm going to eat better and exercise on a more regular basis.

SirNiallDementia · 09/01/2017 10:41

I've started eating low carb and have given up sugar.
Plan to do a big declutter of the house and give anything saleable to our local charity shop to sell on.
Plan to do more games and activities with the kids so they have less screen time.

beeelaine · 09/01/2017 10:42

veggies veggies veggies! i have been on a misson for i cant remember how many years to get the family to eat more veg, the man being the hardest to convince its good for him, i think i manage to get about 3 a day smuggled into their diets! I reached the top of the allotment list and was offered one but it is too small for my dreams so I am waiting for a bigger plot - and wayhay... just wait until i get growing there will be even more freshness and variety for them to chew on... haha... im not sure if my dream is their nightmare!
