The New Year brings about thoughts of new beginnings, and Arla Big Milk would love to know what your intentions are for a fresh start for your family, to help them grow big this January.

What are your plans and aims for the new year? Are you determined to be a better planner of healthier, wholesome meals, to make sure your DC gets enough of the good stuff? Perhaps you’d like your family to practice better sleep hygiene or spend more time together? Maybe you’re looking forward to watching your children grow big and reach milestones like weaning, taking their first steps or learning to read by themselves?

Whatever your aims, share the great ideas you have for a new and fresh start for your family in 2017 with Arla Big Milk below. All who post a comment will be entered into a prize draw where one Mumsnetter will win a £300 voucher of their choice (from a list).

Thanks, and good luck with the prize draw.

We're all getting healthier his year - we have started doing family exercise daily and making time for the boys to cycle to school rather than driving them. Food wise I am meal planning and we're eating much healthier - just got to keep it up now!

ILostItInTheEarlyNineties · 08/01/2017 20:40

Children are being encouraged to eat veg with every meal.

I'm going to regain my fitness - I'm starting to run again, and have a half marathon and full marathon booked in. Scheduling training runs around a 17 month old toddler is a new challenge, but I need to make it work or I'll never get my fitnessback.

We spent most of last year in and out of hospital with DS so our main resolution this year is to make the most of family time - get out in the fresh air, join some groups for him, get away in the summer and just enjoy the English coast (cold sea and all!)
I've just started my diet as well as it got derailed April with a 4 month hospitalisation with DS so trying to cut back on the snacks and cook healthier, fresh food

To just keep fighting!
The problem with setting goals for me is that once I reach them i get demotivated. Or if the goal is too hard I give up. I am trying "the keep fighting" so I can keep going towards being more fit, more patient and healthier.

I split woth my children's dad a few days before christmas. So this year I am going to focus on me and the dc. I will help them move past what they've seen and pick up the pieces every single time their dad let's them.down. I'm going to make this year a year to remember. They've dealt with so much. Their mum being disabled, their dad being depressed and angry all the time. They deserve better and I will give it to them.

Having more healthy, home cooked meals together.

Daphne01 · 09/01/2017 04:42

Spend more time with family, make an effort to see them and get together for a Sunday dinner at least once a month :)

alabaster002 · 09/01/2017 05:55

Count to ten before speaking!

ThemisA · 09/01/2017 05:59

I am determined to keep on top of all my paperwork!

winterpark · 09/01/2017 06:38

We are trying to be more healthy so home cooked meals from scratch and long walks :)

Saplamoj1972 · 09/01/2017 06:51

This year I'm going to say 'no' more! I run round like an idiot trying to keep everyone happy and end up tired, irritable and miserable! This years all about ME 😀

cwalliss82 · 09/01/2017 07:00

The New Year hasn't gone to plan so far. We have fallen into a trend of quick and easy food and have put on a bit of weight. Time to eat healthy and move more as a family. No more chocolates on the sofa.

Kitsune1972 · 09/01/2017 07:10

I've started zinc-copper balancing for myself and my daughter and am hoping it will help us both. I've had chronic fatigue syndrome for many years and have done various things with diet and supplements to improve my symptoms, but it looks like this might be the key to finally getting well. Copper toxicity can be passed from mother to child throughout the generations, as well as a zinc deficiency, and my daughter and I have quite a few symptoms that match these things. You need zinc to both eliminate excess copper, and to get the copper you actually need to the right places in your body. I'm already able to jog in short bursts during a walk, which would have been unheard-of a short time ago. Maybe my daughter's migraines will go away too. Fingers crossed x

wjanice121 · 09/01/2017 07:13

I have a couple of breaks away booked this year so I am trying to loose weight/get fit. I've filled my fridge up with fruit and veg and taken all my left over choccies, biscuits etc into work to be consumed by other #notemptations

glenka · 09/01/2017 07:19

Making more me time and letting others do some of the work around the house.

amyhalliday1 · 09/01/2017 07:22

Less Tv , more play and save the pennies !

maryandbuzz1 · 09/01/2017 07:26

We are going to make sure we have a sit down meal together on a Thursday......have started already. My husband will make sure he's home a little earlier to make this possible. With the help of a nutribullet which was a Christmas present we will cut down on teas, coffees etc and have a healthier option.

flozza42 · 09/01/2017 07:42

I'm starting a new better paid job this month so this will benefit the whole family

warjonson · 09/01/2017 07:43

stay healthy, so I can be there for the family

shroney · 09/01/2017 07:48

I am trying to sleep better and drink less caffeine as I've become a lot more irritable and less able to concentrate so more herbal teas for me.

vonniebab2 · 09/01/2017 08:12

I have always dabbled with yoga/pilates but I have decided that I shall start and do half an hour everyday

juju3 · 09/01/2017 08:13

A change in lifestyle now I'm having to help with my grand daughter - need to declutter and focus

lizd31 · 09/01/2017 08:26

I am teaching my nephew to cook healthy meals for my great niece. He's never cooked before, he usually turns up at meal times for a feed but now he has a slow cooker & has just cooked his first meal which worked out really well so let's hope it continues

AnimalAddict · 09/01/2017 08:27

I plan on getting fitter! More trips to the gym and less getting the bus for me :)
