The New Year brings about thoughts of new beginnings, and Arla Big Milk would love to know what your intentions are for a fresh start for your family, to help them grow big this January.

What are your plans and aims for the new year? Are you determined to be a better planner of healthier, wholesome meals, to make sure your DC gets enough of the good stuff? Perhaps you’d like your family to practice better sleep hygiene or spend more time together? Maybe you’re looking forward to watching your children grow big and reach milestones like weaning, taking their first steps or learning to read by themselves?

Whatever your aims, share the great ideas you have for a new and fresh start for your family in 2017 with Arla Big Milk below. All who post a comment will be entered into a prize draw where one Mumsnetter will win a £300 voucher of their choice (from a list).

Thanks, and good luck with the prize draw.

Need to stop relying on my overdraft to get me from one pay cheque to the next. Am trying to stop shouting permanently

We definitely need to get more exercise - I was doing well through the summer and autumn last year, but life got too busy in the run up to Christmas and I need to get my act together again! I'd like to do more active things with the dc - we have excellent facilities nearby, I just have to push myself to get them ready for things like swimming and biking even when it's cold and wet. We are already starting to eat more healthily as we got a Nutribullet for Christmas which we are using a lot.

I love your s greymalkin :) I might copy!

I haven't decided exactly yet but there are some things I would like to change -

Be more active, cut down on the DC's screen time, get my teeth sorted (need about 3 fillings) and less facebooking for me.

I've had to remove some foods from my diet due to allergies/intolerances so am planning to replace them with things like teff to keep my diet balanced and interesting. I also want to declutter and encourage DD and DS to join in! I want us all to work more too.

I'm reorganising after reading Marie Kondo's book. Less screen time for DD. Less sugar for DH.

I've started already- going through bank accounts, making small changes and cut-backs, planning birthday presents ahead and buying in the sales, putting loose change in a pot. I WILL get to New York!

My fresh start is to get a more structured sleep routine and bed time every night - pack bags for school, bath, story time, bed - and earlier to bed even at the weekend so that they don't fall out of their sleeping pattern.

This is the month the dummy goes. And hopefully we can get DS1 drinking his milk out of a cup too... 🙄
I can't think any further ahead than that right now 🙈

We bought a nutribullet and we've all been having smoothies in the mornings.
Eating more healthily and getting more exercise as well as playing more with the kids is our plan for this year

I'm planning on losing 2 stone

Husband trying to put on a stone

Husband quitting nicotine tablets

Making my 2 year old as active as possible

All eating a healthier diet, less sugar, less fat more lean meats and veggies

Less tv for us all

More walking as a family

Smarter spending which will include meal planning and making a monthly budget and sticking to it.

Making more time to spend alone with each child, so each child has mummy time and daddy time

I'm aiming to lose my baby weight as I'm about 1 stone over normal weight now the Christmas period is over. DD has developed a fear of water so I aim to start taking both DC swimming to help her get over this

For our new year we will be trying to have more outdoor adventure time and to not waste our weekends as much. Me and my partner work full-time and our evenings and weekends are our only time for true bonding family time, we need to make the most of it!!!

More fruit and vegetables. I've been ridiculously unhealthy lately. Less coffee (I will try!!). Just gone down to part time at work so I want to do more stuff with the kids such as crafty things and hopefully less nagging! Hmm

I've made plans to significantly reduce dd's time in front of the TV and actively plan things for our days which she will enjoy. Our current craft projects are based on the moon

Being pregnant and not overweight, I don't want to lose weight or go on a diet, however I dont eat as healthily as I could, and my diet needs improving! So instead of cutting out 'bad' foods or reducing calories I am simply aiming to eat more fruits and vegetables. I'm tracking how many I've had a day to see how often I manage to have 5 or more a day. So far I feel great as I've been opting for an apple or an apricot instead of a chocolate bar when I'm peckish.

Still had a creme egg today though, couldn't resist!

No big changes this year (apart from potty training DC2 in a couple of weeks!), just focusing on building on good habits.

So focusing on nutritious food rather than 'good v bad'.

Taking it slow with family time, and looking for the things we can enjoy together without spending loads of money. Getting lots of fresh air then snuggling up and home 😊

I do want to find a drama/singing club for eldest DC, as they loved performing in their school play.

My aim is to start making my own yogurt for my DD to ensure that she is not consuming too much sugar in ready made ones.

I also want to bring my own muesli into work for snacking time and cut down on my salt and chocolate consumption when i am feeling peckish at work.

to make sure that they are happy.when we argue, tell them they are wrong,if something goes belly up,make sure that as a person as a family they will always know they will be happy again because they have us and we have them.
the world is becoming seriously complex and I'm anxious at planning for no screen time or no milk or no sugar.i don't want to be planning this for my family for the new year.i want that to be in the background perhaps ticking over in my head as a thought as parent. but instead simply to live be the plan.life will come but I just want to make sure they are happy. we will do what needs doing when it comes.
more sugar, then less sugar, read more then earlier to bed. it all going to come. but with life and the enviromoment often so scary at the moment I want to instead equipt them with happiness so they can grow and be dam happy they are doing so.
