In the run-up to the release of their new movie ‘Nine Lives’ on 17th August, Lionsgate would like to hear about the things your pets do that make you think there could be a human trapped inside of them Grin

Here’s what Lionsgate has to say:

‘Nine Lives in a new comedy to be released later this summer, and stars family favourites Kevin Spacey, Christopher Walken, and Jennifer Garner. The plot is about an uptight businessman who is transported into the body of his family’s house cat, as a punishment for him focussing too much on work and not being there for his family, and as expected hilarity ensues.’

‘Take a look at the trailer below:’

So what do your pets do that make you think there’s a human trapped inside them? Do they watch the telly? Comfort your DCs? Or even roll their eyes at you? Are they super sassy or amusingly grumpy all the time? Please tell us about your pet’s human traits below and feel free to share photos of your pets too!

Everyone who posts below will be entered into a prize draw where one Mumsnetter will be able to choose from a £300 Cineworld or Leisure voucher.

Thanks!

We have a three legged cat who suffered a Road Traffic Accident before we knew her and we met at a Cattery Afternoon Fete and were not allowed to leave without her.
She comes and sits between us every time we have a conversation and if food is mentioned she will get up and go to the door and turn round to look at us as if to say" You said FOOD I am on my way to the bowl - COME ON !"

melmoo · 09/08/2016 22:35

We had two rabbits. The nice, loving, tactile one had was John Candy reincarnated but he passed away. So now we're left with the other half of the pair which is Old Man Steptoe. DD thinks he's great because he's soft and fluffy to look at but frankly he's hard to love.

My Cat is plotting. He thinks I don't know but I see him out of the corner of my eye fixing me with his steely gaze. There's definitely something a little untoward going on with him. I genuinely fear for my life. He keeps bringing me the corpses of pigeons as some sort of twisted warning! HELP

Esoresila · 10/08/2016 15:24

It's not my pet but my mums cat Nellie....she 'talks' to me daughter! My daughter meowes hat her in a certain way and Nellie responds back almost immediately it's like they are having a conversation. As soon as we get to my mums Nellie looks for her and they are virtually inseparable!

Our dog Tilly sits and watches tv and adores watching cartoons and emmerdale
she is also very particular about who sits where and is most disgusted when someone sits on what she sees as her settee and fixes them with a good stare but she is won over by a bit of biscuit
my hubby also has a shed full of pigeons and some of them are hand fed and they will quite happily pair up to me and try and follow me into the house so they can stay close by me and we used to have one pigeon called shakey as she had a nervous condition and in the evenings there would be the pigeon on my chest and the dog on my lap watching tv it made my hubby laugh and nobody believed him till he put a photo of the three of us on his facebook page

el2606 · 10/08/2016 18:39

Our dog was lying on my bed with his head on the pillow like a human the other day! So funny! Also he doesn't like dog food any more, he'll only eat human food (tuna and cheese is a particular favourite of his)!

There was a hilarious thread on this subject earlier in the year, I think called something like 'do you narrate for your pet?'. Sadly it was in Chat, so has probably disappeared.

(I narrate my guinea pigs - they are extremely bossy and a bit grumpy on occasion).

Pemba · 11/08/2016 07:10

My favourite on that thread was someone's little dog who talked like the Queen (Corgi perhaps?) who would sit and stare at herself in the mirror, saying 'Who is that beautiful dog? Oh, it is oneself'

I wish I could read that thread again!

My dogs most definitely think they are human and we don't help haha. For example our dogs get birthday parties with their doggy friends, wrapped gifts and cake. Our shitzu hates the rain and won't go out for a wee or walk in the rain until you put her waterproof coat on her. They are after all our babies xx

mumpetuk1 · 11/08/2016 15:46

I talk to my dog like she is a human, she is my best friend and does not repeat anything that I tell her. She does believe she is human though as she always presumes that she is coming with us everywhere

GloGirl · 11/08/2016 16:27

My dog is definitely filled with a human personality. He's such a quick learner and pretty good at training me !

Kangakate · 11/08/2016 21:01

Kanga is a human trapped inside a dog's body, she loves to sleep under the covers or a pillow and she understands when I'm upset sometimes better then my husband does!

My cat is extremely moody, literally has no facial expressions apart from 'what are you?' at us!

I'm sure he thinks he is above us!

Congratulations to Cambam2010 whose name came out of the hat to win the £300 voucher! Grin

We have three cats and all three are really clingy and have to be picked up and cuddled or they cry. One likes to sleep in my arms like a baby. Apparently my hidden talent in life is to make cats clingy. If I ever look after one while someone is on holiday they always mention that the cat has become needy on their return.

NicolaT82 · 12/08/2016 16:48

I have a pair of Guinea pigs called Rick and Daryl, and they think this is their own personal restaurant. They squeak to greet you every morning and run around like crazy knowing their breakfast will be served. As soon as they hear you chopping veggies (or any other thing not necessarily for them lol) they go mental and start making such a fuss.

Even when their bowl of chopped veg is put down to them, they stop and stare at me until i go get their fave handful of spinach, omly then will then settle down to eat lol.

dirtypop · 12/08/2016 17:34

my pet hedgehog is very clever and baffles us all the time, she somehow manages to fit her water bowl behind places that it just should fit, not sure how she gets it there

amrobe · 12/08/2016 19:08

I was on my own in the living room with one of my cats eating some Mr. Kipling Manor House Cake. I went out of the room and when I came back in, I noticed crumbs on the sofa that I definitely did not leave there, it could only have been the cat that had had a sneaky bit when I left the room! I offered her a bit and sure enough she gobbled it down! So I have a cat that enjoys cake as much as I do!

Gill81uk · 12/08/2016 22:20

We sadly don't have a pet, but my friend and neighbour has the most vocal cat ever. I'm sure he thinks he's human. If you walk past and don't notice him he'll give a great big "mioaw" to get your attention! He hates other cats but adores people and children. He's always waiting outside her house at 3.30 as he knows the children come home from school, he comes running at the sound of children's voices and loves them making a fuss of him. If you talk to him he always responds with an array of noises that makes it sound like he's taking part in the conversation.

sarsar123 · 12/08/2016 22:40

Its the way our hamster stands at the cage door, watching us and the tv. He also nibbles all his treat of the stick and moves it upstairs in his cage and places it in a pile.

jamielmdjs · 12/08/2016 23:15

the two cats have very different personalities. Heli is full of fun, always acting the child. Husky is the grumpy brother who disapproves of all the mischief. Personality definitely makes them more human.

Mandahul · 13/08/2016 01:13

Our little Lady Jewel is like a human as she is able to adapt to each and everyone of us. She plays with my youngest and snuggles up to him of a night time, she wakes my teenager up and forces him out of bed to take her out. She listens patiently and caringly to my moans when I get home from work with a sympathetic look, scares of any moths or flys that come in the house that I am petrified of and sits with my husband across his head when we sit down to watch a movie. She understands each and every one of us and is such an important part of our family unit.

My little doggy is a little human, he has been found with baby dummys in his mouth (they go in the bin, they are not recycled back hehe), he's been covered in wall paint when he decided to climb and have a peek what was in there but most of all he loves playing with my little babies .. especially for going for drives around the garden! xx

We had 3 guinea pigs, called Bill, Ted, and Fudgie. They had the run of an enclosed garden and used to love exploring and would make all sort of chatty clicks and squeaks as they milled around, espcially when we were passing. They would wander in and out of the house at will, investigating everything and burbling away. One day there was a chorus of high pitched squeals that had me running out of the house. I discovered a cat stalking them which I duly chased off. All 3 of them came towards me and surrounded my feet in a semi-circle. They were gabbling away exactly how some humans would sound if they were saying things like, 'oh my goodness, did you see that huge cat? Oh I was scared.. etc' It really was quite astonishing and I've never seen animals seem more human than that day.
