In the run-up to the release of their new movie ‘Nine Lives’ on 17th August, Lionsgate would like to hear about the things your pets do that make you think there could be a human trapped inside of them Grin

Here’s what Lionsgate has to say:

‘Nine Lives in a new comedy to be released later this summer, and stars family favourites Kevin Spacey, Christopher Walken, and Jennifer Garner. The plot is about an uptight businessman who is transported into the body of his family’s house cat, as a punishment for him focussing too much on work and not being there for his family, and as expected hilarity ensues.’

‘Take a look at the trailer below:’

So what do your pets do that make you think there’s a human trapped inside them? Do they watch the telly? Comfort your DCs? Or even roll their eyes at you? Are they super sassy or amusingly grumpy all the time? Please tell us about your pet’s human traits below and feel free to share photos of your pets too!

Everyone who posts below will be entered into a prize draw where one Mumsnetter will be able to choose from a £300 Cineworld or Leisure voucher.

Thanks!

Our cats chat to us constantly in a very meowish, yet human way! Their favourite trick is to wait until I have put LO to bed, cleaned the kitchen & then am JUST about to sit down before they start yowling for some different food, because they just don't fancy what's been put down for them!
Our older cat in particular seems very tuned into feelings - many a time I've had a bad day & she will just curl up quietly on my lap, her reassuring weight just making things seem that bit better :) Gotta love cats x

Our dog used to have his friend round!
We had a dog flap so dog could get into the yard whilst we were at school and work. Several times we came home to find that another dog was in the house! Thinking it was a stray my mum eventually adopts this extra dog, paid a fortune for his jabs etc and then he was eventually reclaimed. We were sad to see him go and so was put dog. My dog is dead now and my kids never met him but they like to hear the stories of him inviting his pal round whilst we were out. 🐶.

Her Mistyness will happily lie in your arms like a baby - only fuzzy and cuter.

Barney the Cairn Terrier is 14 and a little weighty now. Near to the time he is fed he will sit in the kitchen quietly trying to catch your eye, and as soon as he does he will pointedly look away and up at the counter where is food is put ready for the day, then look back at you again. There is no mistaking his request!

Bessie, our tiny tortoiseshell cat, is so pretty and innocent looking. However, she likes to lie in wait behind doors or at the top of the stairs, ready to pounce on your feet or even swipe the top of your head through the bannister. .. which is very similar to my children's love of jumping out and shouting 'Boo!' at inopportune moments.

Our cat Max follows my husband around, cries at the door when he thinks my husband has come in or is upstairs and generally wishes to be with him all the time! Our other cat Neve is far more chilled and keeps a close watch on our new baby.

I'm part of a big family and my dog has such a character
My favourite is that the second we start drawing the curtains and lighting candles on a birthday cake he does a huge sigh, heaves himself up and races out of the room so that he doesn't have to endure our singing Grin

thesockgap · 30/07/2016 11:53

Jack the cat sits on the bike store which faces into our kitchen window, meowing so loudly it sounds as though he's saying ME NOW, ME NOW, which our kids take as meaning "feed me now!"

I had a boxer who farted - nuclear, throat-searing, boak-making, silent farts. Usually in the evening, stretched out on the living room carpet while we were all watching tv together.

When he had let one go, he would lift his head slightly and look around. If nobody looked at him he would just put his head back down, but if even one of us looked at him he would drag himself to his feet, hang his head, and slump guilty out of the room!

He was also very aware of us laughing and would join in by looking at us and giving a strange pant, even if he did not need to pant.

my goldfish thinks he's a hurdler jumping out of the bowl

BigGreenOlives · 30/07/2016 21:58

My dogs love watching me cook. They act as if I'm the most amazingly entertaining tv chef, I'm sure my oldest dog could make any thing from my repertoire.

Marshall is Chairman of the Neighbourhood Watch. He's not very good at spotting suspicious characters but has managed to report 17 dogs for 'loitering with intent' in our street.

He also knows that if he manages to escape into the garden late at night then he will be teased back in with a handful of Dreamies. He's not daft at all.

we had a dog who gave us the dirtiest of looks if we were late taking him out for a walk!

My siberian husky used to talk to me when I came home from work. I would ask about his day and he would rowr rowr, then I would tell him about my day and his replies were along the rowr rowr line.

He definitely liked our little ritual and I wish I understood what he had been telling me. Probably about defending our home from the mailman and squirrels!

CathyGlynn · 01/08/2016 14:19

Our dog Marlow has definitely been on this planet before. He understands every word we say and likes nothing more than trying to sit at the table with us for lunch.

Hopelass · 01/08/2016 17:21

Our cat has a human name. She speaks in beeps though and has a variation of beep related nicknames to which she answers to. Of course we speak for her and know exactly what she's saying particularly me as I'm convinced she is me in cat form loves sleep and food, hates company. She is the perfect big sister for my DS though, playful but firm.

My dogs believe they are human, they think they can sit at the table with us when we have dinner, drink our tea if we leave it unsupervised, turn the tv channel over by stepping on the remote and to put the icing on the cake... they have to sleep in my bed! In between me and my partner! Best form of contraception ever i say. Wink

loubymain · 01/08/2016 21:19

Our rabbits sulk if we go away for a few days. They have a huge shed and long run, but as we are away do not get to run free in the garden.. when we return they can hardly bring themselves to look at us... it is a few days before they forgive us.

starryskies78 · 01/08/2016 21:35

Our dog was such a sweetie, he could sense when someone was upset, even from another room and take the time and care to sit and comfort you. It was absolutely adorable. He was most definitely a member of the family, not a pet.

beckyinman · 01/08/2016 22:57

My cat is a little diva - she only eats the food she wants and only moves from the sofa when the sun has got out of reach

user1465258888 · 02/08/2016 02:48

My dog likes to "join in" with my conversations while I'm on the phone! This is a picture of him barking along as I try to chat to my friend.

My dog ignores all other dogs when we are out with him - he thinks they are so inferior to him. He will however run up and introduce himself to other humans, particularly if they have food. We once lost him when we were having a family picnic and discovered he had adopted a different family who were barbecuing sausages.
