We all know that the kitchen can be a bit chaotic at times. Spills, splashes and stains can leave your kitchen looking a little worse for wear. The team at Thirst Pockets wants to know when have kitchen rolls/towels been your kitchen saviour?

Here’s what they say “Here at Thirst Pockets HQ we endeavour to make our kitchen towel as absorbent as we can to help tackle all those household spills! We are super proud of our new look range featuring Original Thirst Pockets, Our beautiful 'I love my Kitchen' decorated version, Multicloth that's amazingly versatile for cleaning windows & mirrors, leaving a streak free finish and most recently Thirst Pockets Extra Long with the same super absorbency as original but with twice as many sheets ... super absorbency goes on & on.”

So when have kitchen rolls been your kitchen lifesaver? Have they saved your DC from skidding on a water spill on the floor? Perhaps they’ve spared you a heart attack by soaking up a gallon of oil and grease from your chips and roasties? Or maybe they just take the hassle out of cleaning regular towels? However your kitchen roll has been your kitchen lifesaver, Thirst Pockets would love to know.

Everyone who posts on this thread will be entered into a prize draw where one lucky Mumsnetter will win a £300 Love2Shop voucher.

Outside of the normal day to day kitchen spills...used it to wrap up fragile Christmas decorations, between crockery when moving house and ran out of newspaper, and mopping up wee when DD manages to leave a puddle between nappy coming off and me putting her in the bath.

In the early newborn days, kitchen roll was my wingman at most nappy changes for those little surprise wees 😂

Earlier in the week dh and I had a bit of a row (long story) and I ended up stabbing him. In all the fuss a jug of custard got knocked over - what with that and the blood it was quite a mess! Luckily I'd got plenty of kitchen roll on hand to deal with it before the emergency services arrived.

kitchen towels are a must in our kitchen.. they have come in use many a time especially when the little darlings decide to spill juice or water all over the floor

Mopping up spilt drinks. A house I used to live in had a sloping laminate floor, so if a drink was spilt it was a race to mop it up before it rolled into the corner!

God every day! My son is a mucus machine. Ordinary tissues are hopeless. We need a big sheet.

Kitchen roll was my absolute saviour when as I was painting tiles in the kitchen DS spilled the paint tin, quick thinking and amazing kitchen paper saver the new floor tiles from disaster (yes is was oil based paint I was using and the kitchen paper soaked most up!)

When I was making a cake a few weeks ago and the hand held mixer slipped and splattered batter everywhere - all over cupboards , the worktop, kettle etc - I couldn't have cleaned it up so fast without kitchen towels!

I always carry a sheet of kitchen roll in my pocket for emergencies. It's great for nose-blowing, mopping up embarrassing drink spillages at friends' houses, wiping chocolate smears from daughter's face and all manner of other things. (Not all using the same sheet of course!)
The kitchen roll that I use is so good that if you accidentally leave it in your pocket and it goes into the washing machine it comes out good as new and ready to use again once dried. Remarkable!

Perfect for children to take to school for tears and runny noses because it doesn't disintegrate like tissues do, plus, if it gets left in a pocket and goes through the wash it isn't a fluff disaster!

Whenever DH is cooking - every surface always ends up covered, so kitchen roll to mop up the numerous spills is invaluable Grin

Similar to a lot of other posters:

  • all the usual kitchen spills
  • cleaning up cat sick
  • blotting spilt drinks in the carpet / sofa
  • napkins for takeaways and picnics
  • scraping grease out if baking trays rather than it all going into the sink / dishwasher
  • buffing the hob to a nice shine
  • cleaning windows

I sometimes worry it is not environmentally friendly to use so much, but life is challenging enough with young DC and a big house to look after, so kitchen towel is essential here!

I just bloody love kitchen roll so much more hygenic than a revolting old cloth. I use them all the time My DS broke a whole box of eggs two days ago and they were brilliant at absorbing the eggy mess before I mopped the floor.

I use them for everything! But they're great for wiping baking trays that have only had, say, a croissant in them and don't warrant going in the dishwasher.

I think lifesaver is a bit dramatic but it's true that I would not be without kitchen roll for coping with spills, wiping greasy fingers and soaking up fats from food.

I always make sure I pack some when we go away self-catering, in case there isn't any in the kitchen.

usually for mopping up spills. It's a known fact that if you serve 2 or more children a drink one of them will knock it over. The spill factor gets higher the stickier the content of the juice! So orange juice is more likely to spill than water etc. Using kitchen roll usually means that the next time you sit at the table your clothing does not stick to the surface!

I'm addicted in equal part to a) kitchen towel and b) baby wipes!

Kitchen towel is just great for scooping up the eons of dropped food and putting straight in the bin!

When I managed to spill all of our Christmas lunch gravy all over the floor. It was my only task, husband was doing the main and our two daughters were in charge of the starter and dessert. I can't believe how much mess one jug of gravy can make.............it all got cleaned up thanks to Thirst Pockets but I'm still hoping it was a one off as I was very unpopular when we had to make do with the instant stuff.

They double up as a bib when I'm secretly eating spicy noodles which I'm guaranteed to drop down my front, and an extra-strong tissue to wipe my nose on afterwards.

I have used them to wipe down kitchen surfaces since I saw a horrific programme on TVs which was about germs around the home, especially on dish cloths. I also use them to wipe down the car windscreen, eating pot noodles (as a bib) and when disinfecting the Guinea pig cage out. They are also great for nosebleeds. I tend to buy in bulk.

Kitchen roll is a life saver when you have a toddler...I think they save my life most days...most gross use is probably on wee spillages...also their the only thing that lifts that annoying grey fluff in the bathroom.. Love them
