We all know that the kitchen can be a bit chaotic at times. Spills, splashes and stains can leave your kitchen looking a little worse for wear. The team at Thirst Pockets wants to know when have kitchen rolls/towels been your kitchen saviour?

Here’s what they say “Here at Thirst Pockets HQ we endeavour to make our kitchen towel as absorbent as we can to help tackle all those household spills! We are super proud of our new look range featuring Original Thirst Pockets, Our beautiful 'I love my Kitchen' decorated version, Multicloth that's amazingly versatile for cleaning windows & mirrors, leaving a streak free finish and most recently Thirst Pockets Extra Long with the same super absorbency as original but with twice as many sheets ... super absorbency goes on & on.”

So when have kitchen rolls been your kitchen lifesaver? Have they saved your DC from skidding on a water spill on the floor? Perhaps they’ve spared you a heart attack by soaking up a gallon of oil and grease from your chips and roasties? Or maybe they just take the hassle out of cleaning regular towels? However your kitchen roll has been your kitchen lifesaver, Thirst Pockets would love to know.

Everyone who posts on this thread will be entered into a prize draw where one lucky Mumsnetter will win a £300 Love2Shop voucher.

Kitchen roll regularly saves my family's life! DH keeps disappearing with it - cleaning windows, buffing his car, mopping up oil in the garage, polishing shoes...and so it keeps him away from the kitchen, saving the rest of the family from his deadly cooking! Wink

The 826262 times my children have spilled a full 6 pints if milk in the fridge, on the floor, everywhere!

Also they make cleaning in general very easy, windows shine and great oil absorbers when cooking.

Only realise how often I use kitchen towel when it runs out and I go to grab some. A lifesaver for kids spills, wiping grubby mouths and snotty noses on the way out the door, drying clean but still wet work surfaces, napkins for messy teas and even instead of a plate for a small snack when we can't be bothered with washing up!

ann28 · 14/04/2016 13:05

I used them to out underneath the dolls house, so it wouldn't slide off the little table it was sitting on, kept my DD happy for hours!

Catsgowoof · 14/04/2016 14:35

great for cleaning up diy mess

cookie09 · 14/04/2016 14:36

I dropped a baking tin full of oil out the oven and it went everywhere on my slate kitchen tiles, the kitchen towels were a lifesaver just to soak up the excess whilst i got my mop sorted. Needless to say even though i used kitchen towels, i know that if it was my partner or kids that did something like this, they would use my teatowel and ruin it. I always make sure my kitchen roll is stocked up, for those slippy moments.

When my son pours all his drink all over the floor.

BlackeyedPetitsPois · 14/04/2016 16:44

Old cat = little accidents. Kitchen towels buy me that bit of extra time to clean up before toddler tramples through!

PegsPigs · 14/04/2016 20:03

When the freezer defrosted itself kitchen towels were great at mopping up under the freezer. Ditto when the washing machine got blocked.

Santress · 14/04/2016 20:49

I use kitchen towels for so many things - mopping up juice or spills to wiping little hands and faces, and cleaning the carpet as my little on is currently potty training

Amaksy · 14/04/2016 21:12

OH WHAT WOULD I DO WITHOUT MY KITCHEN TOWEL? A COMPLETE LIFE SAVER FOR EVERY NEED! YES I HAVE EVEN USED IT FOR CLEANING BABY'S NOSE DUE TO NON-STOP COLD THIS SEASON.

Haffdonga · 14/04/2016 21:25

DH has man flu - without a roll of kitchen roll surgically attached to his face he would have to sit with his head in a bucket.

StickChildNumberTwo · 14/04/2016 21:35

Usually when I accidentally overwater the plants and mucky water spills over the trays they sit in....

smithsurvey14 · 14/04/2016 22:27

Kids, cats, spills, accidents, condensation..... the list goes on but the real lifesaver is killing woodlice (I am shuddering even thinking about them) without stamping on them and leaving a mess!

lolosmama · 14/04/2016 23:46

When my dog was poorly, I won't go into too much detail, but yes my kitchen roll was a godsend when that happened

babba2014 · 15/04/2016 02:34

Every time I make tea or pour milk and it somehow goes on the worktop Grin Saves me getting the how did you manage to do thaaat? From DH.

Just now, one toddler decided to empty his potty over the floor and the crawling baby decided to knock over a glass of milk. Not mum of the year today, but saved by kitchen roll!!

LittlehamHums · 15/04/2016 10:32

Yesterday when I opened a cupboard and a large glass jar of baby beetroot jumped out onto the kitchen floor smashing and sending a wave of purple beetroot juice, glass and baby beetroot hurling across my white floor. It took two whole rolls to deal with the carnage!

lynwestie · 15/04/2016 11:24

When I dropped a 4 pint bottle of pink last week. Hadn't noticed it had punctured and I ended up with a big puddle on the hallway carpet and a trail of milk right through to the kitchen. My kitchen towels came to the rescue and soaked it all up without even the need to bend over. (A good stamp of the foot on paper towel is the best job)

The worst thing that happened where kitchen towels was a lifesaver, was when I spilt half a bottle of cooking oil over the kitchen floor. Total disaster, as oil is impossible to get off a lino floor. I had to put down 2 packs of kitchen towels and newspaper on top, so it would soak up. I then left if for a couple of days, and picked up and then washed the floor about 5 times.

Maddaddam · 15/04/2016 12:20

They can be used as emergency coffee filters. Which feels like a lifesaver at 7am, for a coffee addict.

marshgirl · 15/04/2016 21:52

I have a very clumsy boyfriend and daughter so Kitchen towel is my saviour. Many a spillage in the kitchen and front room, also always get through a lot when spring cleaning. I use so much when cleaning my windows.

manfalou · 15/04/2016 22:28

Thirst Pockets always come to the rescue at lunch time... at least 4 times a week one of the kids tips their drink over.... we have to mop it up 'before the ants get it' as they say

candish63 · 16/04/2016 06:16

Kitchen roll is great for when you're out, picnics and in the car
