We all know that the kitchen can be a bit chaotic at times. Spills, splashes and stains can leave your kitchen looking a little worse for wear. The team at Thirst Pockets wants to know when have kitchen rolls/towels been your kitchen saviour?

Here’s what they say “Here at Thirst Pockets HQ we endeavour to make our kitchen towel as absorbent as we can to help tackle all those household spills! We are super proud of our new look range featuring Original Thirst Pockets, Our beautiful 'I love my Kitchen' decorated version, Multicloth that's amazingly versatile for cleaning windows & mirrors, leaving a streak free finish and most recently Thirst Pockets Extra Long with the same super absorbency as original but with twice as many sheets ... super absorbency goes on & on.”

So when have kitchen rolls been your kitchen lifesaver? Have they saved your DC from skidding on a water spill on the floor? Perhaps they’ve spared you a heart attack by soaking up a gallon of oil and grease from your chips and roasties? Or maybe they just take the hassle out of cleaning regular towels? However your kitchen roll has been your kitchen lifesaver, Thirst Pockets would love to know.

Everyone who posts on this thread will be entered into a prize draw where one lucky Mumsnetter will win a £300 Love2Shop voucher.

Eggs. Sodding eggs dropped on the floor which usually would take
a billion paper towels to mop up, used two sheets of thirst pockets and got the lot in one go

the fact we then had takeaway rather than omlettes is another story Grin

with or without the kids it comes in handy for lots of different things

roggy45 · 11/04/2016 16:55

Very useful for placing fried food on to soak up any excess oil. The fluffy bits of towel do not stick to them any more.

olivia280177 · 11/04/2016 17:41

I use it all the time to clean. It's a lot more hygienic than using reusable cloths.
I hadn't put the lid on my son's cup properly the other day and he dropped it and it went everywhere. The kitchen towel was a life saver then.

nbaskers20 · 11/04/2016 19:10

I've used them for cleaning up anti-bacterial spray on messy sides when I've ran out of cleaning clothes, they've been brilliantly when I didn't realise all the clothes were in the wash.

When making gallons of low-fat tzatziki when I'm dieting - you have no idea how much water has to be wrung out of a grated cucumber.

Emgrace · 11/04/2016 19:35

All of the time, with a toddler i use it daily for spillages

windowmouse · 11/04/2016 20:05

With spills and when eating messy meals

catgirl2 · 11/04/2016 20:17

Cat sick / hairballs. Gross but happens quite regularly in our house (always on the best rug in various different spots)....

My children love to redecorate the kitchen with weetabix at breakfast time. As we all know Weetabix resembles cement if it dries so I just mop it up with kitchen towel and chuck it in the bin!

KIRANKAUR1985 · 11/04/2016 21:14

Opening the fridge door and things fly out of the fridge over me or onto the floor!!

andreaca · 11/04/2016 21:58

my house is not complete without my kitchen roll, its a godsend, I polish, clean, wipe and mop up with it,. I take it on abroad on holiday, camping and always have some in my bag, you never know when I`m gonna need it.

rennie1811 · 11/04/2016 22:07

kitchen roll is always great to have on hand. With kids like mine there are always spillages and a kitchen roll does the trick!

Wendywhyte · 11/04/2016 22:12

I used it tonight to wipe out fat from the roSting tin, i stead of pouring it away, it was mopped up and disposed of

k8vincent · 11/04/2016 22:39

I love kitchen towel - like others I use it for those puddles in the fridge, the egg on the floor that DS3 dropped whilst cooking, cleaning the bottom sill of the dishwasher, wiping stuff off faces.

worriedmum46 · 11/04/2016 23:09

Early cooking efforts from the kids have required plenty of kitchen roll! Not much made the bowl. More recently I was given a counter top hot water dispenser. It's a tad slow to fill a mug so I do a chore and turn back to see my cup of coffee pouring down the front of the cabinets :/

Happyjad · 12/04/2016 00:33

Kitchen roll very good for polishing windows and the absorbency makes it a real quick and spotless job

angiehoggett · 12/04/2016 07:23

It's handy everyday for so many uses but especially when I opened a bottle of coke and it fizzed all over the kitchen. It was everywhere, the walls, floor, ceiling, door!

planepointer · 12/04/2016 08:31

Kitchen towels are fantastic for horrible spills that you don't want to get on a cloth, and for degreasing pans before washing so you don't clog your pipes with fat.

sulalovesbing · 12/04/2016 10:20

When my puppy weed on the floor!

Mozarmstrong · 12/04/2016 11:47

This is pure magic on a roll . Bring on every disaster and wonders in the whole of the house. Brilliant .

beckyinman · 12/04/2016 12:33

For all sorts, lots of spillages, for draining excess fat off meat, for catching egg shells when peeling boiled eggs for lunchboxes

Lulabellx1 · 12/04/2016 13:47

Our dog caught salmonella poisoning from our back-yard hens. There was a lot of dog sick to clear up... thank god for the Thirst Pockets!!! :)

littleacceb · 12/04/2016 14:13

After my daughter was born at home!

Sooner · 12/04/2016 14:48

Kitchen roll is essential in my house! We use it for non-fancy napkins with everyday family meals. Promise I break out more fancy stuff for guests!
