We all know that the kitchen can be a bit chaotic at times. Spills, splashes and stains can leave your kitchen looking a little worse for wear. The team at Thirst Pockets wants to know when have kitchen rolls/towels been your kitchen saviour?

Here’s what they say “Here at Thirst Pockets HQ we endeavour to make our kitchen towel as absorbent as we can to help tackle all those household spills! We are super proud of our new look range featuring Original Thirst Pockets, Our beautiful 'I love my Kitchen' decorated version, Multicloth that's amazingly versatile for cleaning windows & mirrors, leaving a streak free finish and most recently Thirst Pockets Extra Long with the same super absorbency as original but with twice as many sheets ... super absorbency goes on & on.”

So when have kitchen rolls been your kitchen lifesaver? Have they saved your DC from skidding on a water spill on the floor? Perhaps they’ve spared you a heart attack by soaking up a gallon of oil and grease from your chips and roasties? Or maybe they just take the hassle out of cleaning regular towels? However your kitchen roll has been your kitchen lifesaver, Thirst Pockets would love to know.

Everyone who posts on this thread will be entered into a prize draw where one lucky Mumsnetter will win a £300 Love2Shop voucher.

For some reason, my washing machine decided to spew out suds all over my kitchen floor, I just grabbed the kitchen roll and use it to mop the water up quickly and saved the water from going under the plinth and us having to pull everything out to dry and the machine was in built

I put a glass of pop on my laptop (not sure why!) and one of the kids knocked over...by laying kitchen towels over the keyboard it soaked up the pop and my laptop still worked afterwards!

I also use them when doing stews in the SC, they work great for picking the fat off the top of the gravy!

Thirst pockets - brilliant if puppy has an accident.

Just the other day when my son was making his exploding volcano for his school home learning project....salt dough, paint and bicarbonate of soda everywhere!!

glasgowlass · 10/04/2016 18:48

I use kitchen towel for everything from cleaning to mopping up grease in stews as they cook. I would be lost without it. That is no exaggeration. I've always got a roll handy.

Dormouse1940 · 10/04/2016 19:05

I have a toddler, soo....every mealtime? And all of the in between times when he spills his beaker everywhere too!

In fairness, my other half is even clumsier, so I'm often mopping up after his spills and mishaps too. All hail Kitchen paper!

When DD tipped a full tumbler of chocolate milkshake over herself, the tablecloth and the dining room carpet! Never seen such a mess, but copious quantities of kitchen towel, various cleaning solutions and salt eventually saved the carpet!

peardroplets · 10/04/2016 19:14

We are doing baby led weaning and dd chucks a LOT of food on the floor. Kitchen towels are a great way to pick it up without getting half gummed broccoli all over your hands.

compy99 · 10/04/2016 19:17

I cannot imagine not having kitchen towels, I have used them for so many things over the years, I find them great for buffing up the glass on the windows and shower doors.

All the time!! My son is always dropping things & spilling drinks! Kitchen towels are top on my shopping list every week

seeingdouble2 · 10/04/2016 20:10

my children are very handy at knocking drinks over so it comes in handy pretty quick.

sammylea80 · 10/04/2016 20:25

I use them every day, especially with 2 cats in the house that like to leave disgusting presents for me!

joroberts79 · 10/04/2016 20:28

When my dishwasher leaked...plugged the leak with kitchen towel while I turned the water off at the mains!

Ethan260908 · 10/04/2016 20:40

For when the cat is pukking everywhere. Delightful it is not!

Dencop · 10/04/2016 20:45

kitchen roll is the essential everywhere, if we're going out to eat as a family I always take some in my bag, fantastic for that inevitable juice spill from one of my 5

sarah861421 · 10/04/2016 20:45

my daughter is always spilling things, ( she is 21 ! ) . if we are eating and someone spills a drink, it is always always her
Kitchen towels have been a saviour for many a family meal

hann24 · 10/04/2016 20:57

Kitchen towels are a lifesaver on a daily basis to mop up all sorts of spills!

moneypenny66 · 10/04/2016 21:11

Kitchen roll is great for wiping out excess oil from frying pans before cleaning them properly. It saves all that oil going down the sink.

pfcpompeysarah · 10/04/2016 21:11

I think kitchen towel is invaluable at times, my son uses it to clean his hands or wipe his face when eating every meal, its useful for mopping up spillages when you don't want to use a cloth, its good for mopping dirty paws when pets come in from outside, and tbh as grim as this is, its been very useful when my cat decides to puke up on my floor.

shawbarbara · 10/04/2016 21:19

Too many times to count! Toddler vomitting in car, dog being sick etc We have so many messes here.

pinklady123456 · 10/04/2016 21:22

To be honest I use them for everything, from spills and for picnics to cleaning benches

SouthWestmom · 10/04/2016 21:25

Today! DC came and told me they'd knocked a bottle of Babycham Blush over behind a fridge in the utility room.

One zillion paper towels later and I've saved the day. It's great at putting at the edge of something, like a fridge, and drawing liquid out.

shivbrown · 10/04/2016 21:31

My eldest is terrified of spiders and when i was out he decided to take the hose inside and spray the spider however ofcourse everything else got soaked and a whole pack of Kitchen towels were used.

Coming home to a shallow swimming pool in our kitchen was abit of a shock but we laugh about it now x

Kitchen roll is an absolute essential day to day in house.. a prime example this evening.. My son was hoovering up Cheerios while watching Thomas, got distracted & pushed his bowl off the edge of the sofa - emptying the contents of his bowl all over a box full of his Thomas track & trains - argh! Raced into the kitchen to grab the kitchen roll which did a superb job of soaking up the excess milk, leaving me to pluck out the rapidly drying cereal hoops before they set like concrete! It's perfect for little (& big) spillages & cleaning after the cats as well as my son! Couldn't do without it in our house!

Tkw2014 · 10/04/2016 21:47

Kitchen towel and baby wipes are must haves in my house! My dd spilt a drink yesterday and it went everywhere! That was my last kitchen towel use!
