We all know that the kitchen can be a bit chaotic at times. Spills, splashes and stains can leave your kitchen looking a little worse for wear. The team at Thirst Pockets wants to know when have kitchen rolls/towels been your kitchen saviour?

Here’s what they say “Here at Thirst Pockets HQ we endeavour to make our kitchen towel as absorbent as we can to help tackle all those household spills! We are super proud of our new look range featuring Original Thirst Pockets, Our beautiful 'I love my Kitchen' decorated version, Multicloth that's amazingly versatile for cleaning windows & mirrors, leaving a streak free finish and most recently Thirst Pockets Extra Long with the same super absorbency as original but with twice as many sheets ... super absorbency goes on & on.”

So when have kitchen rolls been your kitchen lifesaver? Have they saved your DC from skidding on a water spill on the floor? Perhaps they’ve spared you a heart attack by soaking up a gallon of oil and grease from your chips and roasties? Or maybe they just take the hassle out of cleaning regular towels? However your kitchen roll has been your kitchen lifesaver, Thirst Pockets would love to know.

Everyone who posts on this thread will be entered into a prize draw where one lucky Mumsnetter will win a £300 Love2Shop voucher.

Its good for everything.I like to use it to do a quick clean around the house with antibacterial spray.

They saved my dinner when my daughter spilt her juice on my plate

Lucas83 · 10/04/2016 22:02

When I started soaking my twins milk bottles in the sink and then my daughter decided to have the biggest poo of her life, I was mid way through changing her when I heard the splatter of water on the kitchen floor and had no tea towels to wipe it up with as they were all under the sink and totally soaked! Returned to my daughter to find she had wiped poo all over my floor so I used the remainder of the kitchen roll to clean that up!

KittyKat88 · 10/04/2016 22:02

I always keep a good stock of kitchen towels - with two DDs (age 3 & 5) there are always plenty of spills to deal with! Everything from water to juice to chocolate milkshake (which took about half a roll!! Shock) The most disgusting reasons I've used it has been the cat sick or other cat 'messes' on the carpet - after mopping up the worst of it, my kitchen roll helps to soak up any excess fluids. I can't be the only one who leaves the line of kitchen towel sheets to 'mark the wet spot' can I? Grin

Kitchen roll is great for mopping. When I was washing the dishes before a few dishes fell in to the sink and water was every where. Kitchen roll is thicker than toilet roll so it's a lot easier to use when the floor is wet. I have also used kitchen roll for when the milk fell out of the fridge freezer and milk was everywhere.

Having four children and a dog I use them for almost everything. I use them to clean spilled juice and water. To clean out my daughters hamster cage, dirty paw prints from the carpet. There great for cleaning the hand prints of the tv and Windows.

We have a pukey baby and kitchen roll makes middle of the night clear ups so much easier.

Funkyferret · 10/04/2016 23:38

Ah, last month. We had a tapas style snacky dinner and I'd put a few sheets of kitchen roll on the table if anyone needed to wipe their hands (I know, so classy!), Plates cleared and we got the laptop out to watch some nonsense on YouTube. Cue glass of water getting spilled across the table. Grab leftover kitchen roll in a panic, stick on keyboard. All fine - not like the last time that happened which ended up with a totally destroyed laptop . . .

Where can I start?
From stopping nosebleeds, to handkerchiefs to soaking up large amounts of water from various spillages, they're an essential item in my nome and I make sure I stock up.

lollydollylove · 10/04/2016 23:56

Kitchen towels are always a lifesaver when I'm dishing up the dog's food shudder Thirst pockets mean I can wipe down the countertops quicker.

whatsbehindthegreendoor · 11/04/2016 05:39

Kitchen towels are definitely a must have in this household! Whether it's for cleaning spillages in the fridge, wiping dust off the shelf or mopping up spilt water, they're a god send. We also have to make sure we have them in our campervan - they're great for holding burgers, wiping the barbecue tongs, and wiping down the awning when it's rained (good old British weather!). Without kitchen towel in my life, I'd be doing a lot more washing, that's for sure.

kateandme · 11/04/2016 06:40

cup of tea spillages

BeeMyBaby · 11/04/2016 09:12

When clearing up fresh dog vomit, I really needed strong paper for that and it did the trick and I didn't get it all over my hands Grin

shroney · 11/04/2016 09:33

for so many uses, from wiping mucky hands and to buffing my mirrored door oven to a perfect shine!

kamaxtra · 11/04/2016 09:38

Opened a vacuum sealed pack of beetroot which went EVERYwhere...was terrified of getting it on my clothes, haha. Those things are very awkwardly packaged! Luckily kitchen towels came to the rescue.

like7 · 11/04/2016 09:46

My favourite thing about kitchen roll is wiping all the grease/fat out of a baking tray before putting it into the dishwasher or washing it up. It's lovely to get rid of all that muck into the bin without making any cloths dirty.

yourgrace · 11/04/2016 11:59

When I cut my arm in the garden used tea towel as a tourniquet

Heidipiedy · 11/04/2016 12:47

my 3 year old loves to help wash up - but his idea of washing up is playing with the water - it goes everywhere - thirst pockets are great at wiping up the mess

Soosieboo · 11/04/2016 13:50

I always have at least one or two sheets in my pocket - used as hankies.. Also handy when I tipped over my flask cup in work and tea nearly flowed onto important paperwork!

nerysw · 11/04/2016 14:07

Great for spills (and instead of napkins since we're not posh).

happysouls · 11/04/2016 14:23

Every occasion that I've knocked a coffee over and its gone flying straight towards whatever important things are in the way...keyboard, phone, paperwork....!

maisiesnan · 11/04/2016 15:00

I've used kitchen towels for all sorts of emergencies from animal poo and vomit to mopping up spillages I think I must have used it for everything you can think of.My latest emergency was this weekend, my granddaughter aged 5 had homework to do about the arctic...Ta Da we made an arctic scene using lots of kitchen roll , then my mother who's 79 & on blood thinners had a terrible nose bleed .....Kitchen roll to the rescue once again!!!

prettybird · 11/04/2016 15:15

Put a couple of sheets at the bottom of your kitchen bin. That way, even if your bin liner splits because you've overfilled it , the worse of the bin juices are absorbed.

When my toddler knocked my tea off the sofa the other day!
