These days, parenting tips are available from a wealth of sources and sometimes it can be tricky to know who to listen to. The team at Nurofen for Children would love to hear who you turn to for the best parenting advice and why you trust or listen to them most of all.

Here's what Nurofen for Children says,"Being a parent is a wonderful life changing experience, full of challenges and triumphs at every stage. We understand seeking advice from a variety of sources is an important part of feeling confident in the decisions you make for your children, so we’d love to hear who you turn to for advice (and the reasons you love the tips they give)".

So please share on this thread your best sources of advice: whether it's a trusted friend who has been there and done that, your own mum, your health visitor, a magazine or blog, the content pages or talk boards on MN Wink etc. They'd also like to know why you love that source of advice so much - perhaps you could share the best advice you've been given and why it worked for you.

Everyone who posts on this thread will be entered into a prize draw where one mumsnetter will win a £300 Love2Shop voucher!

Thanks

MNHQ

My first port of call is always my mum. She did an amazing job with my sister & I. If the problem is something she would not have encountered, I would rely on help from the forum

My mum as she did a good job of raising me and my sisters and if I can do half the job she did I would be happy.

My mom, she is always my first port of call. She usually advises me on whether I'm being silly and over reacting when my daughter is unwell, or whether I should follow my gut and call the doctors. She also gives the best advice on discipline, picky eating and anything toddler related, but never tries to interfere. I don't know what I'd do without her

I've always turned to my mum for advice. She has had 4 kids and we all grew up to be good so she must have done something right. I don't ask for much advice now as my daughter is much easier to deal with now that she's 6.. It was a nightmare when she was a baby though as I didn't know what to do!!

Lots of people. My Mum is no longer alive, so I would ask a variety of people including friends, relatives, medical professionals, hubby and online advice.

I tend to go to Family and friends that have had Children for advice as they are the people I trust the most. My mum was a nurse so she is good to turn to for medical advice,I try not to google health issues as I always come to the worst conclusion.

It all depends on what I need advice on health visitor or pharmacist for health matters, and friends or mumsnet for just about anything else.

Online forums - I really like the diverse range of opinions and advice. It also makes you feel less alone.

My mum, she brought me and my sister up and I can talk to her easily.

Myself, as it really isn't a huge thing people have having kids since time began

It depends on what its for. My mum is good for some things but other stuff has changed so much that her advice might not be the best advice for that particular situation. I utilise the internet to gather lots of information and then use what I think is applicable. I also talk to my mummy friends for some things.
