These days, parenting tips are available from a wealth of sources and sometimes it can be tricky to know who to listen to. The team at Nurofen for Children would love to hear who you turn to for the best parenting advice and why you trust or listen to them most of all.

Here's what Nurofen for Children says,"Being a parent is a wonderful life changing experience, full of challenges and triumphs at every stage. We understand seeking advice from a variety of sources is an important part of feeling confident in the decisions you make for your children, so we’d love to hear who you turn to for advice (and the reasons you love the tips they give)".

So please share on this thread your best sources of advice: whether it's a trusted friend who has been there and done that, your own mum, your health visitor, a magazine or blog, the content pages or talk boards on MN Wink etc. They'd also like to know why you love that source of advice so much - perhaps you could share the best advice you've been given and why it worked for you.

Everyone who posts on this thread will be entered into a prize draw where one mumsnetter will win a £300 Love2Shop voucher!

Thanks

My own mum as she is reliable and trustworthy x

Eggsandketchup · 13/02/2016 07:40

A group of about 30 women who I met on mn, and now we have our own private fb group. I go to them for all parenting advice.

bridge16 · 13/02/2016 07:44

I turned to my older sister because she has twins and then another one and she is an amazing mum who works and manages to juggle everything and make it look easy so was happy to take her advice!

maryandbuzz1 · 13/02/2016 07:51

If it's medical advice it is always the doctor but anything else it is my mum

mutleythegooner · 13/02/2016 08:05

I always go to my big sister, She has raised four of her own and has been there, seen it and done it. She is invaluable!

mave · 13/02/2016 08:06

My mum she's been brilliant with my children, I don't know how I'd have managed without her!

cheapandcheerful · 13/02/2016 08:25

The Bible I full of parenting advice! I often look in there.

grumpymummy3 · 13/02/2016 08:28

My mum and sister
For anything medical / urgent my GP/Health Visitor

littlemonkeyz · 13/02/2016 08:34

My mum has lots of great advice. I am old enough now to understand that she does know better a lot of the time. Also I never underestimate my own intuition and gut feeling, if you feel that something is wrong, always act on it because you are always right!

ninamotylinski · 13/02/2016 08:36

My mum, she's brought up her own children and was a nursery nurse so I trust her advice 100%!

Anam110 · 13/02/2016 08:52

For medical advice would be our GP. For anything else, other mums especially my own! I find myself relating to other mums much better and find their advice as more accurate and easier to apply.

tompob · 13/02/2016 08:56

when we had number 1, which turned out to be 1 and 2 lol, we relied heavily on our friend who happens to be a widwife, a great source and always willing to help and advise... godmother of course.

emilybc · 13/02/2016 08:58

My mum is the best and most obvious choice for parenting advice - she bought up the 3 of us and is so kind and caring, I always turn to her for help!

clopper · 13/02/2016 09:03

I usually turn to friends for advice. Mumsnet can be useful but I try and avoid doctor Google as it makes me more anxious!

Ganne1 · 13/02/2016 09:04

My mother, who else? Even if she is French!

tarauk2016 · 13/02/2016 09:09

My mum - I'm 29 and I still finding myself phoning her to ask for help and advice all the time. I guess I have a great role model to look up to because she did a great job bringing up me and my brother :-)

janeyf1 · 13/02/2016 09:12

always my mum - she has been through a lot raising me then my brother 8 years later. I wouldn't cope without her experience, advice and support

popperdoodles · 13/02/2016 09:19

Mum used to be my first port of call, particularly when they were tiny. These days I am more likely to turn to the Internet because we have different views. We still discuss things but I don't do as she says anymore!

Gilla01 · 13/02/2016 09:21

My mother is my ultimate go-to.
I also check the NHS site sometimes, mainly to set my mind at rest.

barbsbarbs · 13/02/2016 09:28

my mum is always the best source of information especially when it comes to illnesses. dont know what id do without her.

Kraggle · 13/02/2016 09:31

For most parenting advice I turn to mumsnet due to the pure vast depth of knowledge that's available. For some things I turn to my mum but she can be quite overbearing and some of her advice can be outdated so I tend to take what she says with a pinch of salt.

Obviously for any medical advice I'd speak to my health visitor it GP.

alibabbaskeggy · 13/02/2016 09:33

my friends and family. I find personal experience best

funkyfish586 · 13/02/2016 09:34

I do not have any close female family members so I turn to forums & friends. I now have a good group of mum friends who without them I would have been stuck a fair few times.

hiddenmichelle · 13/02/2016 09:34

My Mum - she's been there and done that!

Whataboutnodetox · 13/02/2016 09:36

My mum and a couple of different circles of trusted wise women. Anyone that's been a mother or worked with children will hAve an insight that's different from mine and that's valuable.
