These days, parenting tips are available from a wealth of sources and sometimes it can be tricky to know who to listen to. The team at Nurofen for Children would love to hear who you turn to for the best parenting advice and why you trust or listen to them most of all.

Here's what Nurofen for Children says,"Being a parent is a wonderful life changing experience, full of challenges and triumphs at every stage. We understand seeking advice from a variety of sources is an important part of feeling confident in the decisions you make for your children, so we’d love to hear who you turn to for advice (and the reasons you love the tips they give)".

So please share on this thread your best sources of advice: whether it's a trusted friend who has been there and done that, your own mum, your health visitor, a magazine or blog, the content pages or talk boards on MN Wink etc. They'd also like to know why you love that source of advice so much - perhaps you could share the best advice you've been given and why it worked for you.

Everyone who posts on this thread will be entered into a prize draw where one mumsnetter will win a £300 Love2Shop voucher!

Thanks

MNHQ

I'm not a Mum but I've told my nephew to look for advice on Mumsnet & for medical help on the NHS website & the same for my god daughter. One of your articles came in very useful last year when my nephew & his girlfriend split up & she was refusing to let him see his little girl, there was an article about mediation & following that she now stays with him 3 days a fortnight & he also has her one other day a week & can take her on holidays twice a year

I listen to my best friend who is more of a mum to me having lost my own. I always seek medical advice if there's any doubt in my mind though

Mumsnet. Impartial advice from a source with no vested interest. All too often friends and/or relatives think their way is the only way whereas I like to consider all sensible options and go by what is right for me and mine. Plus it's available day or night at a click.

I find it very reassuring to 'compare notes' with my close mummy friends and share knowledge with them. Anything more serious I discuss with my DH. For the more 'embarassing' aspects of parenting I tend to look on forums like MN to see/share my experience with other parents but in an anonymous wayto avoid feeling 'judged' Blush

My mum as she is very good at keeping calm in a crisis and not overreacting. I also Google and usually find a link to previous mn threads to help! I'd give medicine on advice of a pharmacist or doctor, or if my child is obviously in pain/unwell

Usually my two older cousins as their children are a couple of years older than mine so they've been there and done it.

The NHS website is very useful. I also compare notes with my NCT friends and a couple of friends who have older children. I used mumsnet when I was in labour to work out whether I was in labour...

I would always go to my mum for advice, I would usually panic with my first son at every little sniffle or temperature, she would reassure me and give good advice.

As a foster carer and after having many children!!! I have learnt to seek the advise of professionals. Yes there are some people and other mothers who will give advise but often opinions vary so much that I tend to stick to relevant professionals - especially for medical advise

My Mum, I know she will always give me good advice and have the children's best interest at heart. She will always be honest and not worry about hurting my feelings, she will just be truthful.

I turn to Mumsnet. I think its because its real people which means real advice. Don't like listening to people or reading books by people that haven't got any children of their own. First hand on the job advice is what i seek!
